I received this blackmail email today.

"I do know ######## one of your pass words. Lets get directly to the purpose. Nobody has paid me to investigate you. You don't know me and you're probably wondering why you're getting this mail?

actually, i actually installed a malware on the 18+ video clips (porno) website and guess what, you visited this web site to have fun (you know what i mean). While you were watching video clips, your internet browser began working as a RDP having a keylogger which provided me accessibility to your screen and web cam. immediately after that, my software gathered your complete contacts from your Messenger, Facebook, and e-mailaccount. Next i created a double-screen video. 1st part shows the video you were watching (you have a good taste hehe), and 2nd part shows the view of your cam, yea its you.

You actually have 2 solutions. Shall we look at these options in particulars:

Very first solution is to neglect this email. as a result, i most certainly will send your very own tape to all your your contacts and just consider regarding the shame you will definitely get. and definitely if you are in an important relationship, exactly how it will eventually affect?

Next alternative should be to pay me $7000. Lets think of it as a donation. Then, i will straight away remove your videotape. You will go on with your way of life like this never occurred and you surely will never hear back again from me.

You'll make the payment by Bitcoin (if you do not know this, search for 'how to buy bitcoin' in Google search engine).

BTC address to send to: 1543Vofr7BJpFev4ZE4eMvQucHWW8rMVx2
[CaSe-sensitive, copy and paste it]

Should you are looking at going to the police, very well, this e mail cannot be traced back to me. I have covered my moves. i am also not trying to ask you for so much, i only want to be rewarded. You now have two days to pay. i've a specific pixel within this mail, and right now i know that you have read through this mail. if i don't get the BitCoins, i will certainly send your video to all of your contacts including members of your family, co-workers, and so on. Nevertheless, if i receive the payment, i will destroy the recording right away. This is a nonnegotiable offer thus please do not waste my time & yours by responding to this message. if you need evidence, reply Yeah! then i will certainly send out your video to your 7 friends."

Thing is, I don't actually have a web-cam, and I couldn't care less if any of my '7 friends' know what porn I watch.

I wonder how many people they catch with these scams, and how much money they manage to extort?

Anyone here ever get anything similar?

If the "victim" is real,
just ignore the email and the scammer will move on to the next victim.

There is a sucker born every minute.

But I haven't seen this scam yet, so my ISP must be getting better at screening for this garbage.

It is one of the reasons though that I would never, ever give my email to most internet sites.

It might be legit.

If they know you can come up with $7000 in two days, they must know that you're back to turning tricks down at the docks.

Pay up, whore.

Did the email actually know the name of one of your passwords?

If so, the bit about keyboard logging may be true. The rest may be bluff because they know the porn site and attempt to catch a viewer who actually cares.

We do have a former member here who was stalked by someone who contacted his mother, and he was uncertain if they got his information from something on JUB or another site. It deeply rattled him though. And he has never been back. I don't know if there was any attempt at extortion or merely harassment of some kind.

Yep, the email knew one of my passwords, one that I used to use a lot, but haven't used for quite a while.

Is it possible the password was used on that porn site? If so, it may be nothing more than hacking a porn site's security and getting the email list.

I expect that is what happened. That particularly password was one I used for all irrelevant trivial websites (including porn ones) that required some form of log in.

The email doesn't mention a specific site, it merely says, "the 18+ video clips (porno) website". That sounds ridiculously generic to me. If it was a specific site (such as JUB, for instance) I would have expected it to be named.

I used to get a Metropolitan Police page come up and tell me they'd caught me viewing child porn but if i paid them £1500 they'd let me off with it, needless to say, i paid.

All joking aside, there's that many con men out there you have to watch everything, God help the elderly with those grotbags.

I'd ignore it unless they showed proof that they have you on video, which I assume they don't.

Last week, the host of the radio show I listen to received the exact same email. He talked about it on the air. It had his "throw away" password just like yours.

The only thing I get incessantly is generic Viagra ads from Canada. I don't need that yet! And every dating site(fake or real)has my email address. Most are titled..."Why won't you respond" ?

I got a phone call last week claiming I owed back taxes. Similar scam, huh? Of course I hung up.

I imagine the generic porn site reference is because so many of them operate multiple sites with jump links that constantly bounce the browsing viewer around. It's easier not to name one.

I'm pretty proficient with Bitcoin forensics and have helped people recover lost and stolen bitcoin over the years.

As you can tell from this website: https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1543Vofr7BJpFev4ZE4eMvQucHWW8rMVx2 there are no transactions to or from the specified wallet address.

If bitcoin were to be sent there, and he swept it out of the account -- it is quite easy to trace. The tricky part is matching that information up with a name - the methodology I use only has about a 35% success rate.

Personally, I could care less if someone sent videos of me watching porn -- but, everyone is different.

Best of luck and keep us posted!

:):):)

Shame he had to abandon his old password, though. It was a good one, and surely 5ma77c0cK was easy for him to remember.

Yeah, there's no explaining fetishes, although it sounds like he explained his to you at some point, for some reason we can only imagine. Small wonder that.

Often when I visit one of the free porn sites that appear when I Google "gay porn video muscular athletic anal" or something similar, a window with an official-looking Microsoft Windows logo appears stating that my computer has been infected with a virus that is sending important personal information here and there, and that I need to contact Windows immediately. I always then just turn off my computer and restart. Only ever happens with porn.
