Blasphemy Challenge

The first sentence I quoted there seemed to me to imply that you actually said something along those lines to them. That's verbally attacking them. If I misunderstood and you merely think they can't be simultaneously Christian and racist or promiscuous and Christian, etcetera but didn't actually say as much to them, I'm sorry.

No problem. But to them, I might as well have said it -- by talking to blacks, skinny-dipping with Asians, saying "No, thank you" to an eighth beer, not taking a different gal into my tent every night when camping and leaving used condoms outside on the ground.... Merely being a Christian who doesn't do what they do is like an attack, to them.

Sad, really.

The only time I've actually commented directly on such behavior is when then get racist, promiscuous, drunk, or whatever in someone's face -- like the time one drunk guy was pawing at a chick who'd told him to go away, and he was like, You know that's what you're up here for, babe; I said something to the effect that maybe some people actually believe sex has something to do with love, he asked what that had to do with it, and I pointed to the cross he was wearing and said something about how the Bible said something like that.

But if they leave other people alone, I leave them alone, in terms of bringing up beliefs.

Well, a lot of redneck types claim to be Christians, but they feel free to screw a different chick every weekend, and sometimes two, get drunk and engage in vandalism, believe in white supremacy, shoot up road signs, beat up people they don't approve of, etc. When they encounter Christians who actually read what the Bible says and take it seriously, they get a little upset.

Especially when they hear things like you can't be a Christian and be racist, or promiscuous, or hold to any other of their degenerate hobbies.

Christians are still not a persecuted minority in Redneck Land, Oregon

It's maybe that the Rednecks just believe in a different version of Christianity to you?

Actually I'm personally very sexually promiscuous - and have met quite a few Christians who are as well.

I can't help thinging that maybe their reading of the Bible is more to my liking than yours.

While I don't approve of racism - some things "Bible Bashers" might define as degenerate hobbies are actually very good wholesome fun.

.

Actual Christians are. People who claim to be Christians but haven't a clue about what the Bible says except where it seems to support their prejudices aren't.

It's maybe that the Rednecks just believe in a different version of Christianity to you?

Well, yes -- I have a version that says study and learn and read the Bible; they have one that says carry a Bible to church and never know anything about it except what supports their prejudices.

I can't help thinging that maybe their reading of the Bible is more to my liking than yours.

Except they don't actually read it, or they wouldn't treat the environment like a trash can, regard women as toys, and happily indulge in things as hobbies that are plainly warned against.

You are falling into an "Al-Qudah" type trap -

Where the "False believers" in your faith (in this case Rednecks) are presecuting you.

In which you have also come to think that the only true Christians are those that share your particular version of this religion?

So either they have no clue about what the Bible really says or have totally misunderstood this.

Only your idea of Christianity is the true one

I have no doubt that you are a good person - but is there any wornder I think that religion in general is a bad thing when I can see how these ideas have twisted your thinking?

Do you seriously believe that all the Oregon Redneck Christians are wrong - and that only you somehow have the "one true faith"?

Can you in honesty call them Christians when they don't read the Bible or know what's in it except what supports their prejudices?

They were like that when I was in Middle School and High School, they were like that when I was in college, and they're still like that. Go to one of their homes, and if you can even find a Bible it's so thick with dust it's practically ready for an archaeologist.

Kuli,

that kid in Hong Kong did a lousy job of structuring his last sentence.

It should have been two separate questions even though they are just variations on the same questions that the people who don't like what A says will follow what B says unless what C says works better for the way they is wanting to live.

Maybe they're not mainstream, contemporary Christians, but I don't see why a person couldn't be a Christian based off an oral tradition. Christians in antiquity were told their religion orally since many of them couldn't read (and many were told beliefs not found in scripture). Were they not Christian?

They used the resources they had. These folks have the resources and don't use them. The equivalent back then would have been never listening to what was passed on unless it agreed with their bigotry -- and I wouldn't call such people back then Christians, either, merely posers.

Any suggestions on a better structure and grammer welcome - provided you can write these in Chinese.

unless what C says works better for the way they is wanting to live.

Shouldn't that be "the way they are wanting to live" ?

Anyway - going for a nude swim sounds like a good idea :D

Well Dreamer...

It wasn't an attack on you it was emphasis on the problem and the fact
that there were 2 issues in the sentence but many would only pick up the
one as a single concept.

The word is was used to sybolize some under-educated religionists without
insulting anyone. The post was somewhat tongue-in-cheek and meant that
way....Chinese...why?. Its an English speaking forum originating in an English
oriented country and English is an accepeted form of communication WORLD
WIDE unlike Chinese which is interesting but not understood as far and or
as wide.....now soothe that cranky nerve or you have to wear a bathing costume (circa 1921) to join us free spirited bare ass naked skinny dippers.(*8*).

btw, at no time was a slam intended or inferred as to you actual utilization of
the English language grumpy.;)

OK - I'd have to be considerably better endowed to still look good in a 1920's bathing suit !oops!

HMM - maybe I could get away with polytyrene padding and a 1920's swim suit?

On the other hand - what I like about nude swimming is being able to see how long it takes guys before they get an erection :D

Oh,

That would be Naked swimming. It is more of a

"Sporting Event" so to speak.....:rotflmao:

Just think what a better world we would have if people spent more time

Jigging their Erections rather than trying for

the Rigging of Elections.

I don't know about the challenge part but it is damn sure blasphemy

until i lose 20 lbs. :(

由於谷歌翻譯,我可以說什麼我要在完善中。讓我們去一個裸體游泳。該計算機永遠不會犯錯。不要在游泳池小便。

I don't like the blasphemy challenge. It is like trying to violate a law that isn't there. And "denying" something, in my dictionary, means a "refusal to admit," which seems more like bullheadedness than a simple lack of being convinced. Not saying these people are wrong, but there are a lot of ersatz atheists out there who believe in a god they happen to be angry with, and they get their kicks in by being "disobedient." Makes no sense to me.

I mean I see how it makes a good fun slogan, but I'd prefer something like "I am utterly unconvinced by religious theories as the phenomena they purport to explain are all, to my knowledge, either much more satisfactorily explained by secular theories, or by concluding that they are still open questions."

You know, not to be too technical....
