Good idea.

The Mark Manning Series:
Written by Michael Craft, it's a mixture of crime fiction and gay sex basically. The main character is Mark Manning, a successful investigative reporter. He meets his partner Neil in the first novel, Flight Dreams, and then there are another 5 or 6 novels. Some include Eye Contact, Body Language and Boy Toy. Quite interesting to read, as well as erotic.

Adrenaline
I don't remember much of this- it's by some guy with surname Baker I think, but as the title suggests, it's pretty fast-paced.

Loaded
If you want sex n drugs without the rock-n-roll. An Aussie book by Christos Tsiolkas, which was made into a film 'Head On'. Lots of Greeks, drugs, sex. I think the author went onto write The Jesus Man which is a bit more mature in terms of the stuff it deals with.

My Best Man
An upbeat novel, about a man who pretends to be straight and marry his friend so that she inherits some money. Fun more than anything- there's a nicely depicted shower scene. By Andy Schell.

Gossip
This is weirdly similar to the coming out of James McGreevey, that American senator. It's not bad- written by Christopher Bram.
 
I just finished The Confession by James McGreevey. I would recommend it to Everyone, provided you don't mind wading through a lot of New Jersey politics, which was also a huge part of his life. (So far, that is!)
 
The following are not precisely gay books, but there's a lot of homoerotism.

The Vampire Chronicles, by Anne Rice.

I really like those ones. Of course, if I remember well, there are ten books in that series. The gayest is "The Vampire Armand" (the sixth), where you can actually see some explicit activity.

Andrew Holleran's most popular novel of Malone, a man coming out in New York and tribulations he faces along the way. Please read.

I think all gay men should read this at some point in their life.

"Narrow Rooms" is great too.
 
I pretty much only read "gay fiction"....loved the Frontiers/Firelands books...also Mark Manning series and even the old classics by Gordon Merrick, The Lord Won't Mind, etc.
My latest fav has got to be "Back Where He Started" by Jay Quinn. It's one of the most enjoyable books I've read in a long time.
 
I just read Michael Thomas Ford's "Full Circle." As a retired university professor of literature, I must say it is one of the best books I have ever read. Great novel with a great gay love story and exceptionally well-written. I could hardly put it down and read all day!!!!:-):-):-):-):-)

I agree Although it's not totally 100% gay Mrs. Anne Rice Has defiantly put a very big Homosexual undertone in her Vampire Chronicles. Her son Christopher Rice has some books out as well and those are all Gay themed books !!!
 
From the vampire chronicles, the vampire armand is somewhat gay, specially the interaction between Armand and Marius, then from Anne Rice I would recommend The Feast of All Saints, it's my personal favorite out of all her books and has some gay charachters too, and of her son Christopher I have read the 2 first, A density Of Souls is a book I would definitely recommend, it was his first and I loved it, and the second one is good but on a Stephen King kind of way, and I have to read his last one I haven't gotten it yet.

Drawing Blood by Poppy Z Broght is an Amazing book. Its well written with a great plot, some unexpected twists, and HOT SEX SCENES. I've actually bought more than one copy of the book to lend out and let people read, and I've read it myself countless times. The title my throw some people off, its not about vampires. Its about a guy who's father was a Cartoon artist for some X-rated comic company, and something tragic happened when he was younger. He rediscovers his past, and meets a guy running from the cops on the way. I dont want to spoil the book. I recommend it to everyone.
 
Rainbow Boys Series by Alex Sanchez. Meet Kyle. Kyle likes Jason. Meet Jason. Jason is a closet jock who plays basket ball for their school. Meet Nelson. Nelson is Kyle's best friend, who is very much an unconventional friend. The love, heartbreaks, friendship, joy and passion.

Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan. Charming high school love story.
 
My favorite gay author is William Burroughs (although Tennessee Williams comes in second).

The Wild Boys,
which I believe are part of a trilogy, and I think influenced David Bowie's Spiders from Mars. There was an interview about this in Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine, but I can't remember whether WB interviewed DB or vice versa. It's futuristic apocalyptic early 1970s, but still readable today. The Wild Boys came out in 1971 and Ziggy Stardust in 1972.
 
I have a taste for the classics; any list would be incomplete without Plato's Symposium. My favorite is the Speech of Aristophanes.
 
I was fortunate enough to go through the birthpangs of author Josh Thomas' completing and sending off to publishers, his first manuscript, "Murder at Willow Slough". It's a great read.
He also wrote another book, "Andy's Big Idea", which also will keep your attention. Although written several years ago, both are still available on Amazon.com.

They both involve "gay love", The storylines develop at a good, but not rushed pace.

Something to do in the middle of the summer, to keep your mind active.
 
Isn't that an Anita Blake novel?

I like Anita Blake as a concept, but for some reason I could never get into the franchise, maybe it's because of Buffy, but that would be weird, I'm not a huge Buffy fan, but still. I think I'm tainted, perhaps it's her style, or I'm just too stubborn.
 
In Desert Sons, Mark Kendrick has provided all the ingredients of a good book: solid characterization, a compelling story, and a skillful evocation of place. All in all, Desert Sons is a wonderful read, realistic and moving. Highly recommended.

Someone Is Watching, about a high school jock just discovering his feelings towards other boys, takes a spooky turn when he begins receiving notes in his locker from somebody who apparently has figured out the secret even he just realized about himself.

A Secret Edge is a well written and well researched book dealing with gays who are athletically inclined.
 
The Vintner's Luck is out of publication, but used copies of this book can still be found. A movie is being made of this story and I would guess that if the movie does well the book will be republished.

The story starts in an earlier time (early 1800's) in a vineyard in France. A drunken young man, Sobran, meets an angel, Xas, one evening. Sobran confides his problems to Xas and Xas returns advice. They decide to meet a year later on the same date and the same time. Thus starts a relationship that lasts 55 years.

Over this time period the story unfolds with detail about Sobran's relationship with family, friends, and lovers. But the relationship I found most interesting is Sobran's relationship with the angel Xas.

Xas is a male angel.

I read this book about 6 months ago and I still remember scenes from this novel in detail. My hope is that the movie being made holds true to the book. If it does, it will be a great film!

hey Endless500. I just wanna thank you for recommending us this book. I ordered a copy, and spent my vacation in Thailand, hooked on the book. I loved the details pictured by the author. I am choosy on the materials I read. I like them not to be too shallow, and yet should not be ones that are so deep in literature-sense that I would be lost by the time I try to understand the paragraph.

Drawing Blood offered something different. Romance, but in a Gothic way. There were careful description of events and places, and then, there was the passion. I was hooked by what the author was offering, page by page.

Granted, it was not a normal pace to end the story. In fact, I was horrified to continue reading, fearing an ending that I could not accept between the two young handsome characters.

But then again, this book was not without flaws of its own. I am not familiar with the author's writings, but I am familiar with ghost and horror stories. So, I did expect more. There was a middle chapter that spooked me, and I had wished for more.

Still, I am glad to add this book into my collection. Thanks for recommending.
 
Hey guys....

Here is one from an author you might not expect. It's called The Immortals By Tracy Hickman.

Tracy is most well known as the co-author of the Dragonlance Chronicles, but this is one of his finest and most controversial books. It is also a bit of a tear jerker.... but well worth the read.

He has recently done a podcast of the book. Here is a link to it. You can download each chapter in masterfully done audio, full with music and sound effects.

I highly recommend this book. You can get it from both the link above or from I-tunes, for free!!

I would second the earlier recommendation of Holloran's *Dancer from the Dance.* Also, *Ambidextrous* by Felice Picano, and *Sea of Tranquility,* but I can't remember the guy's name.
