BOOKS: What are you reading?

Comics A Global History 1968 To The Present By Dan Mazur and Alexander Danner

The Great Gatsby, I was utterly hyped by the movie, and I found out that the movie was based on an American classic, I'll let you know how it goes! :D

Salim, a Muslim Indian, negotiates the emergence--or devolution?--of an African country. V.S. Naipaul's A Bend in the River.

Shantaram By Gregory David Roberts

I've had that on my shelf forever. Any good?

Crown of Midnight, it's the third in a fantasy series called Throne of Glass. I'm only a few pages into it. The series itself isn't too bad except for the clumsy love triangle that keeps clogging up the action.

Now onto the second Earth's Children book The Valley Of Horses by Jean M. Auel

Heir of Fire. It's pissing me off. The author finally abandoned the shithouse love triangle and now the three lead characters are mopey, miserable and annoying as hell. I'll finish the series though, I can't stand having a fantasy series not finished, it drives me nuts not knowing how it ended when I've invested so much time in it.

I just finished a biography of Ferdinand and Isabella, the two whose marriage began a united Spain.

In it I learned that for all the noise about how bad the Spanish Inquisition was, Germany, without an Inquisition, was burning people at the stake dozens of times as often!

Finished Queen of Shadows yesterday. It took 4 books in the series for it to finally get really engrossing. The first three the characters are a tad too melodramatic for me, but the 4th book has them all settling into their roles and the action was excellent. Hope the next one - apparently there are more to come - are as good as book 4.

I'm currently reading The Enchantress, Book 1 of the Evermen Saga by James Maxwell. It's a pretty solid first book in an Epic Fantasy Series. From what I can see so far, there are at least 4 books in the series. Nothing new or original and the characters are a little under developed, but all in all it's an entertaining read.

Just finished The Hidden Relic by James Maxwell. I thought it was really good. Very engaging story and the writing compels you forward. I read it in 2 days on the commute to and from work.

I hear the most popular best-selling books are between 90 thousand words long and 100 thousand words long.

(That's too long for me)
