BOOKS: What are you reading?

I'm missing the next Honor Harrington book, so while I'm waiting for it to show at the library I picked up a random book -- an Orson Scott Card thing called Shadows in Flight.

^ Whatever.

Hi. I'm new here, and even I know you're weirdo.

Right now I am working my way through, The Communist Manifesto, A Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin and The Origin of the Species.

Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. More for teenagers, but I enjoyed it, more than The Fault In Our Stars.

I'm putting down Eco's Baudolino, which isn't nearly as much fun as I had hoped, and am looking for something else.

Reading 2 at the moment:

Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth, wonderful retelling of the story of Rapunzel, told from 3 perspectives. It's really amazing, and hooked me from the opening chapter.

And You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay. It's a self-help book that is about self-healing.

If you liked either of those books (or both, or, heck, even neither), don't miss the book David Levithan and John Green wrote together, the fabulous Will Greyson, Will Greyson. It's the story of two suburban Chicago teens, each named Will Greyson, who meet under unusual and hilarious circumstances...and that's just the start.

Dear Girls Above Me by Charlie McDowell

Hilarious! I love the wits!

Sounds interesting and I was actually just looking for something to read. Thank you!

Cloud Atlas as an audio book, listen to it while working out.

I've been listening to books too while I exercise (and exercise my dogs). I feel like I'm getting so much done at once , while enjoying the enrichment of 'reading.' However, as you may know, not all readers are equal, and the effect of a talented reader or a terrible one is dramatic. Considering that, I mentioned just upthread a bit, the superb reading Jeremy Irons delivers with Nabakov's Lolita. The novel is perfect already, so you will wonder how listening to it could be better, but it is.

I read it today, it was a nice book, a bit too teenage-y for me. The other two seemed more serious, but this one, you can tell they didn´t put much thought into it.

Re-read Peter Cameron's mid-1990s novel, The Weekend.

My inner American must be missing. The Great Gatsby didn't resonate with me.
