Boxer Manny Pacquiao calls for gays to be put to death

facepalmua8.gif

You really are a fundie, aren't you? You not only fight against seeing what the Bible really says, you pick and choose what evidence to use!

And here comes the deflection, right on time. Since i'm questioning your beliefs in a civil manner, then I must be a troll.

I'm not picking & chosing anything. Homer and Plato have nothing to do with the issue at hand, nor did I cite them at all. You brought them up to cloud the issue.

No, I brought them up to show that you're singling out one ancient text and treating it differently, which means you're operating on prejudice, not thought.

God is sitting in front of His fireplace reading the Bible, and just thinking...

"Jesus...uh, Hay-soos? Wow, I didn't know that my Son was Hispanic!"

LOL

Actually, the Spanish pronunciation is closer to the original Greek -- though neither is close to the original Hebrew/Aramaic, which were "Yeshua" or possibly "yehoshua" (yeh-HOE-shoe-uh) . . . the original Greek is close to "YAY-zoose"....

Some idiots have even claimed that "Jesus" is an adaptation of "Zeus", and it was really a Greek religion all along....

Just to clarify his position, he has stated that although he doesn't think that gays should be killed, he doesn't believe that gays should marry.

This is what pisses me off about 'Christians' - they pick and choose which parts of the Bible to follow, and which parts to ignore.

Pretty much Manny and millions of others have the same view Obama had. :D Manny said he would supports idea of civil unions just like Obama preached for years that he didn't support same sex marriage, until Biden with his turrets moment pushed the issue on the spotlight. Elections are coming up and LGBT donors are needed so Obama's views on marriage have finished evolving. :##:

It's a matter of getting through to people that "marriage" is not the same word as "marriage" -- i.e., that one is government function that has no substance to it except a stack of legal benefits and privileges, and the other is a religious deal that means whatever a particular religion says it means, anywhere from a man and a woman together or a man raping a woman to claim her to a man having as many women as he can support to a man and a man to two men and a woman . . . . If you look hard, all of those either are or have been parts of religions and/or cultures in the United States, and so they technically have to be protected under religious freedom, whether the talibangelicals like it or not.

Christians who really believed that God ordained the Constitution would be fighting vigorously for that. The talibangelicals apparently think God got it wrong.

Now you're making things up -- just like a fundie.

Dude, don't even go there. You're much better than that. We may not agree on religion, but I do respect your opinion and your right to your beliefs. This is a debate about religion, not a personal attack on you, OK? In the end, you're free to believe what you want. I'm just bringing up questions that Christians don't answer or deflect.

You said:

So, quite accurately, I observed:

Now you're making things up -- just like a fundie.

Are you telling me you don't see what you made up?

"You really are a fundie, aren't you? You not only fight against seeing what the Bible really says, you pick and choose what evidence to use"

Those are your words. Instead of sticking to the discussion, you deflected by accusing me of being a fundie. Considering you've read my posts in the same CE&P threads you've posted in, you should know i'm not even close to being a fundie.

I was sticking to the discussion, by describing what you were doing: picking and choosing your information. Since I'd already noted you were proceeding like a fundie, I pointed it out again. Fundamentalism is more a way of thinking than a set of beliefs, and you've been demonstrating that way of thinking.

Such vultures for the carcass of imaginary "gods" and masters.

Thought this thread was about what Pacquiao didn't say?

How am I picking and choosing? We discussed the whole original sin thing, then you brought up some cops and ladders thing, then threw Homer and Plato into the mix, then capping it off with an ad hominem directed at me.

Honestly, debating about "facts" in a book that has no proof of veracity (outside of it's own word) is futile and fruitless. I might as well be arguing about what the Cheshire Cat was talking about it Alice In Wonderland.

I'm really tired of this shit, so I wash my hands of this. Whatever belief you live by is your deal, and I have better things to do than pursue a Sisyphean task. Adios, mein freund

Says the guy who makes money by beating the shit out of people, while others earn a profit by making wagers on him.

BTW - he's covered in tats and cheated on his wife. His glass house just cut him to shreds.

Not to mention I bet he was wasted drunk at a point and gave some dude a mean hummer when he was 18 maybe for free maybe not. But I bet he spit it out.

Some of the most loving people are religious, and most religion encourages that.

More religious = more extreme, I might buy.

I won't question ones faith or dispute it.
What I will say is without a doubt. Without a fucking doubt it was and is the christian religion that was the crux for hatred and bigotry against gay people when I grew up in a upper white middle class neighborhood outside of Washington DC. It was the basis was used for all homophobia rather a convenient fall guy or not, where I come from it was the stand alone issue regardless of denomination that was easy to use. It was that hatred that was propelled non-stop and never questioned passed down from family to child matters not.
A rare parent didn't correct the mistake when Gods name was invoked.

I'm glad he lost tonight. never rooting for him again.

GLad he lost tonight. I hope he never wins again.
