Again, she's written FIVE #1 hit songs. YOU or some fat music critic may not think she has any artistic ability, but she's no one hit wonder and she's going to be around for awhile. Anyway, this was not about your and or anyone else's opinion of her. You said she was like Britney as an artist, which is false. Why? She writes her own music and she sings live...two things Britney doesn't do that are major factors in artistic ability. Not everyone is going to like Katy Perry, but she's got the results to back up the claim that she's no joke, while at the same time putting much more into her career than Britney.

And, just for the record, I've never bought a Katy Perry song or album...however I do like a few of her songs. The only pop artists I've bought anything from are Lady Gaga and (gasp), wait for it....Britney Spears. I'll give Spears credit...she knows how to pick a good song.

I don't deny this either.

Britney was an incredible performer back in the day. But that's what made her so strong...her performance ability. If she started out as the Britney she is today (no writing, no singing, no dancing)...Katy Perry would kick her ass.

Femme Fatale was a #1 hit not because it has good music (which it does), but because Britney built a name for herself over a decade and has a loyal fanbase. However everyone can see she is not even a shell of her former self these days.

Actually, that's not laughable. I also mentioned that she has number ones because of her name/brand, in addition to marketing and promotion. Like any other business, she's established herself and people are loyal to her.

As for her talents, she was only talented at dancing. The few times I've heard her sing live, it's been hit or miss. In addition, she does not write her own songs. What talents does she have that I'm missing? Again, her fans are loyal to her because she's Britney.

It's not about my opinion. She abandoned her roots (just like Lady Gaga - who also happens to be a singer-songwriter) and sold out to producers to make money. There is little difference between Spears and Perry. Songs about feeling like a plastic bag...oh the depth...

Britney has written a lot of good material, many of which are unreleased/leaked demos. Especially from the blackout era, there are a lot of beautiful demos that leaked in which she's credited for co-writing if not the writer. Research peeps...research

No one said her lyrics have depth, but it's still more effort than Britney is putting in.

As far as Gaga, there is no comparison with Britney other than they both make $$$.

Britney's specialty has always been dancing not singing. Sadly to this day she can't dance like she used to, but music style-wise she still is one of the most influential pop stars out there.

Yes it is, one that can't be learned. That longevity is one of the things that has made Britney an icon.
