A "real pop star" - if there is such a thing - is one who is willing to be a figurehead for the music. One to present the image to the world at large, and for people to identify with the song. Perhaps Britney contributes less in songwriting and vocal talent than Drooper did to the Banana Splits, or 2D does to the Gorillaz. That doesn't mean she isn't a real pop star. One might say it makes her even more of one.

The truly amazing thing isn't that "these idiots will buy anything with her name on it". It's that you think there's something wrong with that, or that they don't realize what's going on. Heads up - people actually are quite aware that their reality TV shows aren't reality, and that their pop stars aren't Rachmaninoff. They just don't give a flying fuck. I'm just trying to fathom why YOU do.

I just get a kick out of taking the piss out of Britney Spears and Mariah Carey because it's fun to come up with funny lines.

Yes... she is a true pop star because she personifies popular culture... it doesn't mean the pop culture that she personifies isn't "prefab and manufactured." because it is.

But I enjoy taking the piss out of Britney Spears mostly because her fans take it so personally... like me pointing out that she's a nasty, bug-infested whore with two unwanted kids who both probably have fetal alcohol syndrome is some kind of jab at them...

But it's all just a game to me. I don't really think that. I'm sure that Britney Spears is presently too coked up to care what I think and he kids are going to make plenty of money on their tell-all books once they get out of rehab and they'll be set for life.

So we all get a happy ending.

Her new song - wether you like it or not - could have been sung by anyone... it's just paint-by-number pop. There was a time when all pop stars played their own instruments, wrote their own songs and spent months is the studio crafting albums like "Rumors" or "Between The Lines" or "Tapestry."

If you like it, that's fine... but if you claim that she's a "real" pop star who like... sings and plays the piano and writes songs and stuff... well.. she's not. She might write a few lyrics here and there but that doesn't make her a "song writer."

99% of what's on the radio could be sung by anyone. And Britney isn't the only one out there who doesn't play her own instruments. You are being very unfair here.

Also, nobody ever said Britney was a "song writer" or musician. Where are you coming up with this stuff? She is just a pop star/entertainer. Plain and simple.

Hey, I like making the ha-ha at other people's expense as much as the next person - probably more so. But your "funny lines" here seem less like true humor or a good display of wit, and look a lot more like the 13-year-old bully making fun of the nerd in junior high.
