California is Broke

(*8*)

Could have been worse on you babe. You could have mentioned illegal immigrants  Then you would have been dragged through the mire.

Well, they are a major contributor to California's problems, and the useless and out-dated law that creates anchor babies.

Don't worry California, if we continue down the same "road of policies", the nation will be joining you in bankrupcy.

California's governor is not concerned with California's budget right now, he's too busy making movies.

Arnold retired from acting when he became governor. He hasn't made a film since. That wasn't him in Terminator: Salvation either. That was all CGI. So that argument goes to shit.

Wow, the news just said that this is the largest amount of people to come to Los Angeles since the 84 olympics. The city lawyers are looking into the possibility of filing lawsuits to AEG and the Jackson's to try to recoup at least part of the cost, estimated to be $3.8 million.

So I will simply say, he is not a child molester, and it isn't his fault California is broke. Learn how to manage your money better, and you won't have a reason to worry.

Why is that important?

Why is it that I have to pay for his memorial because he had a music video or 3 that started MTV?

Did he cure cancer? Find a cure for AIDS? Give freedom to different countries? Did he do anything but take from this state and not give back? (You do know that WE as Californians pretty much saved his ass with his estate right?)
He was the biggest donor to charities of anyone.

He donated to 29 charities REGULARLY and in his will, gave a part of his money to charities.

Not to mention he changed the face of pop music and achieved fame in almost every country in the world, including the Muslim world.

If every movie star/performer chipped in, it might make the state float for a bit

And yet, WE the taxpayers may be responsible for this Michael Jackson spectacle of a memorial.

WTF is this world coming to.

](*,)

Well, hell is probably going to freeze over, but I have to agree with Stacy here.

When I first heard about this memorial service the first thought was, Who was paying?

If I lived in CA I would be absolutely furious.

from the TV coverages alone around the world,
california make its money back a million times !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ](*,)

Really? All the advertising revenue is going into California's coffers? How you figure?

well, world coverage advertise USA hence money goes into the US, at lease some of the money will go to California. ;)

i was wondering about same thing, who will pay for the whole thing? to me, the jacksons family could pay for the whole thing, not the taxpayers

If there is NO TV coverage, yeah the family should pay.
But because of the TV coverage world wide, the media should pay for it.

You guys are absolutely delusional if you think the media, the Jackson family or any of the celebrities who participated in the spectacle they called a memorial service are going to pay for the event.

The California taxpayers are going to pay for it. It's just how these things work.

the media make money from it.

The Olympic game is not free.

My computer has issues on the fourms sometimes and, as such, I can't always see all of the posts so I don't know if this has already been said. However, I have heard on several stations covering the memorial service that the City Council of LA is going to try make AEG Live pay for a large portion, if not all, of the service and what it entailed.

Who requested this memorial to be held at these locations?

I would think the "requestors" would have some obligation to pay for the secruity.

I can easily understand your anger about the costs of this memorial service being covered by taxpayer's money. But I don't honestly understand why you needed to spew out such invective hatred towards Michael Jackson.

Shouldn't your rage be directed towards your elected local representatives for allowing it to go ahead without insisting that the costs be covered by the organisers?

I think most tax payers wonder about the justification for holding events which are financed by their taxes with little or no returns. It is in such situations that participation in government is important. One can complain all one wants but does complaining actually do anything constructive?

Or were the abusive insults towards MJ a necessary element to ensure that the hornet's nest was shaken?

^No one is MAKING AEG pay anything. They are asking them to help. There is a big difference.

The City of LA is working with their attorneys to see if they can legally get AEG to pick up part of all of the costs. It sounds kind of weak to me though. It is kind of like billing people because the police department or fire department came to your home. I'm guessing that they have a better chance of getting donations from fans, family, and AEG than going after them legally.

About 4 years ago, there was a forest fire behind my home. The fire fighters stayed overnight to make sure that the fire did not reignite from the heat and sparks. They did not bill us or try to force us to pay for the costs.

75% polled thought is was a fitting service for him. Sorry you in the 25% but thanks everyone for fitting the bill, it was really beautiful.

Oh and I'm going to donate a few dollars, not because I care for you or your state, but because I would like to show my respect to their family no matter how much money they have.

As I said before California's show business industry is the biggest in the nation. Cost of stuff like this go along with the territory. It's the cost of doing business. You live in the wrong city if you don't like this. Does every movie premiere every week foot the bill for public security? Does every award ceremony foot the bill for theirs?

Events like these are few and far between.

And agree with the poster that said he gets you're point but really it's a guise so you can spew hate about MJ. If you don't like what California is doing, then move to a state where they wouldn't even entertain doing this.
