  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

Can you sleep easily?

Latimer... I agree with this idea.. especially if I am getting the sleep intermission sex that is often described as the two to three hours awake.

Sleep sucks the last 5 months or so. Was better before coming here. This may cause me to move eventually. Sleep is important! Too much noise (not from inside the building) but from outside.

I usually fall asleep pretty quickly as I'm often sleep deprived. I'm out cold within a few minutes (sometimes it seems like a few seconds). I am a light sleeper though. I can manage on a few hours of sleep but on the days I get to sleep in, I can do 8+ hours easily.

The question to ask is also: for those of you with a partner - do you now sleep better than when you were single?

Sleeping is no problem. The time I sleep is.
I have this condition:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-24-hour_sleep%E2%80%93wake_disorder

It's been going round and round in a roughly 3-week cycle like this for 20 years now - all my adult life.

I'm special. Yay.

Yep - that's exactly how I describe it to people - like having a permanent 25-hour sleeping clock.

Not as bad as it sounds - if motivated or on holiday or with things to do, I can keep it stable for a while.

That ..is...so..

interesting

it's 2 am now  and I always think 'sleep' is like a bitch- have you ever think that you ALWAYS can do more out of our 24 h limit- cycle? I think Im not from the earth because earth time cycle is too short and human sleeping cycle is like cheating with my life! (to function entirely as a human being) How many hours must be sacrificed for me to experience full time sleep? 7-8 hours!! I could do so many things within that hours.

Dont you ever wish to live in Mars?- since it's further from the sun- it has 40 minutes extra for a day rotation ^^ or venus? 243- earth days to finish one rotation? 243 days waking life! Yay! :D

I might have what you have- I ALWAYS sleep with sleeping pill 9/10 hours prior to work, otherwise- my rhythm is NEVER ever 6 am sharp.
Idk if I exactly have non 24 hour sleep wake disorder but it's very much described me- I might need a real doctor to diagnose, how do you know about yours?

Most nights, I'm asleep within three minutes of turning out the light ,and I usually sleep through the night. Occasionally, I'll wake up at 4am and have trouble returning to sleep. (This is especially true if I had any alcohol the night before.) When that happens, I just get up and do stuff - usually boring housework - until I feel like falling back asleep. And if that doesn't happen, hey, I get my housework done.

Lex

At least you got your sleep first :(
well, good for you ^^

I go to bed at 9:15 p.m. and wake up at 2:30 a.m. to take a leak, if I am lucky I sleep until 4;00, most night I never get back to sleep.
Well...you have a nice leak-control surprisingly ;)
my sister- 15 yo is not :(

I never get more than 3-4 hours a night.
I do okay on it.
You sleep like an old man- less than 8 h ^^

The question to ask is also: for those of you with a partner - do you now sleep better than when you were single?

Looking example from my parents- I must say my mom suffers alot, her husband snoring with vile bad breathing- open mouth, farting on bed, noisy door slam when he's taking a leak at night..etc

and..I hope I never must to endure that^ :(

I'm probably one of the worst sleeper. It takes me between 1-2 hours lying purposelessly in bed before I enter slumber world, even when I'm extremely sleepy or exhausted. Even after that I am disturbed easily, even by dim light or faint noise, causing me wake up repetitively during sleeping every 1-2 hours.

I rarely sleep more than 6 hours during weekdays. On weekends I tend to sleep longer but usually in the morning.

Luckily it's beneficial to a degree for my work but it's very annoying on a daily basis.

Unless I'm very tired, it takes me a while to get to sleep. I've always been like that, even at daycare when we'd have naps, I was always among the last to fall asleep.
When I finally do drop off though, I'm a very deep sleeper. I could sleep through a full scale nuclear exchange ... in fact, I have to crank my clock/radio up loud so the alarm actually wakes me up.

Once I'm comfortable I'm out like a light.

I don't naturally get tired until about 4 am, but once I do I can sleep 8 hours easily. Life doesn't usually permit that though so I don't sleep very well most days.

Not at all. It takes me about an hour to fall asleep, most of the times, unless I'm really, really tired. I can never find the right position, and once I do, I feel an itch in some part of my body, scratch it, and I'm again trying to find the right positions. Very often I have "nightmares" before really falling asleep. I don't know. It's like my brain is at its peak when I go to sleep.
Anyways, when I fall asleep, I have a very light sleep. I wake up to basically any sound, so, most of the times, I use earplugs to sleep (I can get easily awaken by the sound of birds in the morning, my neighbour's dog, or even the sound of a neighbour's alarm, living under or below me).
Another thing I can't stand is having any form of light in the place I'm sleeping. I have to fall asleep in a completly dark place.
Something else that I don't understand, is the number of hours I need to have to wake up all jolly and happy. If I sleep for 6 hours, I'm sleepy. If I sleep for 8, I'm sleepy. If I sleep for 10, I'm sleepy. It's like I'm always sleepy during the day, but the hardest part is really waking up. I guess that's because of the sleep quality, rather than the quantity.
Well, yeah, and that's it. I guess I'm weird :P

I can sleep anywhere and at any time.

Yet most nights I only get between 5 to 6 hours and don't seem to be suffering from lack of sleep.

Younger, I was perfectly capable of going to bed late Friday evening and not waking up until Sunday afternoon.

yes, we all gonna be the same. My sleep is decreasing every year too and I might have sleep disorder as well.

I am a firm believer in not looking at the computer after 7pm at night and not having any music or tv in the bedroom. Having said this, I also have to take Trazadone to help me sleep through the night. It works. In fact, it probably has helped save my life by helping me to shut down and not work for about 7 hours every day.
