I am doubtful actually, "southerner" is not a comparative, is it? It only means someone who lives in the southern area.
I don't think there is "southernEST" (as in most+southern). The ER is like, workER, fightER, it's not "more+southern".
But it still sounds bad to me. I need to ask to an english native
We don't usually use the Gerund like that. We use the word "che" + the infinitive of the verb instead, like:
tarallucci l'Adone, che seduce i vecchi ricchioni
