Canadian Jubbers... CFL!

The Argos have already said that they won't be going for Flutie as a fill-in... so no problem for you there.

I think Damon Allen is better anyway :P... plus he is around 1000 yards off passing Warren Moon for the All time professional football (NFL and CFL together) passing list. Warren played in both the CFL and NFL... Allen in just the CFL I think.

As for the Roughriders... :(... If they don't beat Calgary on this coming Saturday I'm going to cry... any people up for consoling me if it comes to that? :-({|=

I hope the Esks win the Grey Cup again, then it will be safe to utter the "D" word. :D

Went to my first Esks game a couple years ago when they thrashed the Stampeders 36-0. It was a sellout crowd of over 62,000. Man, that was an awesome experience to be a part of!

What would be really fun, is if the Esks crossed over to the East in playoffs, and ended up playing Sask for the cup... that would be BIG :D... but alas, you would lose :gogirl: I hope... 2 Grey Cups is too few for a team who has been in the league since pretty much the beginning :(.

You have quite the silver tongue. :p Haha, I wonder if many people know that figure of speech...

Woohoo!!! My Riders won :D

The crowd (myself included) was so loud at the end, Burris couldn't get his teammates to hear the plays.

(!w!)

I must say, Hamilton was flat out dominated (raped might be more accurate) by Saskatchewan tonight. 51-8, how embarrassing to be a tiger-cat fan right now.

I actually felt bad for Lancaster when the camera kept cutting to him after every Sask touchdown. It's not like he's responsible for the state the team is in.

Stamps fan here!

I have to say the first game against montreal this season was the best game I have seen in a while.

Less than a minute left and burris gets sacked, calvillo gets shut down, and Deangelis makes not 1 but 2 dramatic FG's from 52 then 53 yards... and the last one was on the last play of the game and was the winning FG!

Now finally the stamps get a break from having to play the unbeatable als (well, unbeatable before the stamps got to them :P) and now they get to play the easy esks! ;)

Should be a good labour day classic.

The Labour Day Classic Is Fast Approaching!!!

Woohoo! Nice wall paper... got a stampeders version? :P

Go Stamps!

Argo's fan myself. Well not so much anymore but I was in the past! :)

I remember an American Comedian talking about the CFL compared to the NFL and the only thing I can remember is him saying this.....

"you Canadians, and your football....I tuned into a CFL game last week and was totally confused! The annoucer said well it's the roughriders up by 7 points over the roughriders! I was like....WHAT? "

it true though...we play real man's football! :p

Ottawa used to have a team called the roughriders while saskatchewan had a team of the same name... not sure as to what the story behind that ingenius idea was.

I am biased of course, but I tend to think canadian football is more entertaining than the NFL.

I agree with you 100%. It's much more entertaining! Cause it's not totally commercialized like it is in the states.

Saskatchewan's team has been around since 1910 I believe. Although it was previously called the Regina Roughriders. Ottawa's probably a pretty old team too. I think it's just the way it worked when teams were gathered to form the CFL.

And technically Ottawa had a team called the Rough Riders, not Roughriders ;)

They used to both go by the same name "Roughriders"... but a game was played between the 2 to see who could keep the name, as it was decided there shouldn't be 2 Roughriders...

Saskatchewan won... so Ottawa split the name into 2.

Canadian football is entertaining, but our league is a farm team for the NFL who keep us afloat financially.

They helped bail us out in the mid-90s, when the league was near crashing. Although we in Saskatchewan had the whole tv drive to keep the team... and it was a huge success.

Since then though, we have been making it on our own. The tv viewership has steadily been going up, advertising is way up... all in all we are doing quite well.

The NFL still does take our best players as they can offer more money due to the heavy commercialization and also the much larger fan base, but in no way to they keep us "afloat" anymore ;).

Although the funny part is... Ricky Williams was supposed to just tear up the league with his superior talent... but when he was healthy, he did shit all.

Wooooo!!!
