when buying things in Supermarkets, fast food ... etc, do you pay cash or credit cards. ?

Some people spend only afew dollars and they pay by credit cards ..... waste time checking for their IDs and signatures. Some times abit annoying just waiting for them to check id, put in pass word and signature.

I pay cash.

I usually use a debit card. Takes less time than cash because the cashier doesn't need to count change.

If it's less than $5 I pay cash, less than $10 debit, more than $10 credit card. I like the points I collect on my Visa card. I get at least 1 and usually 2 free flights a year so it's worth it. With the new chip card it's easy because they don't check for ID since a PIN is necessary

If it's a couple bucks, cash.

Most everything goes on the amex - a charge card, not credit card. So it's almost like paying in cash.

I use my debit card most of the time... cash sometimes, but never credit.

Wrong title. The mods should change to "cash Vs all sorts of bank cards"

isn't there a fee(s) on debit cards ?

They don't need to ask for i.d. in fact with most major credit cards, they are not supposed to unless they have some particular suspicion. If their policy is to make the people behind me wait, just because they want to see my id, then that is their problem.

(oh, under $15 or $20, cash usually) otherwise credit.

I mainly always use my debit card. But if I'm going somewhere that I know only takes cash I make sure to have some on me.

Debit cards! Even for small things. And yes, credit cards are evil.

Debit unless it's a high dollar item then it's my skymiles CC.
Cash is ok, but I hate dealing with the change in my pockets.

For food, I normally use my atm cards. For most of my other things, I use my credit cards. But I also pay off the full balances on almost a daily basis. I get points that I can turn into money on my credit cards.

I use a credit card for everything. I pay the balance off at the end of every month.

I get cash back for the points I earn. :)

Debit card unless I'm at the pub or somewhere else where paying with a debit card takes ages, then it's cash.

I use my debit card for everything (I chose "credit card" in the poll, since that's what a debit card looks like). I dislike cash, especially since they've redesigned paper money so that it looks tacky. I'm also more concerned about losing cash (I tend to lose things)... if I lose my debit card somewhere, I call up the bank and cancel it, get a new one issued, and all is well; if I lose three hundred dollars in cash (as happened to me twice), it's simply gone.

I tend to use my credit cards only when the checking account from which the debit card draws has run dry. Which, unfortunately, is often. The mythical "one of these days" for getting control of my finances is looming closer and closer by necessity.

I loathe necessity.

If it is a relatively small amount (say under $20) I'll usually pay cash. Everything above I'll normally try and pay with my credit card, including groceries, recurring bills, etc.

Mind you - I pay it in full every month. It's he only way to beat the bank. I pay no fees for the Credit card, pay no interest on it and collect loyalty points on everything I spend.

I use a credit card for everything. I figure that one day I will beat them at their own game and get that airline ticket free and just by using a cc. It's amazing how much one can spend on little things
