This is Blackie. He is a neighborhood community cat, semi-feral, but has learned to rely on humans for food. He has lived here for at least 10, probably more like 12 years. Blackie won't let you pet him, and he will run if you approach him, so I couldn't get any closer than this to take his picture. If you look closely, you will notice the tip of his left ear has been docked (clipped), which means he was part of the spay/neuter, and release program by the local Humane Society or animal welfare organization.
 
I am sure that settled him down some...what a lovely kitty.

I used to carry around our 3rd Sam in my pockets when I was a kid...and then tucked inside my jacket when I went out for a walk.

He lived until the very fine old age of 23.
