I suddenly was wondering about the rationale behind cat-petting: do catterers pick little felines because they are less high-maintenance than, say, dogs (hair-dressing and all that), but then they are demanding enough to cater *ooops*
to the need for being a "giver"?
If it is because of company, why not rather choose a turtle that would spare you the mourning and, quite probably, to the beast itself too?
