Cats

Our fingers are crossed.

The tabby girl that we brought in to care for has been admitted to the Emergency + overnight clinic.

The vet we had taken her to, had not detected an impending crisis over the last two weeks but she may have a hepatobiliary disease or other serious issue.

So feeding tubes, x-rays, ultrasounds and a hospital stay.

They actually asked us to make a decision on what we would do based on the care plan cost... but if money could solve it, we'd give whatever it takes. Makes sense since the vetrinary university is a significant legatee in our wills...better to use it to help a living animal.

She definitely is a fighter and loves being with us so much.

Thanks!

We will find out later today what the prognosis is.

Unfortunately, I am having to attend a conference for the next few days, so will only get to see her for a bit today and will have to deal with it that way.

So. My partner was so excited when he called me this evening after I reached the hotel.

Cancer is unlikely after ultrasound. She ate by mouth (as well as feeding tube) today. She is everyone's favourite girl.

And they are somewhat optimistic.

Amazing what miracles an open ended American Express card can do.

And bless my sister for her thoughts and prayers that she believes has helped do the trick.

Update.

She is stable and getting more blood tests today to see if all the levels are showing improvement.

There is some chance that she will need surgery in Toronto...which of course would be hilariously expensive and I've told my sis that we are looking into air ambulance for her.

I have never enjoyed spending money more than this.

IT was too good to last, I guess.

Sissi had a downturn through last night, stopped eating and her blood levels have gone way out of whack again.

Her vet doesn't know what happened (they never do with cats, do they?) but is not thinking that surgery is a good risk now.

We likely won't be able to care for her at home because of the pain meds she'll need, so likely tomorrow, when I am back from the city be our goodbye.
