This is a serious question - I'd like an answer from a psychologist or evolutionary biologist.....
Why do we love cats so much? Why do we want to give them everything nice, and touch and hold them at every possible opportunity? Why do we see kittens as more attractive than the offspring of our own species and want to parent them?
There must be some evolutionary mechanism that promotes this inherent human behaviour.
