  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention CE&P is in meltdown!

LOL,have to agree with MoufOf Khaos here.....since the Alfie, Andreus days we've had really contentious periods there when almost everyone was snippy or shouting at someone else(right and left). We have a majority of strong left wing partisans,a few strongly opinionated on the right,a few strongly opinionated libertarian voices of increased stridency, and a few voices of unpredictability (Chance1, Loki 81 and Stardreamer in particular who don't tend to adher to an ideologically inflexible position right or left....our center, if you will);)

I really don't think there's much interest in consensus and actually more politically independent, centrist voices( even if there's a mild conservative or liberal tinge, we need more temperate, pragmatic voices whether inside or outside our party structure system)

No problem with the moderators, who despite their political leanings in my experience have been quite fairminded.... no power trip or ideological cliqueishness there. They do the best they can with a sometimes thankless position they don't get paid for....as far as I know not even a great blow job for work well done!;)

I look what's going on, post or send a comment or pm when I see something that intrigues, delights or gives me agita and hope for better days but until then you take out of it what you want to.

CEP: Trollville. Post something formulaic and it gets perpetuated. Post something perceptive and the neo-nazis remove it. Unless you're a favorite, when it will endure forever. A Forum for flagellants.

A majority of the time it's not worth reading, for several reasons including but not limited to what Lex said. I enter it only when I see an intriguing thread title pop up while on the main forum page.

At the moment CEP is mild compared to what is going on in the campaign and the media. Those guys use words our moderators would not allow.

Keep in mind that politics was invented as a superior alternative to war.

pfffffffft

It is child's play in there now compared to this time last year when the Trolls had just about trashed it completely.

It is now a debate among about 10 or so regular posters who are either for or against the Republicans or Democrats in this election season and who have no interest in anything that happens anywhere else in the world if it isn't connected with the election season.

It has been hugely entertaining though, this year, following the train wreck of the primary season.

As for post deletions? What can I say?

^ It was like that last election in 2008. The forum Republicans cried after Obama won, said it was just due to his race blah blah blah. They'll do it again, then things will quiet down.

I hardly go there. You literally want to kill yourself...

CE&P is in meltdown!

Yeah and the sun came up this morning. What else is new?

Well, I pretty much stopped going in there too after the mods so much as admitted they could do nothing about the american bias. Or would do nothing. Should be renamed "Current American Events & Politics" or CAE&P for short. There's just so little for non US consumption on there...but than again the biggest political circus is in the USA - no one could deny that. And it will only get worse as their elections approach. I almost wish there would be a clear case of rigging and the election results would be considered null and void. Or maybe ....oh I can't post that here. But refers to something happening to the tabulation machines

just wondering if conservatives will ever shut up. but no, each time their fantasies are dispelled they just create new fantasies.

Joe Scarborough (a former republican representative and host on MSNBC) agrees, he told the GOP to STFU after the Obama care decision, and they really do need to STFU or PTFU.

Lets see those taxes Mittens.

The only really ugly part about it is when you get poli-ops in there; the people that the parties run to flood forums with agit-prop. In the past, the JUB forum has had them drop in; then you get the nonsensical, racist and homophobic crap posing as discussion. Or when you get some Stormfronter extolling the necessity to limit non-white immigration and ranting about the evils of multi-culturalism.

And only just this week, the use of 'Ball Lickers' to describe fellow posters has been abolished, so that is something.

I think though, that in the Twitter age, the relative importance of forums as a tool in shaping voter opinion is dropping off greatly and so we tend to be pretty much left alone here at JUB any more. It used to be that commentary on JUB would regularly appear in Google searches....and might have had a farther reach than it does now. With people reducing all their thinking and discussion down to 142 characters...........I doubt if much of the chatter that goes on in JUB politics ever surfaces any more.

So now, it is more like having the same 10 friends over to drink and argue and jerk off. Or it is like the 'brain trust' of the same guys that get together every morning in the coffee shop and 'solve' the world's problems. We're just another version.

I suspect though, that on most sites, the interest in forums on politics will probably completely die off after the next US election.

makes you wonder if there is a thread in CE&P called Hot Topics is in Meltdown...alright, one of us will need to sneak over there and check...NOT IT!
