One thing I will say is there has to be a better alternative than "Agreeing to disagree" or "It's too hard to think about" or "we simply don't discuss it."
Laws matter, governments matter, especially to gay people, and if it means the odd argument, so be it. We might not enjoy that but it's still better than apathy.
^I have taken a softer view towards the moderators.
Some of the time, the Moderators that we "love to hate" are actually very nice guys behind the scenes. One of them, who rules with an iron fist, is quite a gentleman behind the scenes--quite the "stellar feller".
I guess they have to be strict in CE & P because that's where the worst abuse between the members occurs.

Well, I pretty much stopped going in there too after the mods so much as admitted they could do nothing about the american bias. Or would do nothing. Should be renamed "Current American Events & Politics" or CAE&P for short. There's just so little for non US consumption on there...but than again the biggest political circus is in the USA - no one could deny that. And it will only get worse as their elections approach. I almost wish there would be a clear case of rigging and the election results would be considered null and void. Or maybe ....oh I can't post that here. But refers to something happening to the tabulation machines![]()
I wish you would reconsider -- and post more over there...
I, for one, LIKE learning about other political systems...

If there was an international CEP I would probably take part in that more then the American one. I am just fed up with American politics... and I just see so many drones trying to undermine an elected President in any way they can... even here. Never have I seen such great nasty disrespect of a sitting President, even during an election cycle... and I'm saying in the BROAD sense (across society).

As for you non-Americans, make a note here, nothing blocks those alleys.
You can thread however you want and then, if they want, people will come.
Truly, I remember the brief existence of the INTERNATIONAL Forum section of C E & P. It was tried, and I applauded its introduction when it appeared, but it died on the vine - almost nobody posted anything in it. And, I think, part of the reason for it withering and atrophying was that "International" isn't only ONE country. British JUB people may not pay much attention to politics in Italy; French JUB people aren't likely to pay much attention to Australian politics; the rather myopic American public just simply ignored the place. I paid attention to many of the international threads and especially Canadian ones, but I'm probably the exception. I'm not sure there's a good solution to making international CE&P highly visible, when the membership is such a high % "American" - not to mention that unlike politics in (say) Germany, USA political decisions and policies are - for better or [USUALLY] worse - something which tend to have GLOBAL ramifications.I do like the idea of a American CEP and a International CEP. We had a subforum for a bit when i first arrived but it had litterally nothing in it. CGYMike many singular folks have bitched about that but then never post international events
since there is a quorum (if you will) of American posters then you get mostly their pov.
Yellow-dog Democrat, or Blue-dog Democrat?Current event : took my dog for a walk. He's a democrat. What's your (non-human) dog?
Hey, yey...HI bud! I've missed you here!I wish you would reconsider -- and post more over there...

A forum for [STRIKE]flagellants[/STRIKE] flatulence.CEP: Trollville. Post something formulaic and it gets perpetuated. Post something perceptive and the neo-nazis remove it. Unless you're a favorite, when it will endure forever. A Forum for flagellants.
There is nothing that prevents anyone form posting a thread about any current event or any country in the world. Just don't expect many people on JUB to add too much to the topic. 8 out of 10 people who post in the forum are from the US and all the mods are from the US as well.
