Marisa Kabas of “The Handbasket” said a Disney source told her the company saw more than 1.7 million total paid streaming cancellations between Sept. 17 and Sept. 23. “The total includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN,” she wrote on Bluesky.

The company reported 207.4 million subscribers across all three streamers during its third quarter.

Well it didn't take long for Charlie to be swept under the carpet. I haven't seen any news about the investigation. Has the suspect been charged yet? And has the funeral taken place? Not the jamboree at the stadium, that wasn't a funeral, although a lot of people seem to think it was. There were no rites and definitely no body. I wonder if the trial will generate same amount of hype as the murder. It wouldn't offer the same scope for selling souvenir mugs and tee shirts. In fact I wonder if they'll bother with charging him and holding a trial at all. Perhaps Trump will just have him bumped off and make up some flim-flam excuse if anyone asks. Like they do when they blow Venezuelan boats out of the water.

^ Pretty much as expected. The media has moved on to the shutdown...and frankly Kirk's shooting wasn't any big deal in the larger scheme of things. His widow has made so many bad moves since his death that she is now a bit of an embarrassment; she will spend the next year milking his death by making appearances for speeking engagements and likely trying to write a book...but interest in her and and her husband will have shifted. The US is always on the horns of a dilemma. There is a general understanding that you don't make a big deal out of a shooter's trial and investigation because you don't want other attention seekers to be inspired by the fame...which sometimes seems to be the motivation. The US ammo and gun industry also doesn't want discussion about guns. If Kirk's killer was as hot as Luigi, he might get another 15 minutes of fame, but really hot shooters are rarer than hens' teeth.

They are also in a bit of a pickle, as one of the key government witnesses will be the roommate. They want the roommate to co-operate. If they do something to upset the roommate, like making a big deal of the rumors that the roommate is trans, then they lose a key witness. The worst case scenario would be if the roommate marries the shooter, then it would set up a spousal privilege situation where the roommate can't be forced to testify against the shooter.
