That is a much more difficult question than you imagine. If Hitler had been stopped before he became Chancellor, there was a strong probability that the Communists would have taken over. When they do, they execute the opposition, confiscate the property,execute the owners, close the churches and execute many of the clergy, etc. and they would have allied with Stalin. Not as bad as Hitler, but close.

Republicans are more strongly patriotic and more devoted to the Constitution and democracy than democrats and are by nature libertarian--except for traditional morality. They are not fascist and would not allow Trump to become one. I am more concerned with his unpredictability. But that chance is safer than the known policies of the democrats, which are hostile to America, democracy and free enterprise.

Patriotic crosses over to nationalism easily it seems. I'm certain Hitler's supporters would have labeled themselves patriotic too. They probably believed they had empowered a leader who embraced their values and promised to make Germany great again.
It appears traditional values are expanded to embrace casino owners, despite being venues for gambling, prostitution, drinking and organized crime as well as various forms of money lending.

And, American communism was largely Jewish. The party was founded by Emma Goldman and it contented to attract Jewish adherents even after they knew what communism was. Remember the Rosenbergs, David Greenglass and Harry Gold? And the hated blacklist. Sander grew up in that generation and his angry hateful speeches speak of revolution and do not suggest that he has any appreciation for capitalism or democracy. The Democrat party has abandoned the KKK over the last half century... Not sure about the tea party faction of the Republicans though.
