Since no one federal or local has attempted to do anything to Chick-fil-A, nor are they going to you are absolutely safe. You just live in a country where it's perfectly legal in a lot of places to discriminate against your faggot ass, where you don't have the rights straight people have and were the owners of Chick-fil-A are giving millions of dollars to hate groups to ensure you never do.

That shows how far I steer away from fast food IN GENERAL. I wasn't even *thinking* about the fact that so many of the CfA properties are in food courts/malls, I was thinking more in comparison with some of the places where many of the restaurants are "stand alone" places (on their own lots) where the property owner wields a decision over only one business (such as a Boston Chicken) rather than a whole bunch of businesses (such as in a mall). But I also wasn't thinking of CfA being on public property either - I worded it horribly. The only way CfA would be on "PUBLIC" property would be if they had a location in a Federal Building or something. The discussion on this thread has included comments about zoning, etc., which involves stand-alone locations rather than food courts.

What I don't know, is whether a mall owner is subject to some types of regulations which consider the mall to be some sort of "public accommodation" in which local lawmakers could (WRONGLY) get involved in strong-arming restrictions of some kind.

You say that "no one...local has attempted to do anything to..." - which would be fine. The decision must be left to the marketplace. But, see below...it's apparently not as simple as that.

Apparently you missed the fact that an Aldermen in Chicago and the Mayor of Boston have both said point blank they would stop CFA from opening stores in their cities.

They are NOT doing anything illegal, but they are doing some things which are vile and disgusting. Getting the word out is the correct way.

I think that one of the take aways from this is that a few hundred extra customers showing up at a Chik Fil A for a day may seem like there is overwhelming support for denying homo rights, the fact is that they are only a few hundred extra customers.

In the longer term, I have to think that this is not going to be good for the Chik Fil A business.

Oh and this just in... I belong to gay running group that meets on various days throughout KC for a nice run... that aside they decided to join the CFA kiss in today at lunch. I could not due to work BUT they had FAG and soda pop hurled at them by loving Christians... makes your heart beat doesnt it...

yeah, it was kinda weak as protests go. We had 9 people at a local Cfa today protesting for about an hour and a half. Traffic would shout obscenities to them. But, on local forums all people can talk about is how a lesbian couple here had their 2 and 7 yr old sons protesting with them, holding signs. The reporter asked the 7 yr old what is was protesting and he said "I don't know". Well, the right has run with that story...gay parents letting their young kids protest...what a shame. I don't see the big deal....the kids weren't in harms way. They weren't even on Cfa property, they were on the adjacent shopping center's parking lot.

And I've seen countless churches with pro-Cfa signs up through out town.

The protests against Chick-Fil-A here in California have been much stronger then that, especially the kiss in protest. Not weak at all. But then again this is California. Hopefully we can drive out this chain from this great state through bankruptcy. I hope the people of this state understand that there are better places to eat at..

You know, I don't find I agree with you often, but it would be nice if Cali did run Cfa out of state. It wouldn't be much of a financial blow since the West is a new, less established market for Cfa, but it would be nice symbolism to be run out of the nation's most populous state.

Hanging out with a bunch of gay friends tonight, we were discussing the alternatives and Cfa really has the market cornered on many of their foods. There isn't an equivalent on many menu items fast-food wise in our market. There is KFC which isn't good and always has empty parking lots, and Zaxby's who's chicken is 10x greasier than Cfa. It would've been a lot easier to boycott a burger joint...there are tons of them and I can't tell a Big Mac from a Whopper LOL.

I actually once drove out of my way from the western Kentucky Parkway down to Memphis once because I knew there was interstate 40 and a zaxby's salad that way.... Well we have no shortage of alternatives. They do not have the market cornered over here, but perhaps where you live they do. LA has a wide variety of food.

Even a gay bar/restaurant in West Hollywood (The Abbey) offered up an alternative chicken sandwich to Chick-Fil-A's. I wish them luck with that though I probably wouldn't order it anyways. I don't really eat fried chicken.

I don't think a gay dance club's (and a good one) chicken sandwich is a threat to chick-fil-a
