Numerous LGBT people employed at Chick-Fil-A express how they feel about Dan Cathy's controversial position on same-sex marriage. They are, for the most part, anonymous. (Fears, of course, on job loss.) Consensus is that many in the public assume that Mr. Cathy's viewpoint is generally the same for the employees.

"Now, anyone that works there is stuck with a stigma of being homophobic, even when many of us are far from it," K said. One of her coworkers, who supports same-sex marriage, has had people say things like, “Don’t give me that hate sh*t,” and “I hope you choke on that chicken," while she was handing out samples.

But for K, the hardest part hasn't been the actions of customers and protesters, it's the money the company gives to anti-gay groups.


"At the end of the day part of our profits still go towards Dan Cathy, and subsequently, all the organizations he supports," she said. K is now actively searching for work elsewhere. Many of her coworkers, she said, are looking for new jobs, too.

That, sadly, is irrelevant. I haven't really heard anyone claim that CFA employees are homophobic. Honestly, this has NOTHING to do with CFA as a business. CFA is a great business and I'd love to frequent it. It's what its CEO does with the money from the business that's the problem.

If there are gay employees at Chick-Fil-A, I'd be looking for a new job. I couldn't sleep at night supporting that company... or working for them... when the money from sales goes to anti-gay organizations.

Giancarlo you do realize CFA is spread out heavily through the South East. Unemployment is still high here in the South. The Sunday Newspaper Classified section is not over-flowing with companies looking to hire......

Sometimes I don't get ANY of you guys...All of you are just rambling on and throwing ANY & Everything out there and all of it is just Hogwash..It's as if you think that the NEW Obstacles to Oppress the Gay Community are an EASY fix...Well I have news for you...It's not.

What I saw yesterday @ Chick-Fil-a is history being played out all over again...The Gay Community needs stronger Leaders....Republican CFA supporters were in front of the cameras ALL DAY yesterday..Where were the Gay Activists & Leaders?

The CFA take-a-stand for a day was a TEST.....The Republicans passed with flying colors because their base showed up and wasn't afraid to be seen on Camera...

At some point the NAACP has to put their Money where their Mouth is and begin to March in all 50 States....In order to Stand down The Christian Right wing the NAACP will have to get involved...The President of the NAACP is about to get tested....I really don't think the Gay community can fight the Christian Right Wing alone....

Whatever is going to happen WILL happen over the next 4yrs...If Obama wins in November whatever he is meant to do for the Gay Community will happen during his 2nd term...

And just to piggyback, we all (well, most of us) know how bad the jobs market is right now. Cfa is known amongst the fast food industry as a top notch employer. They pay more than most FF, and are more prone to hiring workers as Full-time (hence, benefitls like ins) than most cheap-ass fast food joints. And they staff far more generously than most fast food places (thus, the better and quicker service). Not to mention, you get Sundays and many holidays off. The store closest me to me has a man whom I've seen working there for 12 years who clearly has a learning disability. He's so very sweet, and talkative, but they let him no where near the money. He just cleans the kitchen, dining, parking lot. He started as a 16 year old and is now approaching 30...the kind of guy who most would never give a job.

I hate they had to open their damn mouths as this really is a proto-type business operation that one can really appreciate from all other angles.

Running their business that way does not oblige them to undercut the rights of their fellow citizens. I'm glad they opened their damn mouths because it showed that the wholesome image was just that: only an image. Somebody else with better ethics could run a business just as well without having to screw over the gay people.
