Chick-fil-a Can Bite Me

It is inevitable that there will be more fundies than homos statistically so the kiss in day will be a small percentage of the activity seen at most CFAs today. Truly kinda of sad. On one hand I do believe we should stand up for our rights. However Mr Majestic has it correctly. The fundies hate Obama and we are just stoking their base for a change in the whitehouse.

As an example remember how deeply rooted the hate of Bush and right wing policy was the year Obama was elected. Every high school student, college student and every organization was outspoken about disliking the course and getting a new fresh face. I do not think that mojo is on the street this year. last time it took almost seven years of concocted stories to stir the masses. These last four years all of the diatribe has come from the right. They have effectively stirred their base AND stifled growth to prevent a good jobs outcome.

I hope the DNC senses this and Obama's campaign does as well. There needs to be a grass roots effort to get the vote out for the last two month of this dance or the game will be lost to indifference.

I have no idea what the "chick fil a" guy said, and I don't really care. It's called free speech.
You're only a second class citizen if you feel that you are. The truth of the matter is that as gay men
we have the same rights as every other citizen. And don't give me that marriage shit because it's an invalid argument.

What has people so upset that they're supporting chick fil a is the fact that liberal thugs are trying to deny a man's right to have an opinion.

Oh Henry, what a card you are. So myopic, so sourpuss. What would this board be without your particular brand of wingnut.

...The fundies hate Obama and we are just stoking their base for a change in the whitehouse...

Now now ladies, let's not get stampeded into maudlin anticipation of doom just because Henry is channeling Fred Phelps. Henry is always channeling one of those losers.

There were no great Chick-fil-A crowds or hoopla at the one I passed on the way home, anyway look on the bright side if all the fundies start eating at Chick-fil-A all-time, they'll all die early of heart disease.

But that's not going to happen, it's going to end up just like all those forgotten boycotts of Disney, and if you're looking for a reason why gay men are going to lose the White House for Obama, the Dems just added gay marriage to their platform.

None of the haters on the right (except you Henry, kiss kiss) are going to give a fark about a chicken sandwich against that.

Nah. We thugz are just expressing our opinion too. The man can say all the shit he wants. And we thugz can keep responding.

I'm offended, I am not a thug, I'm a backwoods redneck!

This Huckabee crusade has gone over much better than I would have imagined. I've seen Youtube videos of mad, crazy crowds today at Cfa. The networks have covered it all day. And, it's not just right wing nutjobs, I've seen tons of blacks in those long lines today...and, I don't mean to stereotype, but between what I witnessed and news coverage today...let's just say I didn't think there were that many black Repubs in the entire country as were hanging out at Cfa.

On a different note, here is a compelling story about gay employees of Cfa and how they're hearing it from both sides.
Chick-fil-A Anti-Gay Controversy: Gay Employees Speak Out
I suspect this is no fun for them.

All based on Chick-Fil-A? Yeah... right.

This story will be around for another week, and then the media will find something else to focus on.
The media will probably focus on Monthly Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day, which will be moved to the FIRST MONDAY of the month. That way, the redneck hetero testosterone will be screaming all the way to the voting booth the day after, in November.

I'm perfectly within my rights to deny haters the right to open any restaurants on my property, to rail about them in the public sphere, to encourage people to eat elsewhere, to point out they give money to hate groups, to call what's his name a fucktard, and anything else I can come up with.
You do have a right to all of these things, most definitely. However, "your property" would have been private property and you have the right, but I don't want to think of a country where the government (federal or local) has a right to thought control. People who live in places such as North Korea, Iran, etc. know what that is like. The kind of mind and social control the Republicans would like to exert (where they could certainly make it illegal for any business, which for example provides any benefits to same-sex partners, to do business of any kind in their state) would make Fidel Castro envious.

if the gay community shunned all businesses that were owned or employeed anti-gay people we wouldn't have any place to shop
Very true, but Chick-Fil-A may possibly be the most antigay corporation (well known in at least large parts of the country) currently in existence in the United States. They are at the extreme, not much less so than the Westboro clan.

President Obama won't lose because Republicans showed up to the polls but ONLY because his base & Independents did not...

How many BIRTHERS you think is holding signs and waiting in line?...LOL...
...OR because, even when "his base & Independents" DID show up, they were not allowed to vote??????????? The voter-ID debacle is nothing short of a full blown coup d'etat, if they succeed. Republicans are experts at bloodless coup d'etats, but (scarily) I'm not all that confident it would remain bloodless.

See I think the protest was a good thing but when you push so far you embolden your enemy in an election year it is not good for the cause. Just a random thought..

This is the perception because of the inept Boston, Chicago and LA?? Mayors:

With all the other gold hysteria, Muslim Brotherhood hysteria and a belief that Homos can be prayed straight it is not too far to think they would subscribe enmass to defeat a candidate if they thought he was going to pursue limiting their religious freedom. NOT that Obama is or has said anything of the sort but you have to dance with who brung ya and the DNC and all its wide open yaps are the dance partner.

Nobody who is going to Chick-fil-A for this reason would have voted Democrat anyway.

End of story.

do you honestly think strip malls and shopping centers are public property?

Since no one federal or local has attempted to do anything to Chick-fil-A, nor are they going to you are absolutely safe. You just live in a country where it's perfectly legal in a lot of places to discriminate against your faggot ass, where you don't have the rights straight people have and were the owners of Chick-fil-A are giving millions of dollars to hate groups to ensure you never do.

Why are we all so pussy hurt over some hater and his greasy food?

sorry but there is no such thing is push too far when it comes to civil liberties. If the Gay men before us didn't "push too hard" you would be in the closet and we would not be having this conversation. This board would not exist. A lot of us would still be in a electro shock therapy for our gay insanity.

There is not one single civil rights movement in the history of our country that got anywhere by being polite.

easy for u to say - don't believe it

independent voters are just that - independent - they have some liberal in them - they have some conservative in them

the issue is not the boycott

it's the suggestion of closing them down - with dopey mayors doing dopey things that are not legal to begin with

hot air for no reason other than to flex their progressive but slight muscles

boycott them - awesome - hurt them in pocket book

this does the opposite and changes the narrative

best case is it's bad politics

worst case is it shifts the "bad guy" from the bigots to us

I agree.

Just to be clear:

We Are Not Arguing Over Chicken

So here's my message to social conservatives: Just because you were a member of the Boy Scouts, I don't think you are a bigot. Have those waffle fries; I'm not going to glitter-bomb you. But please, hear me out on why these organizations are so troubling to me, personally. Let's get beyond the avatar, so we can understand that this is more about people than about anonymous wall posts.

Suck it chance (grin)

Until someone actually tries to shut down Chick-fil-A it's just more of the same.

If you want to get your panties all atwitter, and freak out, that's certainly your prerogative. But this isn't going to mean a damn thing come November.

So I suppose we just sit quietly in the back of the bus making no sound desperately praying the homophobes won't notice us, it is an election year after all.

Please, these people need no reason to hate us they already do, nothing has even happened to Chick-fil-A and here we all are running scared.

Fuck that.

Going to CFA and being emboldened to go to the polls and vote for a mormon is entirely two different things...

There is the forest, you see a tree.

I do ...... as often as I can - not as much lately as i'd like

and my panties r fine right now

i just think we have a lotta mo on our side - lots of mo

and changing the narrative from what it is (bigotry of the founder of CFA) to what it's not (letting them be the victim) is dumb

what we want is press, stories, information getting to people on the fence

men's swimming is on ......... will u leave me alone ? ;)

Didn't see this originally.

It is one thing to run scared and I am pretty damn sure I have never done that; it is entirely another thing to being politically ignorant of what your actions spawn. Would this boycott and reaction be any different in November 2012? I think not.

Also to be clear where the line was crossed was when inept non homosexual mayors of major cities attempted to restrain the legal right of persons to have a religious belief and exist freely in the society. We would have been golden had they not done that. That action emboldens a whole new group of voters who would likely stay home when faced with what they know or an inept mormon.

Really? That's the best you've got?

I'm not suggesting that at all.

Personally, I've found NOTHING more divisive than the "Gay Marriage" debate here in Texas, then asking my straight family and friends to stop eating fried chicken sandwiches with pickles, not to mention asking them to give up "waffle fries."

"The Gays" haven't defined the debate.

The "Christian" Hate Groups throughout America have defined the debate against Disney World, for "Gay Days," the Home Depot, American Airlines, United...pick a corporate sponsor.

But "The Gays" have been painted into a corner by the same group of nut bags, for hating a fucking "chicken sandwich."

Do you see where I'm going with this?

You responded far to quickly to my post in this thread to have actually read the link that I shared, so let's try this again:

Get you knee jerk out of over drive, and you might discover that we can sit calmly where we are. :)
