Chick-fil-a Can Bite Me

When is this hatred going to end?! Even if you privately are prejudiced against anyone, don't you think it's an idiotic business move to publicly come out as a bigot?!
Why is this hatred seen as a badge of honor by the religious sect?
Any kind of prejudice is an embarrassment and should be treated as such!
So screw you Chick-fil-a! Even after you drag yourself out of your primordial soup of hatred and change your mind, I still won't eat at your ignorant establishment!!
...how many times have you ate at chick-fil-a in the last year?...

Nobody who is going to Chick-fil-A for this reason would have voted Democrat anyway.

End of story.

Not true. I saw as many blacks at CFA today as whites...many were being interviewed about the protest on local news and CNN, and not alot of pro-gay comments by them. So, are you trying to tell me that all of these African Americans at CFA today are Republicans? Hell, they're just about the only Dems in GA. By the way, I live in a blue county that is also a Cfa loving city, too, apparently:twisted:.

I bet you leave alot of movies and sports events not knowing how they end. Earlier today, you said the story was "dead" by the media-- only to have it escalate on every channel known to man later today, and now you've declared your profile of the Cfa protester as fact and that's the 'end of the story'.

^^^ Chance1 Buddy! :D

You were/are in advertising.

CFA got millions of dollars in FREE ADVERTISING over this shit; spread out over "social media" no doubt.

Either the CEO is an idiot, or his Gay PR rep gives some really good head/pillow talk!

What say you? ;)

I can't imagine that their food wouldn't stick in my throat.
I would eat shit before I ever wolfed down one of their hate saturated entrees.
...if you stopped eating at or buying food from closet bigots towards gays ...you'd have to grow your own food...

as is often the case I'm not sure what you're saying

when the narrative was one note - as in henson quits CFA, founder on camera spewing ignorance

GOLD JERRY

he was exposed as a small minded guy - it's a WIN for us

then a couple of talk then think or talk and never think types - mayors plus - decided to weigh in - for their own benefit no doubt

and the narrative changed

the message has gone from intolerant founder of cfa to they're deny them their freedom of speech

the latter may have happened either way but would've been much less pronounced

does that answer your question?

i like the swimmers better than the gymnasts

do you honestly think strip malls and shopping centers are public property?

Since no one federal or local has attempted to do anything to Chick-fil-A, nor are they going to you are absolutely safe. You just live in a country where it's perfectly legal in a lot of places to discriminate against your faggot ass, where you don't have the rights straight people have and were the owners of Chick-fil-A are giving millions of dollars to hate groups to ensure you never do.

Why are we all so pussy hurt over some hater and his greasy food?
Apparently you missed the fact that an Aldermen in Chicago and the Mayor of Boston have both said point blank they would stop CFA from opening stores in their cities.

Eh, the Chicago CFA wasn't a very big deal. A big line, but there's always one, and a few aimless gay activist looking confused in front of the entrance...

They were bigger than usual, actually. The only one we have out here was packed when I drove by. (and it has never been that busy, even when it opened)

Really? That's the best you've got?

I'm not suggesting that at all.

Personally, I've found NOTHING more divisive than the "Gay Marriage" debate here in Texas, then asking my straight family and friends to stop eating fried chicken sandwiches with pickles, not to mention asking them to give up "waffle fries."

"The Gays" haven't defined the debate.

The "Christian" Hate Groups throughout America have defined the debate against Disney World, for "Gay Days," the Home Depot, American Airlines, United...pick a corporate sponsor.

But "The Gays" have been painted into a corner by the same group of nut bags, for hating a fucking "chicken sandwich."

Do you see where I'm going with this?

You responded far to quickly to my post in this thread to have actually read the link that I shared, so let's try this again:

We Are Not Arguing Over Chicken

Get you knee jerk out of over drive, and you might discover that we can sit calmly where we are. :)

come on, I live in the same state you do born and raised and probably have pretty much the same friends and family you do, and a bunch of them are pompous Baptist gas bags sucking cock on the right.

They all get terribly offended about the gay marriage, but it does not motivate them. There isn't one of them I can think of who's going to run out and become an activist for chick-fucking fil a.

Chick-fil-A is not, has never been, and never will be the issue. I agree with you there.

And whatever you want to call it, hyperbole is what the fucking chicken sandwich is, and I don't know a single person in real life who thinks this is about a chicken sandwich. I'm sorry if you do, I'm sorry if the guy in the article that does, but there's nothing I can do about that.

Everyone I know whether they agree with me or not comprehends why I'm not going to eat there. they don't find that hard to understand at all.

Nor do any of the Baptist haters in my family boycott Disney or Home Depot or anyone else. I suspect that those of them that actually eat there are not going to stop, and those that don't are not going to start.

The history of civil rights in this country is not "sitting calmly" no one is going to respect your position unless you stand up for yourself.

The Chick-fil-a I frequent is the first and only Black owned Chick joint in the City...I will continue to support them as long as they continue to provide good customer service...
The Spicy Chicken is excellent....And the Eye-Candy during the lunch hour is off the Damn Chain....Cops, Contruction workers, Correctional officers, EMT's...You dont have to go inside just enjoy the view @ drive-thru....
...good for you...monority owned business need our support...i was the only white customer in a black owned restaurant for 5-years ...they treatyed me with dignity ...gave me good service ... and the food was good ...

Okay, I don't usually do this (you know how I HATE to make threads all about me) but I could use a little wisdom from the regulars if possible.

I mentioned the other day that I was having an issue with a friend over the Chick-Fil-A flap.

I AM having a Chick-Fil-a issue with the husband of one of my oldest friends (since kindergarten) who got the right wing/Limbaugh memo that the "intolerant" left is trying to shut down CFA restaurants (STILL waiting for the names of the stores) for having an opinion, conveniently omitting the support of anti-gay groups that is really fueling this. I quote my friend, "the intolerant people are the ones that want to shut down CFA for having an opinion despite absolutely no evidence that they use that opinion to discriminate against gay employees or customers." It's going to be an uphill battle but I hope I can get through to him or I'm out.

This is a rough draft of the note I am sending him in an effort to make him realize what this actually means. If anybody has time, would you mind giving it a look to see if I've left anything out? I'm probably sending it in the morning, so anything anyone can tell me tonight would be a great help. Pardon the momentary thread derailment and thanks in advance for any and all help.

Paul,

I wanted to take a minute to send you a note implore you to reconsider your support for Dan Cathy and Chick-Fil-A. I know we spoke (very briefly) and superficially about it the other day but I was hoping to take the time to frame the issue for you in a way that made it clear how very important this is.

I understand, for you, the issue seems to be their 1st Amendment right to free speech. You and I are both in agreement on this. Dan Cathy has every right to speak his mind and have his opinion, and any attempt to stop him from doing business via political red tape or government intrusion is wrong, plain and simple. Except for a few people who have decided to make statements that Chick-Fil-A is not welcome in their cities, however, there is no legal plan in place that I am aware of (in any of those cities) to actually block the stores from opening. There is also no attempt to close any existing stores.

Protests and boycotts by private citizens based on the actions and statements of that company, however, fall well within the parameters of the 1st Amendment. The constitution does not give us the right to speak in a vacuum and to be free of any consequences for what we say. Until Dan Cathy can prove that he has been denied something by the government or actually jailed for his opinion, he cannot say his 1st Amendment rights have been violated. I am not violating his rights by refusing to spend a red cent in his establishment, nor am I doing so by urging friends and family to do the same.

It is one thing to support his right to free speech (which I also support) but quite another to support the company itself. Supporting the company supports their message. Their message, based on their words and actions, is one of intolerance, bigotry, and exclusion. I'm not sure where the idea came from that people are attempting to claim that the company discriminates against gay employees or customers. To my knowledge, no one has actually ever claimed this and it is not the point at all. Whoever has decided to frame the argument to you in this manner is using a red herring to obfuscate the true nature of the outrage.

In addition to Dan Cathy's speech in which he used words to describe the fight for marriage equality rights as "twisted up," "deprived," and "arrogant," Chick-Fil-A has donated over 5 million dollars to the anti-gay groups "Focus on the Family" "Family Research Council" and "Exodus International."

http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.co...ed-up-kind-of-stuff/politics/2012/07/24/44412

To break them down:

"Focus on the Family" is a group founded by James Dobson whose biblically inspired anti-gay rhetoric is a cornerstone of their ideology. They have fought against equal protection under the law for gay Americans for as long as I can remember.
Talking Points (Pro-Gay Theology) - Focus on the Family

"Family Research Council" is the anti-gay group run by Tony Perkins (NOT the actor)
http://www.frc.org/get.cfm?incl=search/SEARCH_RESULTS&f=SEARCH_RESULTS&text_search=gay&x=0&y=0

"Exodus International" is group that, until very recently, practiced "Reparation Therapy" on gay men and women. You may have heard it spoken of facetiously as "Pray the Gay Away" but there is much more to it than that. It was families putting their children through (what amounts to) sanctioned spiritual torture because these children were taught that they were unworthy of the love of God or their family unless they became something other than what they were. The stories of depression and, in some cases, suicide that resulted from this are heartbreaking. Although Exodus no longer practices this sham therapy, they are still working vehemently against the rights of fellow Americans to be protected under the law from discrimination.
Exodus International

As for marriage equality, most of those who are working against it see it from a strictly religious perspective. Marriage, however, is a civil, state sanctioned contract that does not rely on religion for its validity. Members of the clergy are allowed to work on behalf of the state to legally perform marriages. You can still have a legal marriage without the benefit of "clergy" but you cannot have a religious marriage recognized without the state license. Both a marriage performed by a priest and a marriage performed by a JP (or even, for that matter, a drive-in chapel in Las Vegas) are equal in the eyes of the law. To have Dan Cathy refer to us and our relationships as "illegitimate" and to give these large amounts of money to groups dedicated to keeping us 2nd class citizens (or worse) is appalling to me and, I hope, to those I know and call friends.

I understand that rights for gays (and marriage rights in particular) are not something that are on your day to day radar, as they are on mine, but I beg you to look at it from both a human rights as well as a family perspective. Your boys will be close to marrying age soon and, God willing, grandchildren won't be all that far behind. If one or more of those grandchildren should turn out to be gay, will you be able to look them in the eye and tell them you stood in support of a militant group who thought of them as unworthy of God's love or as "illegitimate" in their relationships and lives?

Please not I have not yet written the conclusion. Thanks guys!

In an interview, Cathy said, “"I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,' and I pray God's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to try to redefine what marriage is about."

Judgement? I feel sorry for her. I'll pray for her and these people. The Creator gave us all a heart to L.O.V.E! He gave us life and we all we do with it is judge!

Do you pay any attention to the news? The Aldermen in Chicago (Moreno) already has. Menino's letter was sent to the proposed CFA's property management company. THAT is action. Pay more attention.

Didn't see this originally.

It is one thing to run scared and I am pretty damn sure I have never done that; it is entirely another thing to being politically ignorant of what your actions spawn. Would this boycott and reaction be any different in November 2012? I think not.

Also to be clear where the line was crossed was when inept non homosexual mayors of major cities attempted to restrain the legal right of persons to have a religious belief and exist freely in the society. We would have been golden had they not done that. That action emboldens a whole new group of voters who would likely stay home when faced with what they know or an inept mormon.

And I didn't see this. Non-homosexual mayors shot off their mouths and did not attempt to actually do anything.

That is not illegal. PERIOD. the property company is under no obligation to pay any attention.

Call me when he tries to use the police to shut someone down.

pay more attention.

I think that's precisely what they were doing. And you suffer from the same problem, there has been no legal action attempted to restrain Chick-fil-A in any way whatsoever.

I'm not going to boo-hoo until that happens.

My mom always told me to "Kill them with kindness." So I intend to eat there every chance I get.
But I think it it cool that we live in free country that allows us to eat what and where we want.
Oh, wait a minute, I forgot about Bloomberg and the First Lady.
My bad.
... i think thats a fine idea ... setting a descent public appearance will go much further towards furthering our cause than all the negative in-your-face displays ... and boycotts...ignore the negative responces ...

Okay, somebody is lying in regards to the Muppets/Chickfila divorce.
Muppets people say they are severing relationship because of gay marriage issue.
ChickfilA is posting signs in their stores saying that as of 7/19, they have VOLUNTARILY pulled the Muppet toy due to safety concerns. It goes on to say that while no one has died from the toy puppets, some kids fingers got stuck in the puppet and it could be a safety concern. They are giving away ice cream cones as a replacement.
So, obviously since we knew from Jim Henson's people's FB page about their ending the relationship first, people are assuming Cfa is blatantly lying. However, perhaps Cfa had already told the Muppet people that the toy was unsafe, so the Henson people pre-emptively controlled the story by using the gay marriage flare up as a way to bow out first. Just playing the other side....it certainly looks like a lie to me. A friend shot me a photo of the signage in an Atlanta cfa earlier today.
...sounds logical to me...a typical business ploy...
