  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

Christmas song that drives you nuts!

"my favorite things" tops my list of obnoxious songs. i feel that that song isnt a christmas song, and they include it as such because it lists winter kind of things in the lyrics

Wonderful Christmas Time - Paul McCartney

Christmas Eve In Washington - Maura Sullivan

Hate just HATE these two songs, I change the station whenever I hear these songs.

Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer. I don't know why really. It just isn't very "Christmasy" to me. I dig the animated tv classic though.

I don't know about other places, but The Sound of Music has been regular Christmas fare for many decades. That's possibly why the song is associated with Christmas.

He quietly enters the Grinch/Scrooge thread ( for those of you working retail, who have been subjected to Christmas Carols since before Halloween, I give you a pass).

Sorry you guys get overloaded - I actually haven't heard a lot of them this year - I enjoy most, although Pretty Pete's not-so-lovely Jingle Bells would certainly make my least favourite list.

May I have some more, sir?

And, I can understand the UK issue with Drummer Boy - it's a horrific association that the song is innocent of, but marred by.

May you all be blessed with the music of your choice in the following days.

.za malls kill the Boney M Christmas album (a special shout-out to all you eldergays out there! :D), along with Mariah Carey's one and Kenny G's one.

I've yet to do my shopping this Christmas so I haven't been bombarded yet. That's tomorrow's mission once I close up shop at work for the year.

Cue the horrendous strains of that shrieking harridan and Feliz Navidad.

-d-

There're several. Some of which have been mentioned in the thread; the defunct grandma one and throwing rocks around or at the Yule tree or whatever for example.

I also dislike, Six White Boomers. Can't believe no one mentioned that one yet.

A lot of the stuff you all seem to hate I enjoy. I've never heard Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer. In my case, I would have celebrated, so I'm guessing I would like that song. Not so fond of 6 white boomers or ave maria, but the rest i enjoy.

bankside, at your service...

ring christmas bells, ring, ringaling! ring christmas bells, ring, ringaling! Ding, Dong, Ding, Dong...Merry Merry Merry Christmas, Merry Merry Merry Christmas!

THAT ONE!

yeah I always seem to associate Christmas with Nazi's ... ;) LOL

on the flipside I love the Dominic the Donkey - yes, it's grating and silly, but I love it.

Daniel was actually born during the war in 1943, so he was 22 when the movie came out in '65.

Oh, and I noticed I left the 'e' off Rolfe. Oopsie.

I was actually referring to the song - "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" where Rolfe states he's 17 ("going on 18") - but thanks for the tidbit on the actor - they always tend to play roles that are younger than their actual age.

It's a holiday season :) and Christmas songs are on the air

Which song whenever plays would make you want to kill someone?

Mine is Rapampampam-song; Little drummer boy :dead:

Twelve days of Christmas and any variations of said song.

The main issue with the song is that it has been severely overplayed over the years, so many who really liked the song when they first heard it have since become sick and tired of it.

For most people, novelty songs TEND to "wear out" faster than "regular" songs, because the novelty factor is soon lost, though that's generally not true with me and novelty songs. Once I hear and like a novelty song, I tend to continue to like it after hearing it more times,.

The only song that I can not stand, it really isn't a Christmas Song, but it's right after Christmas.... auld lang syne. I HATE this song so much, I want to pull my hair out.

I have no idea who sings this but I fucking hate it...

"Last Christmas I gave you my heart"...(and some mother fucking words I don't remember](*,))...."tore it apart"...

I hear it when I am shopping a lot and it makes my skin crawl.

Last Christmas I gave you my heart, but the very next day you gave it away
This year to save me from tears, I'll give it to some one special.

I believe Wham came out with it, but not sure.
