..but it will be a prepackaged deal. Apparently 3 hedge funds wouldnt agree to terms, now they will face cram down in court. They also had insurance against the losses!! Also Chrysler and Fiat agree to merger. Chrysler-Fiat has a nice ring to it.

Fiat should bring back the Airflow. It couldn't be worse than any of the junk it sells.

Ask anyone in North America who owned one before the company buggered off back to Italy, tarred and feathered with its own hubris and mobile junk yard.

Meh.

I'd rather have a Fiat 500 than anything produced by any of the US Big Three.

Finally...maybe Chrysler will stop making ugly assed cars.

They need to - Fiat had sh*t in early 80s when they departed USA. But new mgmt has brought in new quality. The Fiats I see on Fiat website are nice! Yes to Chrysler-Fiat!

This is who Obama is, as I've been showing since the Primaries.

...
The sources, who represent creditors to Chrysler, say they were taken aback by the hardball tactics that the Obama administration employed to cajole them into acquiescing to plans to restructure Chrysler. One person described the administration as the most shocking "end justifies the means" group they have ever encountered. Another characterized Obama was "the most dangerous smooth talker on the planet- and I knew Kissinger." Both were voters for Obama in the last election.

One participant in negotiations said that the administration's tactic was to present what one described as a "madman theory of the presidency" in which the President is someone to be feared because he was willing to do anything to get his way. The person said this threat was taken very seriously by his firm. ...

These allegations add to the picture of an administration willing to use intimidation to win over support for its Chrysler plans--and then categorically deny it.

Seduction, bullying, cheating, lying. When people like that have absolute power it does not turn out well.

Lolzwithsprinklesontop.

If you and all the like minded supporters of Chrysler were to act and buy Chrysler cars, now, that would really help them a lot. Why don't you also pay for extended warranty too! ;)

I'm not a "supporter of Chrysler." I'd never buy a Chrysler, I have no stock in it and am not invested in its future.

People don't buy cars because they have stock invested in the company.

The only reason any business survives is because its products are worth buying. I see your singular lack of enthusiam in Chrysler's products as disappointing, especially given amount of effort you put into scapegoating.

Moan about using tax payer dollars to keep these private companies afloat.
Moan about not using said monies to keep these private companies afloat.

Which is it to be? And why would Obama be the scapegoat for your dilemmas about saving jobs or wasting tax dollars? If you truely believe in America and capitalism, then Chrysler should fold. Too bad about the jobs. After all, that's the paradox of capitalism, and living in that system, you'd be best place to understand....

I never said they did. Although maybe some do.

Nonsense.

Lots of businesses survive and prosper because of their marketing.

Chrysler's products don't interest me. Never have. And my interest or lack thereof is irrelevant to its success or failure, and also to the point I made in my post above.

I don't moan about politics or business.

Looks like you're having a reading comprehension problem.

Yep. You appear to have a reading comprehension problem.

My criticism was of Obama's techniques of seduction and intimidation.

Bush : I'm a uniter, not a divider.
Bush: You're either with me or against me.

But if it floats your boat, go ahead and moan about whatever's sticking in your craw.

I guess your craw has been stuck since the primaries.

So if Obama went through and saved Chrysler from its grizzly end, would you be congratulating him for it?

I don't think it's the job of the President of the United States to save individual businesses in the position Chrysler is in.

And I do not believe the ends justify the means.

But if Obama, in an honorable way, turned Chrysler into a profitable business, sure I'd congratulate him for it. I'd congratulate anybody who did that.

yeah. after we funneled how many billions of dollars into them and was told it was "a loan". Many experts said it wasn't going to work but we did it anyway. I didn't want to see people lose their jobs and the communities suffer too. However the taxpayers threw billions of dollars down the drain and now they are bankrupt anyways.

I think they should have done it from the very beginning. Would have saved tons of money and the communities would have had several months to start recovering by now.

I've been pointing out for a long time how similar Bush and Obama are. And there it is again.

Obama is Bush 2.0

What would the 'honorable way' be, pray tell?

Obama is hobbled by the state of the finances in his fumbling attempts to solve the current crisis. You can promise things based on assumptions, that's what Obama did before he came to be elected. But when he viewed the true figures, he did tell you folks that it wasn't going to be easy. You've been forewarned, and I say, so its all moot, IMO.

But, I'm a British, we know we have smarmy leaders to begin with, and we don't have any truck with evangelising politicians.
