Clint Eastwood steals the RNC

The word is out that Clint's speech made Barry very nervous last night. I hear he was tweeting during the speech.

The use of the chair was classic.

It's the only speech people will remember a month from now.

Look for the dem's to try something similar next week in Charlotte.

It's not becoming of you guys to make fun of a 82 yo man.

Chance, baby, you get too defensive about the GOP these days. You must lighten up, especially after a fun filled vacation on the Cape. Glad you had fun.

I admit there were some good speeches. Condoleeza Rice was good, Susanna Martinez was good. Neither lied. Watch the whole Clint Eastwood debacle, though. It was really crazy. I like him and was embarrassed for him. There's a big difference between acting and making a political speech. Someone goofed by not making sure he was prepared, had practiced with the teleprompter (I wonder if he ever presented an award at the Academy Awards), and was not on prime time.

Clint's speech at the RNC was so good, Obama wanted to meet with him pesonally to discuss his concerns.

It wasn't that disastrous, IMO. It was inappropriately timed though, better suited for earlier in the week, not as a lead in to Romney's biggest speech of his life. Didn't care for his ulterior message and disrespect; but some parts did have some comedic value. Not bad for an 80+ year old guy. I'm not going to hate on him for not loving the guy I will likely be voting for.

The man is 82 years old. He's not going to be as quick as he used to be. I still think his humor was hilarious.

Eastwood is not a pawn of the republican party. He gave a warning to all politicians that they worked for the people of the US.

One thing about the past week that really hits me -- all the pundits from the right and left and those that say they are journalists wanted the week to go their way, they wanted all the speakers to say certain things and were upset when they didn't follow their advice.

There is no perfect way to run a convention and most Americans don't watch the conventions anyway.

When they invited him their mental image must have been of the Clint of twenty or thirty years ago. None of them would have conceived of the enfeebled derelict they got.

I actually feel sorry for Clint.

I find it funny that the GOP thinks that Eastwood is "cool." LOL. That's the funny part.

Don't hold your breathe. . . On second thought, by all means, go ahead and hold your breathe...|

not at all sweetie - i get defensive about individuals whom i respect greatly taking the low road making absurd statements like yours that ALL REPUBLICANS LIE

fact checking is out of control btw - the 'lie" factor is dopey dumb

I read some of Marco Rubio's speech - good one as well

Mitt was excellent - very human - he had not been to date

btw, do me a favor and visit a thread about "political concessions"

i'm pretty sure you have it in you

exactamundo

i've seen more of it today - and while it was inappropriate IMO, it was not a disaster

just an msnbc stated disaster

are you feeling lucky punk? I'm gonna say that to one of the Dead pretty soon btw ;)

It was painful to watch. Really painful. I felt sorry for the old man.

hopefully JB when you're 82 you'll look and sound as good as him

i hope so for your case

don't feel sorry for him - he's doing just fine

has the guy made a bad movie as an actor or director?

Big Barry said earlier in the week that he wasn't watching the RNC -- evidently he lied --- Chris Matthews and Rev Al might want to go bonkers over that lie. (doubt it)

Death threat? Wow! My first one.

A side question: Do you people visit your elderly relatives and neighbors?

Just surprising how mean some people have been to a man that's 82 years old. You could learn a lot from someone that's older.

I think he had that chair there just in case standing got to be a little too much. And a chair looks better than a walker. He then worked that chair into the speech at the last moment.

And I have a great-great-aunt who is sharp as a tack and speaks more cohesively than him and she has a pinched nerve.
