Clinton suggests race will be over next week

She is more electable against McCain in the fall.

Where's your proof?
Virtually all Republicans hate her, and half the Democrats, too. So how is she more electable against McCain? Where's your proof that the people who voted in the primaries will vote the same way against McCain? You do know that there are incidences where Hillary has won against Barack because Republicans voted in an attempt to help knock him out of the race, right? You think they'll vote for her against McCain?

Oh and while were on the subject of people running their mouth..Obama can sure run his mouth and his ministers can put in their two cents worth and it's all ok.

I don't recall Obama endorsing anything these preachers have said.
And you're acting like Hillary's some demure innocent keeping her mouth shut on the sidelines.

Men are afraid of a woman who is able to a job as well or better than a man can.

No, we're not. We get irritated with women who insist they can do a job as well or better than us simply because they're women.

If I were to name the candidate who's run a more well-knit, fiscally-responsible, modern and progressive campaign, it wouldn't be the woman.

Granted, the woman is the one who's resorted to all manners of emotional histrionics because things aren't going her way.

And after maintaining a respectful distance in the final weeks of the campaign, Obama campaign aides have begun to reach out to their counterparts on the Clinton campaign in hopes of pulling together and ameliorating hard feelings.

This is what Obama and a majority of his supporters are all about.
Though more of us would vote for Clinton, than her supporters would vote for Obama, his team knows that "us" needs to include "them" in unity vs the Republicans.

She's never said that.

I'm an Obama supporter, but I'll be the first to say that Hillary has never said "I'm better than Obama because I'm a woman". Her "better than Obama" gimmick is all about "experience"; she merely treats her gender as the added bonus.

If either camp hopes to work toward unity, we've got to stop throwing up fake, exaggerated strawman versions of the candidates just to knock them down.

I agree. It is time to ratchet down the rhetoric and work towards unity. I think Hillary is going to deliver the most compelling speech of her career later this week when she concedes the nomination to Obama. And then she and Bill are going to park it in Appalachia and work to deliver the region to the Democrats in November.

Her supporters have suggested it, however. Take your pick of the quotes on this very Forum from her many Feminist supporters. These are the same supporters that tried to bullshit me and denied that it was about Gender, but rather "Experience" when I first leveled the charge against them last year. Now, that her Experience claims have been debunked, as it has been exposed that Hillary has essentially performed functions typical to your average First Lady, her supporters are less and less denying the Feminist charges yet are taking the "I don't care. I still want a Woman president" approach. This behavior is nothing less than shameful, especially when you have a Woman as dishonest as Clinton. This has got to be the joke around the World.

Midnight, consider your position vindicated. And don't expect any Hillary supporters to offer their apologies.

Let's move on and elevate the discussion to the general election. Democrats need to take back the White House. To do so, Democrats need Hillary and her supporters.

Never saw anyone - even the most annoying Clinton supporters on this board - say any such thing. "I don't care, I still want a woman" is as much a strawman as if we pretended your approach is "I don't care, I still want a black man."

If you want unity (and maybe you don't), it would behoove you to find some way to reach out to those supporters by coming to terms with their excitement about a female president, swallowing your self-righteous disdain, and moving on with your life. Without most of their support Obama won't beat McCain, and I doubt they'll be anymore swayed to join your ranks if you continue to gleefully insult their values and their candidate.

Kurn said that if I'm not mistaken about trying to get a woman in the White House.

Lol. So funny.

I didn't/don't know too many gay people off the board. And well, the ones here are showing me that stereotypes are maybe indeed rooted in some truth.

I guess gay men really do have an affinity towards women's feelings.

And Backlum, I'm not reaching out to any Hillary supporter. You are a grown adult. I'm not offering you an Olive Branch either. No one should have to tell an adult to do the right thing.

Do whatever you want when it comes to voting for president.

What, so she can make up some more crap and look even more foolish?

The Democrats need her supporters, but she should be kept on a short leash.

I am on record in my post history as condemning Blacks who are voting for Obama because of race, and originally supported Ron Paul on the GOP side (a white male) so you will never be able to nail me with the charge that I am voting for Obama because of race. I am a White Male, so I really have no single prejudice in either advancing a Feminist or advancing a Black Agenda in this thing.

This, for me, has always been about electing a candidate who is more likely to look out for the interests of the Middle Class, is the least connected to Corporate America, who has shown integrity, demonstrated good judgment, has the least amount of baggage, and is more likely to take us off the reckless course we are on right now with the Neocons in the White House.

However, just like Lost points out, many stereotypes about Gay Men are proving to be true when you look at the posts in this Forum with the amount of Gay Men who want us to vote for Hillary for the single fact that she is a Woman. And I'm sorry. I am not and will never do that.

It boggles my mind how grown adults can ignore:

Voting records- Iraq War, Patriot Act, Kyle-Lieberman Act. Sure seems to line up with the Neocons Agenda. Yet I suppose if she verbally says otherwise, that is good enough for her supporters. The proof is in the pudding, though, with her voting record.

Political Pandering- Gas Tax Holiday, telling Blacks that the House of Rep is run "like a plantation ... and you know what I'm talking about"

Double-speak- Withdrawing troops from Iraq, Driver's Licenses for Illegals ... (which is something I do disagree with Obama on, yet Hillary wanted to play both sides)

Influence of Lobbyists- Hillary has received more money from Corporate Lobbyists than any other candidate, on either the Republican or Democratic side ... as well as the most money from the Department of Defense ... something George W Bush received the most money from when he was elected. Isn't this comforting to know, when we are in the Middle of a Recession at the moment.

Dishonesty- Need I remind everyone about when she said she landed under Sniper fire on her trip to Bosnia? This did not happen at any point in her career, yet she insisted several times it did. Then, Bill Clinton tried to come to her side and claim she only said this one time when it was "late at night". Only when footage was resurrected was she forced to retract this lie. Besides, that isn't too comforting if we are to expect that she is more equipped to answer the phone at "3 AM in the morning".

Exaggerated Claims on Experience
- says she has 35 years of political experience. Maybe if she is counting hubbie Bill Clinton's experience in this. She says she has been tested. How exactly as she been tested when her records as First Lady indicate that she performed typical First Lady duties when she was in the White House?

Scandals- Google WhiteWater. She is the first First Lady to come under Criminal Investigation in American History.

And despite all this garbage, someone is going to tell me that I'm simply not voting for her because she is a Woman??? Give me a break. And I think it's an outright embarrassment to this country that her supporters are willing to overlook all of the above factors, for the simple fact that she is a Woman and they want a Woman president. Disgusting and shameful. What day and age do we live in? Is this really the year 2008?

So no, I will not apologize to taking these supporters to task for calling them out on their antics. The simple fact is that I have tried to talk reason to them in the past, and they have shown to me that they are not interested in listening to reason, and are only interested in electing a Woman president.

And then, they have the nerve to threaten to vote for McCain, if they don't get their way, as they kick and stomp their feet, despite the fact that Obama is winning this election fair and square through pledged delegates, Superdelegates, and the popular vote.

If anything, it is the Clinton Supporters that should be apologizing for their behavior, although no, I am not expecting that to transpire. However, they can apologize for their actions by supporting the Democratic nominee in the General Election and doing what is best for this country. Anything is better than another 4 years of Neocon rule in the White House, and deep down, I would hope that even they realize this. The fact that we even have people suggesting they would abandon their political views out of spite really demonstrates to me that we have people with maturity issues that are more content in playing Games with the political process than actually caring about Foreign and Domestic issues that not only affect us, but the Global community, as well.

Amen.

I couldn't agree more.

Midnight has done a good job of sumarizing the data, but I'm not ready to jump on his anti-feminist wagon. I'm still not convinced that Sen. Clinton's supporters here at JUB (with a very few exceptions) support her only because she is a woman.

I am a White Male, so I really have no single prejudice in either advancing a Feminist or advancing a Black Agenda in this thing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you also gay?

And haven't you repeatedly linked gay men to feminism?

If being male isn't enough to disprove prejudices toward feminism, why did you just use it to disprove your prejudices toward feminism?

And if, by your logic, a male can still be feminist, then what would stop an open-minded white man from promoting the "Black Agenda"?

You've dodged that blind-spot for months with your "I'm a white male therefore I have no prejudices" newspeak. In what topsy-turvy revisionist world does being a white male actually disprove the possibility of prejudice?

I'm a White Male that has proven by my words AND actions that I have no Racial/Gender bias in this election.

No, not all White Gay Men on here are Feminists, but there sure are a sizeable amount of them that sympathize and are willing to give "extra consideration" to someone because of their gender. And that is something I denounce.

Like I stated before, that you wished to ignore ... because it eliminates your argument, I voted and originally supported Ron Paul, a white male, on the GOP side first. When that didn't transpire, there was nobody left on the GOP side that I would remotely consider. Therefore, I looked to the Dems. You are free to go way back in my post history to verify this.

And I listed more than enough reasons why I don't support Hillary. I also have in my message history asking for more choices of Women to look at in this election, however Hillary is the only nominee, and one Woman that I am not willing to support. And I listed my reasons why.

So if you are trying to accuse me of not supporting Hillary because she is a Woman, or if you are accusing me of supporting Barack to advance a "Black Agenda" it isn't going to hold water. Check my message history last year. If I was out to advance a Black Agenda, you would have seen me supporting Obama from the start. That did not transpire.

Now, what else do you got?

I'm a White Male that has proven by my words AND actions that I have no Racial/Gender bias in this election.

Then why was merely being a white male (without qualifiying the "proof" of your words or actions) enough to absolve you of Feminism or Afrocentrism in your previous post?

I think I added to that statement and gave you my answer.

You mean you backpedaled.

Direct quote: "I am a White Male, so I really have no single prejudice..."

The causal conjunction is explicit.

Unless pressed, you clearly consider your white male status sufficient evidence that you could never be prejudiced... Which, against the context of the history of this nation, is ironic to say the least.

We support Clinon because she might Win - Obama will lose to McCain

I don't want him to be defeated - but that he will lose is the reality of USA Politics.

Clinton will be back in 3 years time - then she might win - McCain will probably not stand again - because of his age then - so she won't be fighting an incumbent President.

Senator Obama will just be a "might have been" footnote in USA History - but one that delayed a democrat presidency by 4 years.
