I've always been curious about Herpes, since sex ed in grade 5 madeit so confusing.
If a person has the Herpes Simples 1 virus (the lips one), and then give someone a blowjob, does that give the other person Herpes 1 around their mouth or around their dick, or does it become herpes 2 when it's brought down there?
It is possible to transfer (read: infect) someone with simplex 1 (lips) "down there" if contact is made. The contact need not be direct (i.e. lips to dick) it can be indirect (i.e. hand to lip, then hand to dick). So, if you, or your partner has a cold sore do not touch it. Wash your hands frequently. Or just wait it out and really reduce the risk.
To cold sore sufferers: I've read that certain foods can provide a more hospitable environment for the virus, thus potentially increasing the:
a) frequency
b) duration
c) severity
of a cold sore out break.
Fortunately these foods are limited (i.e. nuts for one) so don't stop eating food.
There are also some foods, supplements that provide an inhospitable environment for the virus, thus potentially reducing the above factors. One food is broccoli; unfortunately the enzyme in question is found in very little quantity, so I'm not even sure if it is effective. L-lysne (an amino acid) is supposedly another one.
The research on foods contribution to cold sore outbreaks is scant and sketchy at best... so it is just something to think about.
Now that you have the virus, you will likely have further outbreaks.
Learn your triggers and do your best to keep the virus under wraps.
Other potential triggers are:
-stress
-lack of proper sleep
-physical "damage" to the area (this could be as unassuming as making out with someone who has stubble, or as major as an unrelated injury to the area)
-poor diet (and by that I mean lack of a balanced diet, not the specifics mentioned above)
-excessive sun exposure
