You could always do it while he's away at class, unless of course your schedules dont work out that way. I never had to worry about that, I've always had my own apartment, but that's how my buddies who used to have to share a room did it. Hell, when I was dating my first boyfriend, we had sex in the bed while his room mate was on the bottom bunk sleeping, that was some hot shit.

I had a pretty similar conversation with my roommate, and we were both really relieved. Similarly, we both had a conversation about sleeping nude, and it turned out that we both slept nude--so no problem. Surely, in this day and age, your roommate is going to be confident in admitting that he jerks off--and consequently, relieved that you had the conversation.
