I was trapped in canada for a bit...but now I'm free to browse :)

Good to know! Now have at it! You've got a whole week to catch up on. Scoot! ;)

Okay...

So I just read Astonishing 15 and...

I was disappointed with how Logan got dealt with. I mean, it's effective, but i really wanted to see every square inch kicked and kicked hard.

And just what is NTW's powers? She dreams things that she wants to happen ahead of time so they happen?

I do enjoy what I now see to be Emma's master plan and how much it involves Kitty.

Logan's ass gets kicked in almost every book he's in - - so having his dignity ripped apart was the next logical course.

And it isn't clear what Nega's powers really are, but we all know that if she can control reality, then the writers are going to have some fun. Besides, she dreams what, fifty times in one night?

And is Nova there? or was she just projecting?

BTW, we are to assume that Ernst and Nova were the same character, right? So when did she shift from being strange Ernst to the devious Nova?

I wonder what they'll do with Hisako. Unlike the other New X-Men, Hisako seems the most likely to succeed in being writeable enough for readers to like her and become one of the known X-Men characters like the original New X-Men did.

For all we know, Nova could have just downright cloaked herself to Henry's animal senses. Nonetheless, she got to both of their minds without a problem, and that's hot. And since Morisson pretty much admitted that Nova was Ernst, there really wasn't any need for Joss to devote some panels to re-revealing that fact.

And truth be told, of the new generation of X-Men, I find Dust, Hellion, and of course, the Stepfords, to be the most intruiging.

EDIT: And for fuck's sake, I am so tired of the writers constantly portraying Iron Man (and the registration) as the second coming of Nazism. How the fuck are people going to decide when every writer out there makes Cap the obvious hero and Tony the obvious bad guy?

That's because Tony's a tool in every sense of the word. His powers are tool-based and he's a tool in general. And he's one of those disenting pansies who ends up messing shit up because of it (i.e. Young Avengers, in which his stern disagreement bends both jessica and Cap and then shit happens and Kate calls them all out on it...okay, that was unfair, but still)

...Captain America stands for freedom.

For new gens, I find Dust, the Cuckoos (but something is going to happen with them that won't make them actual X-Men ever), Hisako, David, Anole, and Pixie to be top contenders for more fleshing out and possible X-attention.

The others are kind of just there because they need people who have powers like that. They're not fleshing them out well at all. They're just sort of dropping it. Mercury's parent situation can be so much more, but her only Kevin can touch me quality has been done. Rockslide is 2-dimensional at best, Hellion's a standard hot shot and his powers are pretty common, Josh is pretty vacuous even with his insanity, Kevin is never going to be able to control his powers, Surge has something but it doesn't look like they'll ever get around to it and her powers are standard energy emitting, Laura's alright but I think they're just going to make her another Wolverine (as if she isn't already), I think they realized how too-powerful laurie was so they killed her, Sofia's powers were too generic which is why she's been completely blipped out (in contrast to David), and jay's just a whiny emo bitch.

I say that Anole and Pixie are goign to get something because they've been shown far too frequently not to. ixie's attitude seems like a bubbly one they haven't had in a while since both Kitty and Jubes are either grown up or miserable. Plus, Anole's been given screen time because of Northstar and the fact that he's gay. New X-Men's going to milk him for that, since they need a gay character to throw in there.

Did I miss anyone else?

Blindfold! I have no idea what they'll do with her.

Sellout, tool, whatever. The man is doing what he thinks is right. I'm behind him 100%. And don't forget, he never even wanted the bill to get pushed through in the first place - - it was only when it did that he realized the best option on how to deal with it was to actually work on it from the inside, to allow for the smoothest transition possible.

Superheroes ARE vigilantes. And vigilantes ARE illegal. The only reason everyone turned a blind eye to that was because up til now, the heroes were careful enough to keep collateral damage to a minimum.

(P.S. I don't recall what happened in YA though, could you refresh my memory?)

Anyway, Joss seems to like the idea that it's Blindfold who's going to predict when somebody dies (Wing primarily). I like her. As for the New X-Men themselves, yeah they're stereotypes, but they are well-written stereotypes who's own title is leagues above the bullshit that are Adjectiveless and Uncanny. I think Pixie and ANole are there just to remind us that there are actually some students other than the New X-Men left in the campus.

Dust is killer. And I think they ended up writing Kevin off because of Elixir's newly acquired power (give the kid some justification as to be called Omega).

This one's for all the comic geeks in da house!

INTRO...

Man... I get all geeked out whenever I see it. I'm getting goose bumps!

...actually, i never really liked that intro. It seemed really lame to me and the CG sucked :P But the Justice League Unlimited opening was cool :)

In YA, after everythign with kree/Skrull is settled and Patriot is stabilized, Cap suggest again that the kids go back to normal lives.

Kate tells him that the moment he can walk again, Patriot will keep fighting crime, just liek they all will and that she can't help but feel that if Cap and iron Man had trained them, then all of this wouldn't have happened. Billy's parents' home wouldn't have been destroyed, Teddy's mom wouldn't have been killed, and Patriot wouldn't have gotten himself nearly killed. If Cap and Iron Man had taken them seriously and trained them in protecting themselves and using their powers, they could have avoided a lot of the mishaps that happened.

So afterwards, Jessica Jones visits them and gives Kate Hawkeye's quill from Cap with a card that says 'for Hawkeye'. They don't know fi that means that they get to use the facilities, so we'll probably figure it out in the next arc.

I meant when Tony forced dissention between Jess and Cap.

Hmmm...I don't think so.

I really would like to see Northstar again, though. Is he still being de-evilized at some undisclosed location?

Wolverine was revealed to be a sleeper cell and he was triggered and ended up killing Northstar 9even though Elixer managed to heal him). Then as the team was deciding what to do (cut off his head so that the hand couldn't revive him) the hand managed to teloport in, efeated the X-Men stole his body, revived him and I think Wolverine defeated him again but didn't kill him.

Nightcrawler's all upset about Colossus being gay and won't speak with him. Jean grey's fine with it and obviously all of the other team is too except for Kitty because I just don't think she knows. Even Emma's team is obviously okay with it.

Spidey and Kitty are dating and doing fabulously, though when MJ confronts him he kind of admits that he's more with Kitty because she won't be at risk if his villains go after his loved ones than he is because he loves her.

Oh that's hot...Yes....YES!

DMZ? Please expand.

It also pleased me to read Spiderman and see him lay it out flat for Tony Stark. Tool.

Oh, btw, does anyone read The Sandman? I read Endless Nights and I absolutely love it ;)

I have the complete run of the original Sandman series by Neil Gaiman. Loved the series, but always hated having to wait a month to get the next chapter in the saga. I'd spend hours scrutinizing the covers, because the original cover artist always included such interesting tidbits on teh bookcases.

the new wonder woman comic came out in june and now #2 isn't coming out till the middle of august!? what the fuck? why do dc and marvel keep hiring tv and movie writers who are to busy with those projects to get the comics out on time? wonder woman's 65th anniversary is this year and already the re launch of her book is way behind.thank god the writer is only taking on 5 issues. i expected more from a gay wonder woman writer!! look how great phil jimenez did. his run was really good. just as good as george perez's re launch in 1987. and speaking of ww if she does have a movie come out in the next year or so than do you guys think an animated series will follow? they did it for superman and batman. i would love to see her very own cartoon. her episodes on the jl and jlu were great.

Luminum: DMZ is about what happens should the United States go to a real Civil War, where the States have it at each other. On one side, there are the Free States (New Jersey, etc.) who are probably sick of what passes for democracy, and the United States who are basically composed of territories that didn't defect. Slam bang in the middle is Manhattan island, now completely cordoned off, where the major battles are always held. DMZ follows a photo journalism intern who gets stranded there after a news special gone wrong, and gives us a cool view of what happens when the shit hits the fan.

Blue: Well, if the guy's doing an okay job, then iI suppose it's worth the wait.

I've been a bit interested in those one-shot collections of graphic novel works, such as Why Are You Doing This? by Jason.

They're just so interesting and unique to consider and usually very simple.
