Congratulations Fox News on 15 Years

Cripes, there goes Springer dismissing everything he doesn't agree with again.

Bob, you remind me of a brother-in-law.

He just wishes FNC would go away. Life would be so much easier then.

He's the guy that everyone ... liberal or conservative in our family stays away from at family gatherings.

He's also the guy that triple dips our country's treasury with retirement benefits -- and still isn't satisfied.

Chance, good buddy, Rachel Maddow featured conservatives on her show several times, including the infamous segment where she butchered Rand Paul. Surely you remember that segment?

Unfortunately, due to a direct edict issued from the desk of Karl Rove, they will no longer appear on her show, even though she sends out plenty of invitations.

Ed Shultz, likewise, has sent out numerous invitations, including a recent one to the governor of Ohio, but none have chosen to appear.

she did indeed butcher Senator Paul - he was bumbling and stumbling

so your contention is that they want these folks on but alas they won't come?

sorry not buying it

they don't do interviews as it takes time from the modus operandi which is to provide a single voice - of multiple voices saying the same thing

"you're right Keith/Rachel/Ed/Chris" etc.

Rachel has the chops to interview fairly - and make the other side defend their position smartly ....... or not

The others are far too interested in hearing their own voices

but I like the "buddy" ;)

are you paying attention? do you watch either channel?

msnbc doesn't have bad experiences with conservatives on their channel - as none are invited on to chat

MONOLOGUE is what happens in primetime or 2 guests who head nod

your experience is based on shit posted here - snippets carefully collected - not on an ongoing watch/learn

so i don't know what to say other than you're apparently not capable of forming a fair opinion

sorta like the diss on fox news viewers - uninformed

Darn I could have sworn I saw Richard John "Rick" Santorum on the ED Show just the other night. I don't think many (Repulbicans) go on the evening talk shows though the invite is there, must be a pledge to only go on Fox? By the way I was surprised Ed was gentle on him and his one platform to lower the taxes on the job creators. Wow now thats a earth shaking isn't it?

I was in DC last winter and I had the rare treat of being in the room with a distant uncle at a family gathering. He is 82 and sat glued watching Fox news and it was like he was in a trance just the crawler and fast paced way it moved from one story to another mainly ditching the dems and talking up wars or making little of anything Obama. They also focus heavy in that segement on big boobs woman and sex stories, sort of like a Tabloid. But I didn't pay that much attention.

This was in the morning with the 3 bimbo/bimbos. My distant uncle didn't pay attention to anything else even if you talked to him. All of the sudden a story came on Social Security and he looked at me and said damn that Obama he gives everyone else money but I haven't got a increase in Social Security in 2 years and he just voted not to give Social Security people a one time lump sum of $250.00,.......... plus he has raised my property taxes in Panama Beach City Florida.
Yeah, way to go you old goat you are a classic example of a low information voter ..| As the commercial for "I've fallen and I can't get up" came on I left the room. I would say my uncle is more typical of demographic rather classic in fact than not.

I find it ironic that many of the nominees that Fox News viewers want to support, actively call Social Security a Ponzi scheme, or otherwise want to limit or cut it.

This would increase the suffering of people like your uncle, who presumably are the ones voting for them in the first place.

I see it as a kind of indirect suicide.

Johann, that's the beauty of propaganda. Fox are masters at selling ideas to people that aren't good for themselves.

They're like tobacco advertisers. The product will kill you, but they make you believe you want it and your life will be better with it.

Fox is the deadly drug pusher of networks.

msnbc doesn't have bad experiences with conservatives on their channel - as none are invited on to chat

This claim keeps getting made here.
Every time, it has been proven wrong.
You have been in those threads.

Ergo, you are either deliberately lying or have a very selective memory (which is a form of lying to one's own self).

your experience is based on shit posted here - snippets carefully collected - not on an ongoing watch/learn

Those "snippets carefully collected" show conservative guests on Rachel's & Jon's shows. They also show O'Reilly being abusive to guests.

Now, either those are real, in which case they show the truth about the shows, or they are manufactured, in which case they would have been challenged.

so i don't know what to say other than you're apparently not capable of forming a fair opinion

Looking at the truth and paying attention doesn't make me capable of forming a fair opinion?

Rubbish.

sorta like the diss on fox news viewers - uninformed

Are you paying attention? People have cited studies that show that Fox viewers are uninformed. That stands to reason, since Fox lies, and went to court to defend their "right" to lie. Voters would be better off not paying attention to any news at all than listening to a network which reserves the "right" to lie.

my only point is that a conservative pt of view is not ruining america and given that all the others lean to varying degrees left ............ what is the issue?

If Fox had a conservative point of view, I'd like it. But they don't -- they have a reactionary point of view. That's why they think it's okay to lie -- reactionaries almost invariably believe that the ends justify the means.

the issue is that fox is successful

that fox dominates the cable news landscape

that fox news has figured out how to get ratings

No, that's what you LIKE the issue to be. The issue is that Fox lies, and they're proud of it, that they have people who are rude to guests, that they have people who are demonstrably ignorant right up front.

bottom line is people have a right to watch/do what they want

and right now and for a long while fox has been that thing for many

Sure they do -- and just as was the case with useless or dangerous "miracle cures" from back before the FDA, they have the right to harm themselves. When they watch a network that's proud of lies, they do so.

and this board hates that - because they hate Fox's POV

That's just your way of avoiding the fact that many people don't like Fox because they lie and are rude to guests. After they went to court to defend their "right" to lie, anyone with good sense would have abandoned them -- it's foolish to pay attention to a source that lies.

It would be nice to have an actual conservative network giving a conservative perspective, just as it would be nice to have a libertarian network to give a libertarian point of view. Fox does neither.

and i don't know the answer on how to make john/mary q public better informed

If we don't find one, we're likely to end up in a plutocratic theocracy.

Chance, good buddy, Rachel Maddow featured conservatives on her show several times, including the infamous segment where she butchered Rand Paul. Surely you remember that segment?

Cowards. Rove is a cowardly slimeball, and now he's teaching others to be cowardly slimeballs.

P.S. I snickered at your usage of "idiot". The word is derived from the Greek word idiote as "one who does not partake in government"

That's stretching things a bit. "Private citizen" is a better rendering, with overtones of self-centeredness. So it extended to people who didn't participate in public affairs -- not just government -- but isn't limited to that; it would also cover someone who did in fact participate in public affairs but who made everything about him.

You're great at diverting from the real issue:

Fox lies. They do it enough that they went to court to get their "right" to lie confirmed.

And O'Reilly is rude to guests. I don't have to watch a week straight, because just about every time I do watch, he's rude. And when he's not being rude, he's being ignorant. Sometimes I go online and pull random episodes, and it's no different -- he's the same arrogant, ignorant loudmouth.

That's why I don't watch any more -- it's not worth my time to wonder which item is going to be a lie, or to watch someone without sufficient honesty and intelligence tell a guest to shut up.

when he does frankly he makes himself look bad

he had on two sorta well to do guys the other night who wanted obama to raise taxes on the rich - he tried to pin them down - they were good on their feet - he was a bit of a boor - helped them make THEIR case

O'Reilly is not what you say - but when you're on every night for umpteen years, clips are everywhere - as pres obama says about raising taxes on the rich ...... it's MATH

"Allowed" them?

I'm not a mod -- don't wanna be a mod, except maybe for the story forum... though I'm not a fan of written porn.

Snippy... heck, you live in New York; that's enough to make anyone snippy. :D

Kuli, he scolds to you that you "allow the clubbers to call women politicians cunts and"........? That's one seriously messed up person.[-X

Makes excuses for the boors at Fox but condemns Olberman, Letterman for the exact same thing. O'Reilly:"he's an older guy who occasionally gets crabby with a guest - big fucking deal". Laughable.

And this 'clubbers' thing and that posting style is really old and monotonous. I try not to read his posts anymore. But it's like passing a car wreck, sometime you have to look.

I allow posters to call other posters "clubbers", too.

Really degenerate, huh?

Posting style...

to each his own, I guess.

Except

some of us prefer traditional English with proper grammar and punctuation.

Just sayin'.

Jest sayin' 2

(PS: Sir, may I have permission to shut down my computer and go to bed, Sir?)

Is you other source of news SNL?

Actually, he's citing politifact.com, a legitimate and respected source. There's a serious problem with your perception of comprehending information and facts, Jack Springer. On one hand, you start a thread that praises a single news source, yet you are hypocritical of multiple sources others bring to the table of discussion.

Fox News has long been criticized for its journalism and sharing information and news. This is not from one source, but from many. In fact, you need only view video clips of Fox News reporting to see with your own eyes a skewed perception of partisan reality. You seem to recognize journalistic bias in MSNBC. So surely you can take the time to accept, as a rational and logical thinking human being, that Fox News is complicit in distorting the news and is in no way fair nor balanced.

Actually I suspect that the very purpose of Fox News is to distort the news, under the guise of pretending to be fair and balanced.

What's "laughable" is the idea that grown men - physically if not emotionally- spout their hatred of women and post the most vile things

Then complain about a Fox News host "rudeness" towards guests

And people like Kuli who actually don't do the former but turn a blind eye to it .......

Just as bad

Worse perhaps

Fox News blah blah blah

Perspective and context needs to acquired soon
