Current TV Shows you're watching - 2015

I've actually read a newspaper article about it just yesterday. It also said that 'The Jinx' and 'Serial' were very good. Any opinions on those?

I've never heard of The Jinx, but I started listening to the first season of Serial on my phone on the way to work the other day because someone recommended it. It's very good. The case is really bizarre.

Thanks for the input. I may just have to give it a try. I'm certainly going to be watching 'Making a Murderer' though; I continue to hear good things about it.

[...]Currently the only shows that I watch are American Horror Story (my least favorite season thus far)[...]

I have to agree. I've just started 'Hotel' (only saw the first episode) and while I think it has its very own appeal (visually it's a proper feast; Lady GaGa portrays her character convincingly) it doesn't quite feel like 'AHR' as the other series have. The entire episode kind of felt like one long, weird music video. The "suspense factor" wasn't very high, instead this seems to have been substituted for the "blunt, bizarre and blood gushing horror". I hope it will get better. But if I get to watch Wes Bentley a lot, you won't hear me complain.

I thought I was the only one who felt like this was some kind of Glam Rock type music, even the style of most of these characters look like they're from a 80s music. Sadly though the whole season has felt like it is all over the place, the only thing I like is how this season has connected to the other seasons. Plus I do like the James March and Iris characters.

I haven't watched enough of it to make a statement like this, although from what I've seen I find Iris quite intriguing as well. Kathy Bates really gets to play a new character in each series and she excels at it. It's a bit of a pity though that they've decided to have Bassett portray another feisty, black "mhm-hmmm" diva - yet again. I'd very much like to see her play a completely different character for a change. I do like the Baroness - I've always been interested in Elizabeth Bathory and it's very compelling to see such a modern rendition of the Blood Countess.

But overall the atmosphere doesn't quite seem right for 'AHS'. Perhaps it's the extensive use of music in this series. Up until now, 'AHS' has only used music minimally, leaving most scenes without any music at all, which can be very effective - especially in the horror genre. The incessant use of modern alternative rock as background music makes the episodes feel more like a teen drama.

I watch AHS: Hotel. They aired episode 6 "Room 33" yesterday. Don't find it brilliant, but it has some interesting ideas in it.

Well, 'Hotel' has come to a close. After "binge watching 2.0" I have seen the entire series and have to say that while it was certainly not dull, it was the most disappointing instalment of 'AHS' so far. I simply wasn't fond of the blunt gore that made up its horror factor, the story was pretty much non-existent and there were just too many loose ends. The finale was basically just a quick attempt to tie everything together and create a happy end. 'Hotel' was just a bit too chaotic for me; it seemed like the writers had just chosen a setting and then decided to haphazardly throw in some generic monsters that could run amok in it.
Also it had become apparent very quickly that every character (whether main, recurring or guest) was going to die the minute they checked in which completely killed the suspense factor. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the "nobody is safe"-approach. I'm quite fond of 'Game of Thrones'. But that one excels at the execution of this idea; the viewer knows that everybody can die at any moment but it's still always a surprise who dies and who manages to survive. This makes 'GoT' very thrilling to watch, especially since it allows to "bond" with certain characters and be genuinely saddened if they don't make it.
Anyhow, I don't consider 'Hotel' to have been a waste of my time.

Back to topic. I have once again tried 'Breaking Bad' and 'The Walking Dead' and they still haven't managed to draw me in, so I suppose it's time to bid them farewell for good. I'm now considering to start watching 'Suits'. People all over the word wide web suggest that show to 'House of Cards' fans.

Younger on TVLand just started back up last week. anyone watching this show? If not you should be. It is written and created by Darren Star from "Sex and the City."
American Crime Story is good this season. This season it is about a high school boy from the swim team who gets drugged and raped. He attends a private school. Felicity Huffman is in Season 2 again! She plays the principal of the private school.

Chicago Fire. Is always good. Taylor Kinney, fiancé of Lady GaGa is on the show and he is hot! There are other hottie firefighters on the show as well. Jesse Spencer is also hot.

Tonight starts the new season of VH1's "Hit the Floor." There are some gay male characters on this show.

PBS "Finding your Roots" started up again.

The Goldbergs. This show is one of the few sitcoms I find funny.

Law and Order:SVU the stories on this show are always great and interesting. A lot taken from the news headlines.

Bravo's "Newlyweds:the First Year" there is a gay male couple on this season again! The different couples are all interesting this season.

FXX's "It's always Sunny in Philadelphia" started up again. This show is funny.

"Beyond the Tank" and "Shark Tank" are both interesting shows. Some of the inventions are interesting others not so much.

"Top Chef" is back on again. This season it is in California. They are traveling each week to a different city within the State of CA.

"Recipe for Deception" a new show starts this Thursday. It looks interesting!

"Project Runway:Junior" is great! Better than Project Runway. These teens are very talented"

"Undercover Boss" started up again.

Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO. I am glad he is back. Bill Maher is very funny! I have seen his stand up act too. He is great. I especially like his New Rules.

Mr Robot. it's pretty hard going, especially when the lead is kinda dull.

I'm sad to hear Heroes Reborn ended. The creator did say the story of Heroes isn't over though. I hope he doesn't take another long break.

I try not to watch too much television, but I got sucked into Making a Murderer. Shit's really gripping.

If there's a takeaway, it's that we ought to avoid rushing to judgment. Yet the series tantalizes us constantly into doing so.

Spoilers: Purely as armchair speculation, I think the sheriff's office is corrupt and guilty of more than a few crimes. I'm ambivalent about Avery's guilt. If you look outside the series, there is some troubling evidence against him. And that poor kid Dassey...don't think he was involved at all.

I've abandoned 'Suits'; in my opinion it was unoriginal, cliché-ridden rubbish. No offence to anybody who does like it, but it made me think that assuming American television had become better only because of 'House of Cards' was a bit premature.

I still haven't found the time to start 'Making a Murderer', but I have watched the first two episodes of 'Homeland' rather by coincidence and this proved to be a ray of light in American TV.

Childhood's End - I enjoyed it but I never read the books it was based upon so I don't know how it stacks up to the books. A bit of a downer of an ending though.
The Expanse - Hmm, does drag in some places, reminds me of Babylon 5 in some ways. I'm liking that Scy-fy channel is actually trying to do more sci-fi programming.

X-Files. First ep was pretty disappointing, but afterward its mostly gotten much better.
Walking Dead. Dunno what it is but this season I haven't been as much into it. And that half season premier I thought was pretty bad.
