Dad found history on my laptop :|

>>>he kept asking me if i had anything to talk about and i didn't really, i mean what else is there to say? lol

You could've said "Well, I'm gay if that's what you're asking."

lol

Lex

lol lol ............

He still lives under his dad. Now if ashyclub was in his thirties, it's not ok for his dad to look. But the person who pays the rent rules the house to a certain extent.

I'm 23, live with my parents when I'm not at grad school (~4 days a week) and my parents would never, EVER look at my history, or anything else on my laptop. They understand that its my personal 'space' and that its not theirs to invade. (they treat my cellphone the same way)

If they owned the computer, well, MAYBE they would check, but that's a whole different story.

no not fair enough that is why we refer to them as personal computers i would be pissed left on or not if someone took the liberty of getting on my computer for any reason. but it would probably be best for all involved if you tell your parents that you are gay.

i think its fair. It is his "father" and not some stranger or friend. A father needs to know almost everything.

God forbid you should ever have children. The man is 21. The father's right to snoop and invade his personal space ended when he turned 18.

Thats scary. it happened to me one time but I was young enough for them to use the 'he's just curious" excuse. rest assured I have not made that mistake again. I'm super careful about removing any hint of gay from my history. I want my parents to find out I'm gay when I sit down and tell them myself, not when they finds two dudes :sex: on my computer.

Not meaning to downplay your situation, but i wish I had your parents. My entire family minus myself iare bible thumping maniacs. In fact at dinner tonight the discussion was how Mass. is the devil's state because it filed the lawsuit against the DOMA. Nevertheless, seems like it didn't go to bad for you, i'm going to assume things should get easier. Much luck.

You're lucky to have a dad that didn't go ballistic or eject you out of the house.

And I'm lucky that my parents don't have a friggin' clue how to use a computer. :)

Once the dust settles, sit down and have a chat with him and your mother. Your Dad's reaction is already even-tempered and understanding, so it sounds like you have parents who will be open-minded and supportive.

Well.

At least now you're out to them and can get on with your life.

Well, you're old enough to come out to him yourself, but at least it's a burden off your shoulders. I say, as long as you're the one paying for your own porn and you're not secretly using his money or something lol, then he really has no right to snoop. But as you said, your computer was on, so he stumbled upon the porn lol.

And plus you're still living with them. I don't know... but at least you don't have to hide it so much from them now. Less of a burden i guess. And it's good to know how open he is about your sexuality :)

to be fair he could have found it by just typing 'google' into the bar, which he did say he was looking for my blog on google, as soon as he types "www.g" it's going to come up with the name of the site i was on as firefox web browser does that so you can just click the site instead of type it if you've already been on it , and he's gonna sit there and think "wtf?" and check my internet history naturally.

but yeah, no one's said anything since, they're exactly the same, which is strange. they haven't said or hinted a thing! good i guess, i feel weird though.

Not that it matters now but one of the nice features of Firefox is under Tools/Options/Privacy, there's a check box "Always clear my private data when I close Firefox" that has a Settings button associated with it. That should get rid of that www.gerbilsex.com auto-complete. :p

And Firefox 3.5 has a new 'private browsing' feature that will not save any history, cookies, etc. if you turn it on. Safari and IE8 have this feature as well. Use it, it will be your friend.

Please NEVER have children! I'm horrified at that thought if this is your way of thinking!! ](*,)

Don't worry pal, the same thing happens to so many of us especially with this younger generation of internet and porn in the home.

It happened to me when I was 14, ha ha.

Look at it like this, you've gotten it out of the way and you can move on.

There are gay men in their 40s who still haven't come out to their parents.

Thats the whole reason why when i logg off the internet all my history is deleted. Plus nobody touches my pc......

There is a bit of difference though---I don't know how your relationship works with your parents but it might be a good idea to sit down and have a talk.

I agree. I think this is gonna be an elephant in the room type of situation...everyone knows but no one talks about it.
