In two weeks on October 29, 2006 the daylight saving time will end and standard time returns. It seems I just get used to one and then everything changes again. Of course this is when we "fall back", so getting up for work won't be as hard.

Which do you prefer? Daylight Saving Time or Standard Time?

Standard Time

but Daylight Time is being extended in the US... our Congress even legislates time now

I don't mind either, as long as I know what time to turn on the TV for Stargate. Gots ta have me my daily dose of Daniel Jackson!

I would prefer DST year around. But I don't mind too much the way they do it now. Just takes some getting used to where I live.
In Nov. and Dec. it is so dark at 5:00 PM with ST. Takes some getting used too. Since I don't get up too early in the morning I would rather have my light in the evening.

I think Daylight Savings Time ends in November now, part of Bush's Energy Plan.
I'm not joking.

Not quite yet. Next year or the year after. This year DST ends October 29. We tried year long DST in the 70's due to the Carter energy plan. Parents were up in arms and everyone hated it because in the winter it was dark until after 8:00am and kids had to go to school in the dark. The new plan has it ending the first weekend in November so that kids can trick and treat in some daylight. Stupid! Personally I wish it ended the first weekend in October. It's dark until 7:00 as it is now and I hate getting up in the dark. Besides I just turn on all the lights in the morning so where is the saving? I love it in the summer, I'm over DST by October. It starts too early too.

I'm not really a fan of changing my clocks twice a year, we should get rid of the clock-switching imho.

I HATE!!! HATE!!! HATE!!! the entire concept!!!

We don't "Gain" any sleep.
We don't "Save" any daylight.

How many "Asleep at the Wheel" auto accidents are caused by this annual disruption of our internal clocks???

TIME WARP SUCKS!!!
:grrr: :grrr: :grrr:

T-Rexx, DST as we now have it was implemented after the Yom Kippur War of 1973 when the USA flew plane loads of tanks and ammo to the Israelis. For a while it looked like Egypt and Syria would overrun Israel. The Saudis and Iraqis and other Arab oil suppliers got OPEC to create an embargo on oil to the USA and jacked the price up. Nixon decided to go to DST to save energy. When the winter of 1974 rolled around, parents across the country complained becasue their kids were standing outside in the dark waiting for the school bus in the mornings. That is when and why Congress removed year-round DST.

I hate DST. Give me Standard time year round. The idea of extending DST irks me!!

I like DST during the summer when the sun rises early in the morning, but after September I hate it. I naturally awake with the sun and get sleepy when the sun goes down, and it messes me up to be gettin' up when it's still dark out! :grrr:

Quit clouding the issue with the facts, Made up ! ;)

Bottom line, it sucks going to work in the dark, and coming home in the
dark....

Not much we can do about it, though....

Waiting for Spring.

Josh

Theri is something we can do about it. WE THE POPLE can change the law, just that it is a lot of work.

move it forward 1 time by 2 hrs.

SET IT and FORGET IT.

i love the sun and detest artificial light.

don't mind starting my day in the dark, hell, my environment would match my mindset...i start everyday inthe dark anyway.

seems like i suffer from seasonal depression i.e. I HATE winter.
