Hold up American politics are not Canadian politics, it's like me blaming the Bush presidency on Justin Trudeau doesn't really work. I am curious though as to just how much influence a foreign enemy power can have out the middle of nowhere Quebec.
Most Americans have no idea of just how much influence their leaders can have on others. The very notion of referring to Quebec City as the middle of 'nowhere Quebec' indicates the type of insularity and lack of geography that has come to represent the caricature of self-absorbed and insular Americans.
This does not even account for the influence of media and social media in linking people together. Social media, for instance has created a platform for the disaffected racists to share their grievances born of mental instability and nursed by powerful demagogues.
Bissonette appears to have become increasingly radicalized by Le Pen and Trump, because they fed his anxiety about the 'other'. Their influence is no different than the influence of the radical Islamists on the other side of the world inspiring the disillusioned, disenfranchised mentally unstable young muslim men to pick up weapons and go out and make a statement.
