Dear Freezing cold weather of Florida, ....

Try minus 20 C.

With a wind chill.

D: Its 29 in Tampa. I just stay curled up in my bed. I need to go out though and get some sun I feel like a vampire.

Yeah yeah and we Floridians can call the people in Boston, Minneapolis, or Chicago pussy's when they have a 3 or 6 day heat wave of 90 degrees in the summer. You always see a bunch of older people piled up dead after a extended heat wave of a week in Chicago of 95 F yet you never see that in Miami with its big time population of elderly where the dew point is 77 and the nightly low is 82 and everyday 94 for months.
But it would be naive to not understand the difference between a heat wave in Madison WI and Ft. Myers Fl.

Lets take Kevbo land is Wausua Wi where it is currently 16 F this Sunday afternoon. Normal high is 21 or so, therefore in Kevbo Wisconsin its only 4 degrees below normal temperature now.
Not including windchill.
Now what if Kevbo land was 35 degrees below normal currently as it is in Tampa??? Then instead of 16 F it would be -15 F plus the windchill making it colder. Now that would be incredible cold.
It has been 25 - 40 degrees below average for the Florida Pennisula everyday of the new year, thats 10 days now.

A Saint Petersburg mail man rides his route on a pedal bike, and the downtown main post office is open air, natural gas isn't that common and electric heat, well you won't find that much in the north because it cost $$$$$ to use.
The Manatee can't take water temps below 70 F and the Gulf of Mexico currently is near 48 F off Sarasota, colder north. Fish and shrimp native to the waters are dying.

In a place where houses are not insulated worth a damn in the first place, and old, where many don't have any sort of heat.
It would be like taking the current temps in Florida and if this cold was hitting northern South America, it would be big time disaster for people not equipped for that type of living.
Not just people but even the native wildlife , flora & fauna.
Take a severe cold snap from any area and reduce your normal daytime high by 35 degrees, not 10 or 15 and do it for a solid 2 weeks and then compare.
Same thing take a place not accustomed to extended heat and see what stress comes about after a solid long block of those conditions.

I'm from the NE states and have spent a lot of time in Kebo land Osk kosh by gosh and it is cold here, like I've never seen for such a long period of time.

3 facts of life

You can pick where you live.

You can't pick the exact climate

and you shouldn't pick your nose.

I'm just happy all the pansies in the American south are getting whooped by the weather they tried to get away from. Didn't go far enough south I guess

Ahh I love me a little Schadenfreude ;)

Please pack your shit and GTFO. I do not like you and stuff. You haz made my feets freeze and my kitten nearly dead. You haz also covered my car in ice.

>___>; stop being 32 degrees RIGHT NOW!

*curls up in his blanket and cries*

 PULEEZE>>>>>>>>

that's a HEATWAVE compared to what it's been like in Michigan....it hasn't been out of the 20's in weeks. so, grab another blanket & bring the kitten in from outside.......

Sorry ......can't feel sorry for y'all

This morning, there was a mysterious red light flashing on my dashboard.

It looked like a cube with a dotted line running through it. I had NO idea what it meant, so finally out of frustration and curiosity I looked it up in the car's manual.

It was a warning light that meant, "Icy roads have been detected".

Never even knew it was there...

I moved from Michigan to get away from the cold, in the 18 years I've been in Florida this is the longest cold stretch i can remember, usually a day or two maybe 3 but never weeks in a row - bring on the 80 and 90 degree weather, One week until i head to the Caribbean, I hope its warm down there but the ship will be full of hotties either way :D

Seriously... its called winter... most of the rest of the world gets it a lot worse EVERY YEAR for A LOT LONGER.... A couple of days of actual winter isn't going to kill you....

Wrap up in your blankets... and turn on the heat because in 2 months you're going to be crying it is too warm and you're sweating like crazy for the REST OF THE YEAR.

I spent a good number of years in Florida and had to leave because I couldn't deal with NOT having winter... You guys get it after I leave for a few days and the world is going to end...

Sheesh.

For clarity purposes it wasn't directed at you ... it was in general... I personally hate summer ... thankfully, up here it only lasts for about 3 months ... but I have always said "It's easier to warm up than it is to cool down." And honestly... how often does this happen down there? ... Hardly ever... I would be more inclined to ENJOY the change of pace considering it doesn't happen that often.

My link didn't post the first time,
so let me try again...

Yikes!! Looks like Chicago. I think they had a constant NE wind on Friday to bring rare lake efeect snow there. Also that NE wind would have stirred up Lake Michigan and the spray would have done this.

When I originally saw the picture about three years ago,l my first guess was also Chicago, but I've since found out that it was somewhere in Switzerland.

Hunt, as regards the above

If your feelings are hurt, it is not COLD enough yet.

stop being 32 degrees RIGHT NOW!

32?!

Damn, I wish. We've been lucky to crack 15 degrees in the last two weeks. At night, it gets well below zero and the wind chill factor makes it even worse.

Then there's the snow. The impossible to drive on snow. Not only are the roads all iced up and slicker than hot snot, but with the snow it's impossible to get anywhere. Just the other day I was driving my car when I came to a stop sign at the bottom of a hill, and after the mandatory two-second pause, I pressed the gas to get going again but my wheels just spun in place and the car went nowhere. Finally, after about a minute of pressing the gas and getting absolutely nowhere, my car lurched forward and I almost hit a car parked on the side of the road. I was pissed.

Then there's the snow plow. The fucking snow plow. It never fails -- just as I get my car shoveled out, the snow plow comes barreling down the road again to plow it right back in. And the salt on the roads (which hasn't melted shit, by the way) is making my car rust.

Spring can't come fast enough...

Oh, and this thread reminds me of an e-mail I got a while back...

Dear Diary: Indiana Winters

Aug. 12 - Moved into our new home in Indiana. It is so beautiful
here. The hills and river valleys are so picturesque. I have a
beautiful old oak tree in my front yard. Can hardly wait to see
the change in the seasons. This is truly God's Country.

Oct. 14 - Indiana is such a gorgeous place to live, one of the
most special places on Earth. The leaves are turning a multitude
of different colors. I love all of the shades of reds, oranges and
yellows, they are so bright. I want to walk through all the
parks and spot some white tail deer. They are so graceful, certainly
they're the most peaceful creatures on Earth. This must be paradise.

Nov. 11 - Deer season opens this week. I can't imagine why anyone
would want to shoot these elegant animals. They are the very
symbol of peace and tranquility here in Indiana. I hope it snows
soon. I love it here!

Dec. 2 - It snowed last night. I woke to the usual wonderful
sight: everything covered in a beautiful blanket of white. The oak
tree is magnificent. It looks like a postcard. We went out and
swept the snow from the steps and driveway. The air is so crisp,
clean and refreshing. We had a snowball fight. I won, and the
snowplow came down the street. He must have gotten too close to
the driveway because we had to go out and shovel the end of the
driveway again. What a beautiful place. Nature in harmony. I
love it here!

Dec. 12 - More snow last night. I love it! Snowplow Harry did his cute
little trick again. What a rascal. A winter wonderland. I love
it here!

Dec. 19 - More snow - couldn't get out of the driveway to get to
work in time. I'm exhausted from all of the shoveling. And that
snowplow!

Dec. 21 - More white shit fell last night. I've got blisters on my hands
and a kink in my back from all the shoveling. I think snowplow Harry
waits around the corner until I'm done shoveling so he can plow
me right back in. Asshole!

Dec. 25 - White Christmas my busted ass! More fucking snow. If I ever
get my hands on the son of a bitch who drives that snowplow, I swear
I'll castrate him. And why don't they use more salt on these roads to
melt this shit??

Dec. 28 - It hasn't stopped snowing since Christmas. I've been
inside since then, except of course when snowplow Harry
comes by. Can't go anywhere, cars are buried up to the windows.
Weather man says to expect another 10 inches. Do you have any idea
how many shovelfuls 10 inches is??

Jan. 1 - Happy New Year?! The way it's coming down it won't melt
'til the 4th of July! This is a deep freeze. The snowplow got stuck down
the road today and the shithead actually had the balls to come and ask to
borrow a shovel! I told him I'd already broken 6 this season and I was
gonna break the 7th one over his head if he didn't get out of my face.

Jan. 4 - Finally got out of the house. We went to the store to get
some food and a damn deer ran out in front of my car and I hit
the SOB. It did $3,000 in damage to the car. Those beasts
ought to be killed. The hunters should have a longer season if you
ask me.

Jan. 17 - It warmed up a little today and finally rained. The rain turned
the snow into ice and the weight of it brought down a huge limb of the
oak tree in the front yard. Have to pay $300 to get the it hauled
away. I should've cut that damn thing down and used it for
fire wood when I had the chance!

April 23 - Took my car to the local garage. Would you believe the
whole underside of the car is rusted away from all of that damn
salt they dump on the road? The whole thing looks like shit!

May 10 - Sold the car, the house, and moved to Georgia. I can't
imagine why anyone in their right mind would ever want to live in that
God-forsaken state of Indiana.

Damn that kinda weather must suck.

Down here it was boiling hot @ 43 degrees (109 F) today.
