Dear Transpogue,

Can you build up an immunity to shampoo? I've been using a particular kind for a couple of years, and in the last few weeks it hasn't been working as well.

I used to be able to get up in the AM and just finger comb my hair and at least be presentable; of late I get up and it is unbelievably icky and requires washing before it doesn't look like bed head.

My suggestion is to switch to another brand for at least a month. If you want to try your old cleanser again, give it a least 2 weeks to see if it's doing it for you. :)

It could also be that your texture is changing a bit and therefore laying differently. We all go through texture shifts as we go along...not my first guess, but it's possible. Try switching cleansers first. ;)

That is kind of what I thought. I recently bought a new bottle and it is far more perfumey than what I'm used to, so I think the formula has changed.

Any suggestions on what I might get? My hair is very, very fine and also very oily. And due to my advanced age it is getting thinner and graying. I go to Wally World and there are so many choices...

I was talking with a friend of mine who is a 'famous' hair person in Denver (must be good, he charges $100 for a basic haircut) thinks I would look good with a 'short and tight' cut but then he looked at my head and told me what I am currently sporting is about the best I can do because my hair is too fine.
