Debt Ceiling Talks Collapse - Boehner Walks Out

I listened to two different Republicans on TV this morning, and they were both doing the same theme of lies: "Obama hasn't proposed anything." "The Democrats have no ideas." "The Senate hasn't made any proposals."

Geithner told CNN's "State of the Union" that the so-called "grand bargain" sought by Obama remains in play, but he also opened the door to a two-step process pushed by Republicans that would raise the debt ceiling with some spending cuts now, then bring broader structural and tax reforms next year.

"There's nothing wrong with doing this in stages," Geithner said, but he reiterated that a deal must remove the "threat of default" from the country by settling the debt ceiling issue through 2012 because "you don't want politics messing around with America's faith and credit."

So his last offer of "His way or the highway", for all other branches of the gov't and 300 million americans still stands.

How nice of him.

If I hear one more GOP lie and statement of political posturing my head will explode.

DQ if they find a way to keep the default from occurring then they will do it.

They will sign a deal but again it will be only a portion of what we need and it wont last long or simply be a short term agreement meaning uncertainty will remain and the economy will sputter for longer.

IF they raise the debt ceiling without a revenue increase it will only balloon the deficit further.

They have GOT to get revenue in this or they actually may as well just let the fucking thing expire, because frankly, it will just happen again and again and again.

these cuts are going to be the ruin of this nation if they are not accompanied by revenue increases.

America has lost its competitive edge, and hacking us up and throwing it in the trash is not a fix. It is an admission that america is over. it is destroying the promise of equality and blind justice.

The whole world is watching and for all the countries that are having to face the pain of raising enough revenue to pay the bills, allowing the rich to take it all and the country to default is not playing well.

How unbelievably arrogant and stupid the Republicans and T-Baggers are to think that it is okay to break the world economy again, just because their only agenda is to make Obama a one term president.

The buzz is that Obama will finally have to raise the debt ceiling unilaterally in order to defend the 'full faith and credit' clause. But if the Republicans think that this gives them back the White House in 2012, they may be in for a huge surprise.
