We recognize the existence of the Creator and acknowledge that our rights come from him as you've cited from the Declaration of Independance. The democrats stepped on their dicks when they removed the reference. They realize that many in their base, are regular church going, God fearing types. Political reality forced them to put it back.

Oh please, who is "we." SOME of you are religious, a fuck load more SAY they believe in God but that's as far as their religion goes, the rest are agnostic/atheist/uncaring.

Since the only people who seem to be bitching and moaning about it are the apologists from the right - conclusions are pretty easy to draw. They put it back in because the religious by and large act like petulant children about god, demanding all kinds of special treatment.

AND none of that is a reason why your religion has a place in my public institutions!

Just because "it's always been there" (strange it wasn't there in the beginning - they used "creator," SPECIFICALLY to avoid saying God) is no reason to just keep on mouthing the words.

God is between you and your conscience, it has no place in public governance for a bunch of painfully obvious reasons right across the aisle with the religious loons and their Sharia law.

Odd that he would mention god at a democrat convention. Did anyone catch the delegates 3 times shout down an amendment to the platform that would re-insert the words "god-given" and recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The best moment was the frozen deer in the headlight stare from the mayor of LA as he realized that the motion to amend failed to even garner a majority of the delegates never mind the 2/3rds needed. He then compounded the fuckup by calling for two more votes with the same result. So, in typical Obama style, he ruled that the amendment passed, causing anger,frustration and outrage from the majority atheists and anti-semites in the room and laughter from those of us who have a bit of parliamentary experience. You won't find approval of his tactics in Roberts Rules of Order, Masons Rules of Order, or the rules of the House of Representatives. I didn't hear him say "the chair is in doubt, will the body divide on the question", I didn't hear him call for a roll call as he should have after the second fuck up. What I heard was the panicked tone of someone who knew they fucked up and tried to make it go away. God (oops) you couldn't pay someone to do that!
