He's finally hanging up his sheet, eh? I imagine the clan has their own nursing homes, right?

I'm not going to rise to the bait, but I'd like to nudge this conversation in a different direction. Since we restrict the presidency to two full terms (or 10 years [or however it goes]), perhaps there should be some sort of mandatory retirement age for members of Congress. I mean, seriously, can an 80- or 90-year-old really be in touch with the concerns of the general populace?

Springs, I'll let 84 year old Senator Ted (convict) Stevens answer your question:

At least Robert Byrd evolved. Our pole-smoking pugtards in pink leotards haven't, have they?

that photo is SOO TRUE!

Let's give it up for some Billie Holiday, and the last Democratic member of the KKK.

:=D:

Now we only have to look to the current GOP for any of the *cough* closeted members of the KKK, but as I understand them the closet is safer than out in the open, what with all of "the gay and secularist fascism in this country" that's going on and needs to be dealt with.

But at least there's a "party" within our country that's willing to carry the torch. (Pun intended!) ;)

Interresting approach to a topic I did a thread on some time back.

It was looking like an interesting thread, too, until someone started doing juvenile graffiti-style posts.

confederate flag banned

That should not, and WILL NOT ever happen. :)
Anyone offended by the Confederate flag needs a history lesson. But, I suspect you'll never read, because you're too far up the race card's ass to flow oxygen to your brain.

Nobody thinks what you think unless they live down south and its been burned into their mind.. They used to live down south.. they know someone close who lives down south... or they grew up in the North and their parents/guardians kept it around the house and were misinformed.

If it was really a heritage flag... wouldn't it be displayed ALOT more? Wouldn't they have it displayed in schools on the "Heritage Days"? Yea walk in there with your flag and watch the gays jews mexicans and blacks give you a glare.

I've said this before. Yea the swastika was once a good symbol before the nazis came and ruined it. But for those that display it and say otherwise.. they need to get over the fact of what the world sees it as. See the movie Crash it shows how racism and prejudice really exists strongly today in the back of people's minds more then people would like to think. When people hold that confederate symbol maybe a portion picked it as a heritage pride symbol... but they need to look back at who their ancestors were that passed it down to their parents and what THEY truly felt in the back of THEIR minds about minority groups.

When McCain said the confederate flag should be banned and is racist.. i actually was like you go boy! Educate the rednecks voting for you!

Considering that 67 of them would have to vote for a constitutional amendment for this to happen, it would seem unlikely.

Not to mention 2/3 of the House, who all have their dreams of "Movin' On Up", as well.

Well he once was a KKK member and its scary having someone like that with scary ideas.

IIRC, that's been attempted, and the courts said that restricting eligibility amounted to a curb on free speech... of the voters.

A law ending pay for any who have reached retirement age might be interesting, though.
