Desperate Housewives starts Sept 30th!

At the beginning, there was also a blonde woman I didn't recognize...I think it was right after the guy walking his dog, during the narrative of smiles (then again, I don't follow the show as much as most people here). I think they are just neighbors that aren't featured. Does the show cover everyone on Wisteria Lane? Most shows only cover a select handful of people in a neighborhood.

There is a house on Wisteria lane that seems to always have someone different living in it. Its the small yellow house in between Edie's and Mrs. McCluskeys. Last night an overweight woman (who looked like she was wearing a fat suit) was living there. A while back I think there was a blonde woman living there. And I'm sure we've seen other random people living there as well.

There is also the house on the corner that Mrs. Huber lived in during season 1. Its been vacant since the end of Season 2 when Felicia 'disapeared' but in the S4 premiere there was a wife in front kissing her husband goodbye as he left for work.
Who are these people? When did they move in? We don't know because they don't interact with any of the rest of the cast.

These people have not been identified and them and their houses are only usually featured as examples of either happy couples, busy people, angry people etc during Mary Alice's opening and closing narrarations.
I kind of wish ALL the residents, or at least the wives, on the street were featured as regular cast members, because its weird that they never interact with the five main housewives.

We always see people walking dogs, jogging, walking etc but they are always just background. Another thing that bothers me is when random cars drive by. Wisteria Lane is a cul-de-sac, not a thru-street, so there shouldn't be anyone just driving by. Idk, I'm a stickler for continuity.

:-)

I just watched it. That was a very good episode. Best one in a while, both very funny and entertaining. I love Katherine and Bree's rivalry, it's so funny together how they still act fake to eachother even though they both know the other knows they hate her.

I can't believe Carlos hired a hitman to kill Edie. They took the likabilty out of a very likable character who was there the whole series. Although Edie did try to kill someone before, it still makes him unlikable that he would kill someone too. This storyline is entertaining though.

Why does Bree have the key to everyones house? Does it have something to do with Orsons job?

I don't think that Carlos is hiring a hitman. Thats what the writers want us to think, and this show has a history of going against viewers expectations.

Bree has everyone's keys because everyone trusts her. I know its kind of a stretch, but people want Bree to have an extra key in case of an emergency or something. In Season 2 Bree used a key to get into Betty's house that the previous owners entrusted her with. Same thing last night. Mike gave her a key, but Katherine was unaware of this when she moved in.
I don't know why people don't change their locks more often. :-)

It's good that they have neighbors we don't know nothing about to use as examples when they need it. If they introduced all of them as regular cast members then that'd be too much. Too much storylines to cover and it takes away time from the other characters and their time in the 1 hour will be cut even shorter.

Totally agree, but since its such a big deal for the women when new people move onto the street, I just wish we knew who these people were. :-)

Well it's also to watch their houses while they're gone I think--water their plants, feed their dogs, etc.

Watching Bree and Katherine go after each other is going to be the biggest hoot this season.

I also thought the dog walker seemed gay.

By the way, with all the talk about the houses, I read somewhere that this set was used in the old Leave It To Beaver show. One of the women lives in a revamped version of the Cleaver's old house.

Okay, the latest episode had one scene that bothered me sooo much, it's when Katherine drove away in her red car and waved to Bree, who was watering the plants. Before that scene, it shows that Dylan would be asking Katherine about her father in the car, but when I watch the next scene, there was no one else in the car with Katherine....

Alright...where is Gaby's husband? It seems like she is spending all of her time at her house. The writers haven't really addressed that whole issue in a couple episodes.

Whoever you saw that you thought "looked pretty gay" wasn't part of the new gay neighbors.

Yeah, though trust me, you're not the only one who noticed him, and I totally agree with you.

If you ask me, Carlos has always been a tenuous character, at best. He's done things that have bordered on him going way too far. His shady dealings aside (which could easily have been overlooked as an effort to provide for Gaby's desire for a lavish lifestyle), there was that incident where he physically forced Gaby to sign papers that she refused to sign. I honestly don't understand why she had anything to do with him after that. Between him and Victor, she sure knows how to pick them. Then there was the incident where Carlos went after not one, but two gay men, and beat them up. When the police questioned him as a suspect in a hate crime, he revealed that he suspected the guys (neither of which he knew were gay, at first) of having an affair with his wife, and all of a sudden the policemen turned the heat off of Carlos, and put it on someone who was physically and violently assaulted (as though it all of a sudden, what Carlos did was OK by some twisted rationale).

On top of that, I've never though Carlos was all that hot. When he takes off his shirt, I'm thinking "Please, put it back on". He has a decent-sized chest, but he could use both some time toning all that up and also in a good tanning booth. I don't really understand why Edie feels the need to go to such lengths to keep him. Even she could do better if she could just do something about her low self-esteem.

I honestly wouldn't mind if they get rid of his character, and hopefully get another hot Latino character to replace him all together. The fact that they killed Rex off shows that they're definitely willing to ditch at least some of the men on the show, if not the five main Housewives.

At least after this, and hopefully with some diversity in the portrayal of the new gay couple that moves onto the show, this season will help defuse the arguments made by some (especially on this board) that Desperate Housewives makes gay people look bad by its portrayal of its gay characters. I obviously don't support Marc Cherry's choice to be a Republican, but that doesn't by itself reflect on whether or not he's 100% "self-loathing" and the gay characters on his show are part of some self-hating conspiracy to single out gay characters and make them look and worse than any of the other non-gay characters on the show. The show certainly doesn't worry about whether or not they're going to offend anyone that might potentially bothered by the stereotype of the violent, hyperjealous Latino man, involved in criminal activity. Carlos now certainly surpasses anything that Andrew has done.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, though I'm sure that (for once out of all the owners of all the houses Bree has keys to), she's gonna get around to that, should her recipe for lemon meringue pie (or anything else related to a bigger secret she's keeping) turn up missing. #-o#-o#-o

Actually, they sorta did. If you'll recall, when Gaby asked when she and Victor could take a vacation, he answered that he might be able to give her a full two weeks in April. As the mayor-elect, he has mayoral duties to tend to -- fundraisers, ceremonies, parties, etc., etc., etc.

Besides you could say that about several of the other husbands, as well, what with all the time the housewives spend hanging out with each other, running whenever anyone has an emergency at the hospital, etc., and none of them hold political office, so.

Maybe they're on their way to the park or on the way back. :D:D:D:D

I don't think Carlos was paying that guy to kill Edie. I believe it will turn out to be something else, but, if that is what he was doing, I suspect he'll wind up saving her.

The whole "lemon pie" thing was just a plot device to put Bree in Katherine's house to hear her conversation with her daughter and husband.

I'm betting Katherine will find out about the fake pregnancy and she and Bree will be in a mexican stand off.

Oh, and Bree did bring the key back and dropped it on the kitchen counter. You could hear it hit the countertop.

Yeah, a HUGE stretch. Maybe her close friends but everyone else!!!!!
Did mike give her Katherine's key in the first episode or before this season? If it was in the first episode then I missed it. I've only watched season 3 and up.

We never actually saw Mike give Bree a key, but the lable above the key in the cabinet said 'Mike Delfino.' So I guess he gave it to her sometime before he got put into his coma.

Thats been bugging me too. She's married to the mayor, but she doesn't live with him. Thats very odd. But hey, they had to keep Gaby on the street somehow.

I noticed that too. Maybe she was in the back seat? They were going to pick up Katherine's husband, so maybe he automatically gets shotgun? :-)

i thought Gaby was spending so much time at her own place because she realizes what a mistake she made marrying the mayor, and is now tryin to avoid him as much as possible

I don't think Andrew and Justin were bad portrayals of gay people. I love that there can be a bad boy non stereotypical gay character.

They also did make Andrews character good from season 3 up.

I agree, and anyone who uses Andrew or a couple other gay characters on a show as proof that Marc Cherry is a "self-loathing" gay man whose portrayals of gay men are doing a great amount of harm to people are focusing too intensely on Andrew's mistakes (he's a teenager, for crying out loud!) and are clearly in a cave during the scenes with so many of the other characters. The pharmacist George killed Bree's late husband, the aforementioned Carlos has been known to be violent, Paul Young murdered one of the neighors. Susan accidentally burned down Edie's house, the same way as Andrew's incident with the car and Gaby's mother-in-law was also an accident. I could go on and on, but honestly people need to get over their problem with the gay characters on this show. There are far worse shows, and far worse gay Republicans, like Chris Crain, for starters.

I might have agreed somewhat about Andrew and that creepy neighbor (who I don't consider "gay", and I don't think as many people think he is as some here fear) 10 years ago, when we had very few ongoing gay characters on TV and every gay character had to be so perfect, perfectly written, etc., but I think we're safely past that.

I remember when Mike Delaney and Kevin Sheffield first debuted on AMC. They were non-stereotypical, etc., etc. After that people would point out after that every time there was an effeminate gay man on the show, but only because Mike and Kevin's characters brought attention to the way every character was portrayed, because otherwise, they would know that effeminate gay characters were nothing new to AMC (showing up in minor roles long before we had the pretty masculine Mike and Dr. Brad, and not overtly effeminate Kevin and station worker Rudy), and in case they hadn't noticed (hello!) there are actually effeminate gay men in real life.

It almost turns into a demand on TV shows that come off as saying that effeminate gay people aren't deserving of representation.

Well, all I can say is lighten up a bit, and those are my two cents.

P.S -- I just checked out your profile, Surge, and I totally agree -- Shawn Ashmore is HOT!! Although I'm not so sure he'd appreciate being the head on those photo manips, although I'm sure he knows it happens... ehehe ;)

It was so great to see Marc Cherry at the Les Girls benefit in Hollywood last night so I could tell him how much I have been enjoying "Desperate Housewives" this season. It is off to a brilliant start - especially the rivalry that has developed between Bree (Marcia Cross) and the new neighbor played so terrifically by Dana Delany. In case you missed it Sunday, they had a showdown over a pie recipe that was perfectly done.

"When we first came up with the idea of the character of Katherine Mayfair played by Dana Delany, we thought it would be really fun to just have an alpha female go toe-to-toe with Bree and we've been having a lot of fun with it," he said. "Next week, Katherine goes up against Eva Longoria. She starts stepping on everybody's toes."

"The season has started off really well for us, I'm very happy with my writing staff. I think after four years I finally learned how to do the job. It's going well."

Of course, I wanted to also talk about the new gay couple of Wisteria Lane, played by Tuc Watkins and Kevin Rahm who make their first appearance a few episodes down the line.

"It's a whole different dynamic we're bringing to Wisteria Lane and we're having a lot of fun with it," Marc said.
"I hope to use them as much as I can. They guys, both of them have other projects and stuff so I sometimes have to work around their schedules but we've been having just a fantastic time and they're both really, really nice guys."

I wanted to know how Marc decided on these two particular actors: "I knew of Tuc because of 'Beggars and Choosers" and I knew of Kevin Rahm because of 'Judging Amy' so that's how I became aware of them. And they both came in and auditioned and they were good, they got the parts. When I first saw them, I was going to go a different way with the casting at one point but they were both so adorable I thought, "All my gay friends are gonna want to see them move onto the street."
