Couldn't agree moreI'm starting to grow weary with this show.
Season 5 was this whole set up for some huge change in Dexter's life, only to set him back to right where he began at the beginning of the season. The last episode, wherein his brother is his new "conscience" was yet another set up for some major change in his life that was completely erased.
Dexter's just losing its luster for me. I had a bad feeling about Dexter getting a new show-runner after the departure of Clyde Phillips after season 4, and it looks like that feeling wasn't unfounded.
I'm still going to stick with the show, but I'm hoping for a more sensible plot direction in the later episodes of this season. This is getting frustrating.
I LOVE this show, it was in my top favorites but this season has been entertaining and disappointing all at the same time.
To me, the show has lost any sort of faint scrap of light-heartedness that it once had. No one is friends anymore, all the characters have burnt bridges with each other, have broken up, or just are busy with their own life. I feel like the producers pretty much 'cut contact' with most of the characters in order to develop Dexter's thought process... BUT I feel like this takes away from the show. I'm effing tired of hearing dexter talk about light and darkness, good vs. evil etc. they are just taking it way too far. Often times I listen to dexters dialogue and I feel like they're trying to be in-depth and intellectual but IMO its just not working. There is never any positive, care-free scenes anymore.
They've just dropped the ball in a lot of aspects.
I also don't like that they keep abruptly ending the story that they set up for themselves
also...
SEMI SPOILER, POSSIBLY? BEWARE:
Does anyone else think that DDK/Professor Gellar is a figment of the other guys imagination? No one has acknowledged him except for his accomplice. I think the guy is just skitso and is imagining professor gellar, kind of like how Dexter see's his dad. IF you haven't noticed, this is the first season where Dexter's dad doesn't appear in 'smoke screen' but instead as a real person, i feel they did this to better conceal Gellar,,,, anyone else?
