Dexter [MERGED]

I'm starting to grow weary with this show.

Season 5 was this whole set up for some huge change in Dexter's life, only to set him back to right where he began at the beginning of the season. The last episode, wherein his brother is his new "conscience" was yet another set up for some major change in his life that was completely erased.

Dexter's just losing its luster for me. I had a bad feeling about Dexter getting a new show-runner after the departure of Clyde Phillips after season 4, and it looks like that feeling wasn't unfounded.

I'm still going to stick with the show, but I'm hoping for a more sensible plot direction in the later episodes of this season. This is getting frustrating.
Couldn't agree more ..|
I LOVE this show, it was in my top favorites but this season has been entertaining and disappointing all at the same time.
To me, the show has lost any sort of faint scrap of light-heartedness that it once had. No one is friends anymore, all the characters have burnt bridges with each other, have broken up, or just are busy with their own life. I feel like the producers pretty much 'cut contact' with most of the characters in order to develop Dexter's thought process... BUT I feel like this takes away from the show. I'm effing tired of hearing dexter talk about light and darkness, good vs. evil etc. they are just taking it way too far. Often times I listen to dexters dialogue and I feel like they're trying to be in-depth and intellectual but IMO its just not working. There is never any positive, care-free scenes anymore.
They've just dropped the ball in a lot of aspects.
I also don't like that they keep abruptly ending the story that they set up for themselves
also...

SEMI SPOILER, POSSIBLY? BEWARE:
Does anyone else think that DDK/Professor Gellar is a figment of the other guys imagination? No one has acknowledged him except for his accomplice. I think the guy is just skitso and is imagining professor gellar, kind of like how Dexter see's his dad. IF you haven't noticed, this is the first season where Dexter's dad doesn't appear in 'smoke screen' but instead as a real person, i feel they did this to better conceal Gellar,,,, anyone else?

Wow...I have been thinking that for the past two episodes that Gellar was just a figament of his imagination. It just random how he would show up in random places, had no interactions with other people. I thought for a while last episode that maybe Gellar was real because the other guy was chained to the floor.

Despite this earlier speculation, I really thought Gellar was real. Travis is way more messed up than I could have imagined.. Dexter's gonna be beating himself up about this. =P

I was blown away to learn last night that Gellar was a figment of Travis' imagination.

SPOILER

That really surprised me to see Geller wasn't real.

It also surprised me to find out that Colin Hanks, the actor who plays Travis Marshall is Tom Hanks real-life son. I never made the connection. Did a google image search and when Colin was young he looked exactly like his Dad when he was young.

Here they are later in life:

Hmmm. Towards the end of the season, I usually feel more tense and looking forward to the next episode. Last night was kind of what the fuck? Deb's sudden attraction to Dexter? Get the fuck out of here with that. And I don't know where this intern is going with the Ice Truck Killer hand being sent to Dexter...I just hope that it isn't a cliffhanger for next season, and Dexter spends the whole season chasing this guy.

Tonight's cliffhanger meant nothing. It will be resolved within the first five minutes of Season 7. Once Dexter finishes soiling himself, he'll be like, "Deb, I didn't want you to see this. Travis kidnapped Harrison and tried to murder him. I had no choice but to kill him to protect my son."

Deb will be freaked out, but deep down she'll realize Travis had it coming (just like Jordan Chase did when she let his killers go last season) and she'll help Dexter cover up the crime. She won't have any clue that this is something Dexter does regularly ("vigilante justice") and that he gets off on it. His dark passenger will remain a secret until the NEXT season finale when Deb finally learns the whole truth. Until then, the show is going to continue spinning its wheels.

Meanwhile, Deb admitting that she's in love with Dexter made me want to vomit all over the TV. I don't care that they aren't blood related. The fact that they consider each other brother and sister is enough to make it disgusting and incestuous. I can't believe the writers are serious with this shit.

Also, can I just say how stupid it was for the officers to wait for Dexter to arrive before entering the house, giving him a chance to alter the painting? They've never waited on him to survey a crime scene before, so why did they do it now? So contrived.

Yeah that was really stupid. One of the dumber plot holes this season.

Wow...usually I love the season finale, but this one had my eyes rolling. The first was the scene where the cops waited for Dexter...whatever! They have never waited for Dexter.

The second is Deb in love with Dexter. Such bullshit.

And I am pissed with the cliffhanger...Dexter usually wraps things up and we are left with a new storyline the next season.

I totally freaked with last night's cliffhanger!. WOW!

You know what? This show completely lost my interest. The main reason that I keep this thread available to myself is so that, should Michael C. Hall ever do a nude scene, then I can find the pictures. :)

I thought about him saying he was upset because he was trying to kill Harrison BUT how would he explain the elaborate layout if the killing room? If he was upset over Harrison he would have killed him on the spot. I think they are trying to send Deb over the edge so they can demote here back to regular cop. Granted if they sent her away for a season I wouldn't miss her.

Dexter Season 7 premiers tonight! I'm looking forward to see what happens. Last season was a cliffhanger so tonight we should find out what happens with Dexter and Debra.

Turn your television sets on to Showtime.

Wow I just finished watching the new premier episode and it was crazy! Deb is reacting pretty much the way I thought she would, in shock and can't figure out what to do. I remember on a past episode Dexter was playing in his mind how she might react to finding out about him and he imagined her pulling out her gun and saying "On the ground, down on the ground motherfucker!" It was hilarious and I wished she had reacted like that for real this time lol.

Well finally watched the first two episode, pretty good so far. I just hope that they don't spend all season on Dexter fighting his dark passenger again. It has been done before!!! The only thing I call bullshit on is Deb's "Rehab" plan. She wants Dexter to come over to her place so that she can keep an eye on him 24/7, what about his kid? The babysitter is now watching him 24/7?
