Diana, Princess of Wales (1961-1997)

Re: Concert for Diana

I thought Diddy stole the show. The other artists recycled old hits. His material seemed to be catered for the occasion and audience reaction appeared to be very supportive.
I also thought the final sequence of home movies of Dianas' childhood, with Freddie Mercury singing in the background was beautiful and poignant.
Here in the US the show was only an hour long, was it televised longer in Canada & the UK?
actually the show was all day in the US. it was on VH1 all day long

Re: Concert for Diana

^why? any reason why it was bad?

Re: Concert for Diana

I wish I'd known about the VH1 airing. In my area it was the NBC version that was promoted and advertised.
I'm not a Diddy fan, I didn't know he'd performed his schtick before, but in the one hour show which I saw, he did steal the show.

Re: Concert for Diana

It was boring.
All those interludes between bands.. What a way to depress the Audience.

I turned it off, pretty quickly.

Re: Concert for Diana

Re: Concert for Diana

I thought the whole thing was longer than sorrow.

Re: Concert for Diana

i was actually at the concert on Sunday , and it was a wonderful day , everyone had a really awesome time and there was lots of singing and celebration for a women who changed the world forever.

She is very sorely missed and the world will never be able to replace her special presence that even now, 10yrs on is still felt lacking in todays world!

Watching the videos of how she changed so many peoples lives, it makes you realise just how much of a special person we have all lost, and if left me feeling like i can be so much a better person then i am.

She , in her short 36 yrs fitted into it, so much more then some of us will ever do in our whole lives, and what an honour to think that just by being alive for that short time, some many people where touched by here special gift of love and hope.

I hope that i can , one day , maybe inspire , even just one person , in the way she did SO many!

The reason for some empty seats was becoz they where very restricted views and the princes did not feel it was fair to offer those seat for sale as you would not of seen much if anything of the stage and what was going on.

It was an awesome night and one i will always remember.

Well done William and Harry, your mother would be proud!

Re: Concert for Diana

Thought it was a bit dull meself. The gaps between sets were too long and they fucked up the running order so the later acts had to cut their sets, but still left poor Ricky Gervais floundering for 7 interminable minutes while Elton buffed his diamonds.

A few of the performances were pisspoor too, Tom Jones was crap, especially his rendition of the Arctic Monkeys song.

Thought it was hilarious that they let Brian Ferry celebrate Diana with a song about marital fidelity tho.

Re: Concert for Diana

I only saw about an hour and a half of it. I recorded about 5 hours of the concert but have yet to watch the remaining 3.5 hours. From what i saw, I really liked it.

Re: Concert for Diana

I just thought it was so great to see all those Brits enjoying themselves in the face of the threats all around them. Stay brave my British friends, stay brave and safe.(*8*)

Re: Concert for Diana

I almost died laughing when Jason Donovan started singing.....he looked like he was trying to take a dump in the middle of the stage!! :D What a Knob!

Re: 10th Anniversary Of Diana's Death

She was a bit of a media whore and that's exactly why the queen couldn't stand the woman. I still don't get why people like to paint her as the patron saint of all things good and fluffy. She wouldn't do any good or show up to any charity event unless there were a menagerie of press there to catch every sideways glance of empathy on camera. Still at least towards the end she finally got to be with the man she wanted to be with and Charles got to be with the horse he wanted to be with.
