Yes, but I don't think/believe (pick whichever you want) there was any divinity in him.

There's some degree of proof that he existed, and even that he was crucified. However, there's nothing proving he was the son of god. I just reckon he was a man who thought he was the son of god, acting accordingly, and convinced some people.

In order to belive in Jesus Christ's existence, don't you HAVE to also believe in resurrection? I simply don't believe a man can embody the soul of a God and then as if by magic, resurrect from an horrific death such as crucifiction. The evidence to prove that Jesus is the son of God simply isn't there. The fact that they tried to base an entire religion on the fact that his mother was virginal surely says more about keeping society in check when it comes to infidelity than it does about the truth behind it all.

Could not 'prove' that today for sure... It's a faith thing, sorta like 'love,' cannot prove to me you love someone either.

Couple Billion people to date

I believe he existed.
I'm rather agnostic in my belief as to his divinity, though.

He may have been, may not, doesn't really matter as I see it.

His ideas are what count, some of which are good, most of which are disastrous to a western society or, really, any society.

He didn't really convince that many people, SantaC :P.

More, his followers did... I will refrain from discussing how. :D

Well... I think most of those 2 billion would say He did. For they believe in a LIVING God/Jesus/Holy Spirit with whom they are in contact with on a real time basis.

Jesus was put to death for being blasphemous saying he was the son of God. He didn't convine too many people when he was alive that he was Gods's son but it was his followers who kept the faith alive and who spread the word of "GOD", not Jesus himself.

You would have to do a study of the Book of Acts to understand...

Christians believe Jesus IS alive and it was the Comforter(3rd in the Trinity) during pentecost that inspired the followers, later Jesus directly inspired Saul/Paul, to spread the gospel.

"the comforter(3rd in the trinity)" that just sounds like a really bad sci-fi b movie to me. All I know is Jesus probably was alive, no one can prove one way or another so I guess this is where faith comes into the equation. There's been so many writings about him that it's hard to know who actually knew him and only knew of him. Again this is where faith comes into it. I believe he was a staunch political figure of his time and that he was too much for his generation to handle.

:=D:

Yeap, the early church fathers wrangled with that for years and some were put to death over the Trinity.

But you're spot on concerning the faith thing.

To all whom would claim he speaks to them on a real time basis... well my statement is simply, the burden of proof is upon you.

PERSONALLY -- I only believe God speaks through His scriptures and the truth of His word is revealed by enlightenment from the Holy Spirit... Thats just me.

I must, respectfully, say I believe the scriptures are written by mammals, and one would be hard pressed to find a divine spark in it. I will leave it at that, as I find it best to keep my tounge softer in this forum then I do in the religion one.

Don't get me wrong, I may be a hardened cynic when it comes to religion but there is a certain part of me (however small) that would truly LOVE to believe in Christ and in God and in, well love actually but in these times it has become a bit of a far fetched, fairytale type dream.

I'm glad to see that some people have chosen the first option, as I did. It's nice to know that there are like minded people around.

I did not choose the first option only because I don't believe that Jesus was the Son of God. I believe he IS the Son of God. He lives today just as sure as he did 2000 years ago. As for the burden of proof, I can only tell you what I know. Faith is believing in something you can't prove. I know he lives and works in my life. I don't think anyone (gay or straight or bi) would deal with the rejection and ridicule that Christians deal with on a daily basis (sometimes even by fellow believers) if there wasn't a large measure of Truth. I believe that the Bible is God's Word written by Him through men. If the Bible says that Jesus is the Son of God, I believe.
I would rather live my life believing God exists and find out I'm wrong when I die than to live my life believing He does not exist and find out I'm wrong when I die.

I mean no offense to anyone who does not believe as I do. I'm just puttng it out there.
