I'm a christian. Yet I'm gay. It's always been a huge issue of conflict for me. One that I am still dealing and figuring out.

But in my experience most gay guys are atheistic. But right now, I'm just really confused. I know you guys have probably done this a hundred times over, but I have never seen it or been a part of it.

I would like to talk, seriously, without ego and presumptions about religion. I would like to have an honest conversation, without some people who believe a certain way butting in because that's what science tell them and they accept that as truth. I want to have dialouge with someone who at least believes in the possibilitly of God.

Hi and welcome to JUB.

I'm gay and a Christian, too. I don't think you will find much sympathy here for that combination, however. There seems to be a lot of animosity toward us. I agree about the atheistic comment, as well.

Let's see how this goes.

if cultures can not manage talk with out da add on labels

ya wills just painssssssss life fa generations

nature no come close ta humanitys ways

It's not easy to be gay and have people say your sick, a pervert, etc. So I can see if your a Christian, to hear people say God hates you, and your going to hell, when in your heart you don't believe it, has to be hard. But I know plenty of Christians who are accepting. So find people that share your views and stay away from the haters.

ya already create BOX ans stuff

it amazin

really lot cultures just stop has littlins ya not ready

Here's how I see it:
1. God created you...DNA, personality, character traits, etc.
2. "Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these." If you don't love yourself, you cannot love your neighbor.
3. "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven."

Live and let live man. I lived in other coutries (part of my past jobs) and have friends with various cultures. I have Jewish friends, Muslim friends, Christian friends, Hindi friends, Buddist friends, Democrat friends, Republican friends, Libertarian friends, gay friends, straight friends, and vegetarian friends. We welcome and respect each other. We wish each other to live a great life!

Christ never said a word about homosexuality.

Ergo, it is possible to be a homo and a christian.

I would also point out that the ten commandments do not say a single word about homos.

God made you gay, and God loves you exactly as you are.
You do not need to worry about what anyone else thinks of you.
Love yourself, love God and love others as yourself.
That's all Jesus Christ was about, just love. It's all good with him.
Many so-called Christians today are so far removed from the teachings of Jesus Christ that they don't deserve to have the label "Christian." They preach hate rather than love. So don't listen to them, whatever you do. Listen only to what Jesus Christ himself taught.

To TheRoyalGoat,
if you really believe in god. Know your bible but be skeptical all the time about those stories.

Most atheists were quite religious but they have doubts, then more doubts, .... more doubts until finally they don't believe many things in the bible.

I am not a Christian, nor am I Catholic, but that does not mean I do not believe that God exists, it just mean I believe in another higher being that I can relate to more spiritually. That does not mean I am an Atheist. In fact, I believe in all religion, I just happen to follow one.

Maybe other gay guys do not believe like me, and maybe some of them are true atheists, but I hope most everyone who reads this will understand my religious point of view and change.

God, Jesus, Moses, Buddhas, Zeus, all mythological deities that have existed in different areas of the worlds at different times, are all the same. No, they are not the same individual, but they are beings that are sent down to this world to spread the ideas of humanities. They are all saviors. Maybe they are all sent down from one place, one heaven. This world is big, one savior can never spread and cover the whole earth in one lifetime.

Each part of the world at different times, have a different saviors. Just like how Jesus exists in Jerusalem, the Buddha exists in Asia. Believe in whom you can connect spiritually, and do not ever reject another person's religion's existence just because it is not the same as yours.

I hope I did not offend anyone.

Now let me ask you ask you a few questions. Let yourself determine the answer through your own personal belief:

1. What is considered Sinful?
2. Amongst the answer to the first question, do you think accepting who you are as a "unique" person is considered Sinful? Everyone has a uniqueness, a liking that you like, a preference that you are proud of. Your "uniqueness" might be different then all of whom you know and grew up with, but does that mean you have created sin?
3. Do you truly believe that God will deny you if you do not fall in love with a woman?
4. Your religion teaches equality. What makes loving a man and a woman different? I believe that when you love a person, you love a person..thats it. Who cares if he's a male or a female. If you cares too much about that, then you are not loving an individual but you are loving a gender.
5. Who wrote the bible? Yes, they said the bible is written from God's own words, but are you sure that whoever wrote it is a total unbiased person that DID NOT decide to take out a few words?

Maybe through God's own lips he said "Thou should love thy neighbor, they friends, thyself, no matter of their color skin, their sexuality, or what they are as people." and whoever spread this decides not to write it all.

What I mean is.. Trust your heart, trust your mind... words and books are just reference to rely on when needed, but what you should rely on to survive in this world is your own belief of what is right and wrong.

6. My last question is very vague and simple.

Do you believe that God actually will damn you for being gay?

If you answer yes, then you are shameful for being gay, but you are also shameful for believing in HIM.

--

You write the path to your own life. Life is like a board game. Fate draws the board and the obstacles, but you walk it and pick cards along the way to see where you land on and decides what to do next.

If you write "God hates me for being gay" and stops there, then I'm sorry, you just killed yourself in this game.

Do not deny your religion, but instead, open yourself to more possibilities of a world beyond what is written in the bible and your church.

Take your Christianity as a foundation, and build your own belief, and thus, you will create a "unique" religious views of yourself.

Right now you are young, but by the time you are old and closer to Him, you will realize that God loves everyone...despite who they are, what they are.

If he doesn't, then he is not your God.

There are supportive Christian sects. There is also parish "shopping" if one us Catholic. It causes great stress hearing you're damned for something you were born with. Rather than attempting to reconcile the conflict many gays leave the Church of their birth for one more open or leave entirely. It simply isn't logical for something that's been around since the beginning of time and is not a choice to be vilified. Our first responsibility to ourselves is keeping healthy, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Some of us leave our original Churich to make that happen.

Matthew 22:36-40...

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’
38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

The above passage pretty much destroys most churches, who are in the hate business, including my own (Catholic). Jesus could not have put it more simply or obviously. There are millions, even billions of people who profess to be Christians, yet do not follow or practice the teachings of Jesus Christ. There are billions of fake Christians, and you should tune them out entirely. If you want to be a Christian, you should only listen directly to the teachings of Jesus Christ. In the 2000 years since he lived on Earth, billions of people have twisted and distorted his messages for their own evil purposes and it's still going on today. If you could meet Jesus Christ today, he would love you as himself. So completely disregard all of the hate and judgementalism that is spewed around today. No church is God. All churches are man-made, despite what they claim. God loves you exactly as you are.

I have to laugh somewhat ironically at three events in this thread:

1. The OP asks for a serious and sensible discussion, and his first reply is from SLOPPYSECONDS.

Advice to TheRoyalGoat: This JUBber very deliberately pretends that he can't speak English to get attention, and he'll refuse to answer any questions you put to him. I would just ignore him. ..|

2. The uncovering of an interesting thread from illgetbi, who has done his usual exemplary detective work. :=D:

Advice to TheRoyalGoat: It's best for you to ask for reasonable debate if you're not a troll.

3. The complete wasting of effort and time by honest JUBbers like Eternaldarkness to answer the OP, when the only person in this thread not interested in a sensible discussion aside for SLOPPYSECONDS is the OP himself. :##:

Advice to Eternaldarkess: Your good words are regrettably being wasted here (and I say that as an atheist) and I hope you can find similar threads in the Religion, Spiritualty and Philosophy forum, where the OP will actually listen and reply to you. (*8*)

Of course, you've nailed it.

Given the posting history thus far, it is quite p[ossible that the OP's hope was to get everyone at each other's throat by posing a question on this forum that has been dealt with again and again.

And everyone has been unfailingly polite and respectful.

Although since I have the Sloppyseconds sockpuppet on ignore, I don't get the advantage of its wit and wisdom.

So if the Op's original intent was to troll, then he will be disappointed.

If he wanted real advice and heartfelt opinion, then he has come to the right place.
