I am not a Christian, nor am I Catholic, but that does not mean I do not believe that God exists, it just mean I believe in another higher being that I can relate to more spiritually. That does not mean I am an Atheist. In fact, I believe in all religion, I just happen to follow one.
Maybe other gay guys do not believe like me, and maybe some of them are true atheists, but I hope most everyone who reads this will understand my religious point of view and change.
God, Jesus, Moses, Buddhas, Zeus, all mythological deities that have existed in different areas of the worlds at different times, are all the same. No, they are not the same individual, but they are beings that are sent down to this world to spread the ideas of humanities. They are all saviors. Maybe they are all sent down from one place, one heaven. This world is big, one savior can never spread and cover the whole earth in one lifetime.
Each part of the world at different times, have a different saviors. Just like how Jesus exists in Jerusalem, the Buddha exists in Asia. Believe in whom you can connect spiritually, and do not ever reject another person's religion's existence just because it is not the same as yours.
I hope I did not offend anyone.
Now let me ask you ask you a few questions. Let yourself determine the answer through your own personal belief:
1. What is considered Sinful?
2. Amongst the answer to the first question, do you think accepting who you are as a "unique" person is considered Sinful? Everyone has a uniqueness, a liking that you like, a preference that you are proud of. Your "uniqueness" might be different then all of whom you know and grew up with, but does that mean you have created sin?
3. Do you truly believe that God will deny you if you do not fall in love with a woman?
4. Your religion teaches equality. What makes loving a man and a woman different? I believe that when you love a person, you love a person..thats it. Who cares if he's a male or a female. If you cares too much about that, then you are not loving an individual but you are loving a gender.
5. Who wrote the bible? Yes, they said the bible is written from God's own words, but are you sure that whoever wrote it is a total unbiased person that DID NOT decide to take out a few words?
Maybe through God's own lips he said "Thou should love thy neighbor, they friends, thyself, no matter of their color skin, their sexuality, or what they are as people." and whoever spread this decides not to write it all.
What I mean is.. Trust your heart, trust your mind... words and books are just reference to rely on when needed, but what you should rely on to survive in this world is your own belief of what is right and wrong.
6. My last question is very vague and simple.
Do you believe that God actually will damn you for being gay?
If you answer yes, then you are shameful for being gay, but you are also shameful for believing in HIM.
--
You write the path to your own life. Life is like a board game. Fate draws the board and the obstacles, but you walk it and pick cards along the way to see where you land on and decides what to do next.
If you write "God hates me for being gay" and stops there, then I'm sorry, you just killed yourself in this game.
Do not deny your religion, but instead, open yourself to more possibilities of a world beyond what is written in the bible and your church.
Take your Christianity as a foundation, and build your own belief, and thus, you will create a "unique" religious views of yourself.
Right now you are young, but by the time you are old and closer to Him, you will realize that God loves everyone...despite who they are, what they are.
If he doesn't, then he is not your God.
