Discussion Thread from the Funny Anti-Religious Pictures thread.

Re: Funny anti-religious Internet pics

Jesus was not "in his dad's house". He was in a place that was not his property.

There are no gods, no prophets and no messiahs, Kuli. Just con men who dupe idiots.

The Temple was His Father's House. Whether you reject that or not does not alter it.

Re: Funny anti-religious Internet pics

That's like saying that the absolute core of Sherlock Holmes is shooting up cocaine and playing the violin at all hours -- it comes from not reading the whole thing.
Sherlock Holmes is fiction. #-o

PS. I've read 'the whole the whole thing', many times over the past 5 decades; it only gets worse with each reading. :(

PPS. You live in your fantasy world and I'll live in mine. (o)

Sherlock Holmes is a piece of literature.

And I'm sorry that you can read a volume where the overarching themes are love and mercy and find it "worse" each time.

Re: Funny anti-religious Internet pics

So it's okay to destroy other people's property if you simply claim to be a 'messiah', or whatever? :rotflmao:

Huh?

No, it's okay to insist that a building that belongs to your family be used as it was intended.

Alternatively it's okay to rebel against tyranny, especially when the documents setting forth the use of a public place are clear that what is being done is wrong.

In modern terms, what Jesus did there was to protest a corrupt deal between church and state to make a profit over the exclusion of "those people".

"Three prophets"?

What ignorance. Try at least to cite someone who has a clue what he's talking about.

Re: Funny anti-religious Internet pics

Well, if someone did such a thing that would be foolish.

In the Bible, on the other hand, the authors assumed that everything that happened, understood or not, came about because of God. There is no "God of the Gaps" in the Bible, there's a "God of everything".

Re: Funny anti-religious Internet pics

Well, at least 3, 4, 9 and 12 have it right that we're made of the same stuff the earth is.

Yeah, but they're mediocre expressions of their literary type.

LOL

Well, without having the various texts in question to work with, that would be hard to conclude.

BTW, I've also seen a Native American version where Coyote made man out of dust and drool. I kind of like that one.

Re: Funny anti-religious Internet pics

I wonder if being an egotistical know-it-all is a sin...

Apparently we can conclude that they are scientifically sound ("have it right") without the various texts in question.

But not that they are literarily sound.

Got it.

We can only base conclusions on the information we have.

The idea is to have good information.

The idea is to have good information.

So, your idea is that the information we have is good enough to conclude that we "have it right" that humans were made from mud, but not that such an expression is fine literature?

Re: Funny anti-religious Internet pics

The religious have a whole 'no-flame' forum to discuss their [STRIKE]nonsense[/STRIKE] deeply held personal beliefs; why can't this thread simply be made a 'pics only, no commentary' forum?

Because people like you keep making comments?

Here's the information we were given:

Where's the literature????

Kulindahr: Here's the information we were given.

Information: Humans were made out of corn.
