disgusting things that annoy you

But appointing family members to cabinet posts is an obscenity, and there should be something in American law to forbid it. We elect no one to enrich his family, or form a cartel by blood in office. The Congress should act now to ban it in all future administrations.

I believe there is a law against Presidents appointing family members to Cabinet posts, passed after JFK appointed RFK Attorney General. But It seems that law covers only Cabinet positions.

The problem is that, as with other laws, Republicans in Congress won't hold Republican President to the law.

So I understand, and largely agree with, the motivation behind the sociopolitical responses to this question, but I think they're getting away from the thread's intent, which is to discuss annoyances, not moral outrages.

You know what annoys me?

The use of "literally" to mean anything other than literally.

The use of "cathedral" to mean "big-ass church" and not "mother-ship church and bishop's headquarters in a diocese."
(Sagrada Familia is not a cathedral. Barcelona still has the same cathedral it had had since at least the 13th century.)

The singular "they."
(Damn it, our lesbian sisters came up with "ze" in the 1990s. What couldn't we have used that?)

The food in much of Indonesia is very good as well, but what makes Malaysian and Singaporean food so great is that it combines dishes and influences from Indonesia/the Malay Archipelago, China, India, Thailand, and even Europe.

The curry laksa at Changi Airport in Singapore is extraordinary. I still remember it 22 years later.

But back to the topic:

What else annoys me? The use of coffee in desserts. Coffee tastes bad.

I love really strong and bold black coffee that is iced or cold but I don't think I would like it in desserts.

People using the phrase "I kid you not" and saying OMG. People using toothpicks at the table in a public restaurant.

Grunting, slurping, snorting, sniffing, lip-smacking, noisy breathing; people chewing with their mouths open, talking at the same time as chewing.

People using toothpicks at the table in a public restaurant.

Thankfully I've never seen anyone do that, but I have seen little pots of toothpicks on restaurant tables. If somebody used one in front of me I'd turn my chair round and face the other way.

That's what every old man does at their local bar while playing cards. They can hold it on their lips while they talk, I wanna learn that when I grow old

Restaurants where cleanliness is treated like a stepchild. After working in several, I notice there's so much focus on service that payroll is reduced to just enough time for sales operations with no consideration for cleaning up which is always very superficial and minimal. When I worked in a restaurant a bitch was down on her knees scrubbing, pulling stuff out, on top, underneath, every corner and crevice. Don't like to brag but the 3 restaurants I worked at all of their sanitation scores improved within months of me starting. Should I take sole credit for that? Yes. Yes I should. It was NOT a team effort. :gogirl:

ok storytime-- saw a potential employer today and we decided to go across the street for lunch. empty restaurant, manager sitting behind the bar, two employees walking back and forth behind the counter, and the table i sit at has a ketchup stain. how can three people not maintain a clean empty restaurant on a tuesday? i'd hate to see what it looks like on a weekend. anway i guess this makes my answer to the question: lazy employees? i dunno i'm high bitch.
