meh

I can remember this scam going back for years...

From, "Ms. Cloe" to Dionne Warrick...

The concept that you can call an "on the phone psychic", and they can tell you everything from how to make money or where your "true love" is to how "Aunt Tilly" is trying to tell you where she left a million dollars for you buried in her backyard.

Surely, we've evolved beyond this nonsense, right ?

Well, apparently not...as I see the new ads for "California psychics" on late night TV.

"Only one dollar a minute", a bargain !

Then they have an array of actors telling how the "California Psychics" helped them satart a new business or find a true love.

Do YOU believe this stuff is possible, or do you believe that P.T. Barnum was right ?

No, Joshua, but I'm not a non-believer. Allow me to elaborate.

From what I'm able to discern, intuitive phenomena only occurs at random, and at unpredictable intervals. It cannot be called up on demand by an over-the-phone psychic.

.

Yikes.

Well, that's exactly my opinion as well, Johann...

At the risk of sounding completely *insane*, I've experienced the same phenomena....

The problem is, it's hard to express and describe the experience to others without sounding like you're in need of a padded cell.

And, part of the reason is because of these snake oil selling charlatans, that make the few (maybe NOT SO few) of us that have experienced this phenomena at times when we really least expected it be reduced to sounding like their ilk.

When really, some things are best left unsaid...

(At least online...) (*8*)

I'll believe wholesale in psychics when one of them wins the lottery.

Hell, I'll be generous - get 5 of the 7 numbers and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

^ Yeah...

99 percent of them are bullshit artists, snake oil salesmen, Free HD cable for three months representatives ( ;) )

But, seriously speaking, the fact that ONE percent of them are the "real deal" is a life changing concept, IMO...

I've experienced a couple of things in my life that could only be explained by, well.... I dunno.... supernatural powers, I guess.

The thing is, they mostly happen to the young.

I'm hesitant to quote from Pink Floyd's, "The Wall", but there is a quote in there... "When I was a child I had a feeling, out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look, but it was gone. I cannot put my finger on it now, the child is grown, the dream is gone..."

Perhaps we've all grown, "comfortably numb".

meh

OK.

Your regular "Joshy" is back, (and I really appreciate you all that, for whatever reason, consider me a part of your day...)

It just a little thought to chew on,,,,

Things won't always be this way, you know... (*8*)

I'm not a great believer of religion or spirituality, but I wouldn't go as far as saying "HELL NO! What a pile of steaming horseshit!" so I went "Well, I'm not sure..."

Not a psychic but an over the phone medium.

After my Steve passed I was so distraught I didn't know what to do. A colleague at work gave me her number. It took awhile but I finally called her.

Right off the bat she said I lost a male loved one around my age and this startled me because I wasn't expecting much. She wasn't sure if it was a brother, lover etc.

There was a lot of general stuff but then she said he's asking me to tell you that he loves you and thanks you for making him happy and comfortable these 35yrs. of his life. How she would know thats how long we were together is a mystery to me but it did send chills down my spine. I was never much for believing in an afterlife. Since his passing I like to think I'll be with him again, I have to, it keeps me sane.

Is it not possible that your colleague would have briefed her in advance. I'm sure you've told someone about the 35 years. I can imagine a colleague who really wants you to come out of your despair going behind you

Who does it better?

Of course I thought of this, good point. However, she told me her brother lost his wife and contacted her. She had to call him for her number. At the time, I just tried to keep an open mind. There could have been some behind the scene info, I don't know. I just called once and that was it.

During the 70s and 80s, the American Government experimented with remote viewing as a method of spying. They concluded that it was only accurate 15% of the time, but when it WAS accurate, it was VERY accurate, with the remote viewer describing visages in great detail.

When it was time to evaluate the results, no one knew exactly how to codify them.

I think that's how intuitive phenomena works—at random, and at unpredictable intervals.

So the answer is: No.

Ditto this.

But, seriously speaking, the fact that ONE percent of them are the "real deal" is a life changing concept, IMO...

Definitely. Like the time the guy in my house at college came walking up the stairs and I immediately knew what he'd done that weekend -- freaky.

I've experienced a couple of things in my life that could only be explained by, well.... I dunno.... supernatural powers, I guess.

I read a sci-fi short story once where these aliens show up, traveling faster than light. Humans finally figure out the aliens' drive runs because of psi power. Sadly, one of the scientists notes to the alien navigator that humans will just have to find a different way, because mankind has no such talent, to which the alien replies, "But you do! Except you train it out of your children before they know they have it!"

^ Interesting.

Personally, I would have jumped on me for misquoting Pink Floyd. (Find it if you must...)

That concept of the speed of travel and passage of time has always fascinated me....

Although, I'm not sure one has anything to do with the other.

Except, perhaps, that we're all in this multidimensional reality, (ours being the third, of course) and just maybe once in a while a hole gets punched through one of the time lines that we're not supposed to see...

heh

I've derailed my own thread... ;)

They do -- velocity and time flow are integrally related (math pun intended); it's one of the things they had to consider for the GPS system (along with gravity and time).

Which makes me think: if a phone psychic could apply psi power to arrive to talk to me at my place before I finished asking my first question, I think I'd be convinced.
